Tried to Book - They Flaked! unreliable !
I tried to book a nanny through this service for a two-week trip to Comporta, submitting an inquiry nine days in advance via their online form with my address, tentative schedule, and needs. They contacted me via WhatsApp, quoting €10-€20 per hour and confirming availability after several messages. They also promised to send resumes for nanny selection and set a rate of €15 per hour plus an agency fee. However, two days before my trip, I had not received the resumes and followed up. On the day of my arrival, they informed me they had no availability, citing my “last-minute request,” despite my early outreach. They offered to send someone if I paid for travel and accommodations for the two weeks, without providing a price. They also claimed Comporta was outside their coverage area, even though their website appears in “Comporta nanny” search results and I had specified the location twice.
Parents should exercise caution with this service. Their communication was inconsistent, with delayed or no responses after initial contact. They failed to provide promised resumes, misrepresented their service area, and applied unexpected price increases or vague additional costs. The last-minute cancellation and unpreparedness of any assigned nanny, when available, disrupted my travel plans significantly. I strongly recommend parents verify service coverage and pricing in writing, confirm nanny qualifications, and secure a backup plan, as this agency’s unreliability and misleading practices can cause major inconveniences.

We are very sorry to hear that we were unable to meet your expectations on this occasion. While we always promise to do our best to support families in finding the right childcare, we do want to acknowledge that placements, especially in high-demand or rural locations, cannot always be guaranteed.
We understand how frustrating and disruptive it must have been to receive confirmation of availability and then not be able to proceed as planned. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused to your travel arrangements.
In your case, although the inquiry was submitted nine days in advance, we regret that this was not sufficient time to secure and finalize a nanny for a two-week stay in Comporta, an area that is outside of our usual coverage zone and often requires additional coordination for travel and accommodation. We had nannies ready to go but they’d have needed accommodation provided which we understand you weren’t able to provide.
That said, we recognize the importance of clear, timely, and consistent communication, and we are actively reviewing our internal processes to ensure families are better informed about regional availability, associated costs, and what to expect at each stage of the booking process.

Money Takers / Be careful!
Nanny Poppings Portugal charges Nannie’s a 20 euros fee per month or 200 per year. Why? They say that the reason is that sometimes Nannie’s can’t afford paying for courses. How come? Do they have access to our accounts? They should charge parents not Nannie’s. It’s a dictatorship agency! If you don’t pay, forget it!
I’ve been a nanny for 21 years in the US and UK, registered with top agencies and haven’t paid a penny to none of them. What a shame!

Recently, as the owner of Nanny Poppins, I decided to take various meetings with my team to understand what they wanted from us as an agency and how best we could support them in their growth as nannies.
As a former nanny myself, it’s important to always ask feedback from my team and include them in important decision about team and how we can grow together.
The feedback from our team was that a monthly membership would be beneficial for them as individuals who are serious about continually growing and being the best in the industry.
I met with my Nannies individually and collectively to understand how this would work and at this moment, I’m still in the process of understanding if this will work.
The membership program has not even come into effect at this moment and we are still not sure if it will.

Our goal at Nanny Poppins has always been to foster a community of dedicated, highly skilled nannies who not only provide excellent care but also support and uplift one another. The membership program we discussed during your interview was designed with this in mind.
This program includes access to a range of valuable resources such as specialized training sessions, social events, and networking opportunities. We believe that by offering these benefits, we can create a supportive environment where our nannies can continue to grow both personally and professionally. Far from being a "dictatorship," this initiative is about empowering our nannies, giving them the tools to succeed, and helping them build lasting connections within our community.
I can tell you one thing for sure, the Nannies that we employ would never go to lengths to tear another person or their business down, and I’m proud that our recruitment team works so hard to ensure we only work with nannies who uplift one another.

She deletes all her negative reviews I believe, as I already left a few and they all disappear straight after.
Stay away as she does not check her Nannies well. We are in court because of Nanny Poppins who sold us the services of a professional scammer Nanny Sandra Assis Rodriguez who fabricated accident and decided to claim disability without any medical document. Dropped my child and tried to sue the supermarket and once realised she has no leg to stand on she started to have a go at us. Although we offered to give her two month off and pay her regular salary she decided it was not enough and since we were leaving back to UK much easier to fight for more. Emma also knew that this particular nanny had issue with previous employer and did not mention. She makes it look all on point on paper but when it comes to taking responsibility and actually helping to resolve issues ( this is what she gets paid for) to assist parents. Not a second of remorse or apology that my child got hurt . She quickly took that nanny down from the website refused to give statement in court or even a letter. Did not reply to our emails and whole experience is now costed us 12 k euros in charges to argue the point and legal fees. We only had this nanny for 5 month! Imagine the pain.

On Thu, Sep 16, 2021 After agreeing to the terms set out by Nanny Poppins, I began your nanny search and I sent multiple candidates. One candidate I even managed to track down as per your request, even though I only had her first name and a photo because you believed she could be the perfect candidate. I tracked her down, interviewed her, reference and background checked her and sent her over to you along with various other candidates. However, you decided to stop the search and return to London.
On August 27th 2022, You got in contact with Nanny Poppins via WhatsApp and said that you planned to return to Lisbon in September and wanted to resume your search. I sent over 5 candidates and you decided to proceed with meeting Sandra on 16th September 2022. Sandra stated that she did not want an employment contract so I explained that I could make an agreement outlining her role and responsibilities and that Sandra would be self-employed. This document was signed by you on 19th September 2022. The document clearly stated that you were responsible for Sandra's social security contributions.
Whether the nanny is employed with a contract or self employed, it is with the family, nannies are never employed by Nanny Poppins, this was also very clear from the beginning.
Nanny Poppins is a recruitment agency; we provide a service and clients pay us for this service once the service has been completed. The service was completed and on completion, you paid the fee. This was always clear from the beginning, please feel free to check the email sent to you on Thu, Sep 16, 2021, 10:08 AM. The agency fee does not act as compensation to the nanny or family if something goes wrong during their employment with your family. This fee is for the services provided by the agency before the nanny starts working with your family.
Sandra was employed with your family for six months, during these six months, I received numerous feedbacks that all was going very well. Including messages you sent to Sandra telling her that she was like a sister to you and that your family adored her.
After Sandra's accident, things turned sour very quickly and you asked me to return your agency fee in order to pay Sandra compensation.
I stated the fee that was paid for the services carried out by the agency (Nanny Poppins) and would not be paid to Sandra or your family and Nanny Poppins holds no responsibility for any dispute between the employer (yourselves) and the employee (Sandra).
I am committed to resolving any legitimate concerns you may have and am open to finding an amicable solution. Your feedback is crucial to my ongoing efforts to provide quality nanny services, and I want to ensure your experience is as positive as possible.

We have used Nanny Poppins on several occasions to babysit our children - two boys aged 8 and 3. Emma vets all her Nannies and also they have first aid training. I found the agency by accident - I was looking for a job. I sent my CV and immediately Emma took me under her wing. She is helpful, supportive and you can always count on. Within a few hours I had my first job interview, and in a moment it turned out that I got my dream job! Emma takes care of every detail when admitting people to the agency, there are no random people there. Employees are responsible, and most importantly, they love their work!
