I am extremely disappointed with N26
I am extremely disappointed with N26. My account was suddenly put under re-verification, and since then I have been unable to use my account at all. The worst part is that my money is still in the account and I cannot access it.
I have tried to complete the verification multiple times, but the system keeps saying “your ID isn’t correct,” even though I am using my valid Hungarian passport, which was accepted before without any problem.
Customer support has been very frustrating. They keep sending me back and forth between chat and email, asking me to send emails to the chat team and chat messages to the email team, but nobody actually explains what the real problem is or helps resolve it. They just keep saying the issue has been forwarded to different teams.
This situation has been going on for far too long and it is honestly unacceptable for a bank to block access to someone’s funds without resolving the issue or giving a clear explanation. It’s becoming ridiculous and very stressful. Based on this experience, I would not recommend N26 to anyone.

I had a very positive experience with the **N26** app. Even though I’m from Brazil, where we’ve been used to digital banks for many years — since the country was one of the pioneers in this type of service — I was still impressed by the quality of the app. Everything works very quickly and intuitively, without unnecessary complications. The interface is clear, the information is easy to understand, and all the features are well organized, which makes it much easier to manage finances on a daily basis. My account was closed after this team lost a dispute with the merchant. The reason given for losing the dispute was that return tracking details had not been provided. However, when I initially submitted the dispute form, I was told to simply wait and that they would contact me if any additional information was required.
Later, I received an email stating that the dispute had been lost. I then reached out to them and asked why they never requested further details, since I had all the necessary proof and could have provided it so the chargeback could proceed. Instead of addressing my questions, they closed my account.
As a result, my account was shut down while it still contained my money. This situation occurred because of an unprofessional agent who did not handle the chargeback process properly, and now I have lost my funds because of it.
I made two complaints already and your team perfectly knows that they have enough information from me to win this dispute, but they just don’t want to raise this chargeback anymore, THEY SIMPLY FAILED.

I don't have a lot to say because I never have any problem with the bank nor the app. The bank and the credit card are great to use when travelling around the world as it doesn't take fees or not a lot of it unlike some other banks. It also informs about the amount of money people have in their account, or when someone/an entreprise gives you money. You constantly have information about that. So I think the bank is great.
N26 scammed me
I am a long‑time N26 customer and took part in their “invite friends” referral program. Based on N26’s own advertised terms and conditions, I fulfilled all the requirements and my total bonus entitlement comes to 1,495 € – still below the official 1,500 € limit.Despite this, N26 refuses to pay the remaining bonus. Their only argument is that the program is merely a “courtesy” and therefore not legally enforceable. This was never made clear in the marketing of the program or in the terms I relied on when inviting friends. From a customer’s point of view, this feels like moving the goalposts after the fact.I followed every official step: first N26’s internal complaints process, then the German Universalschlichtungsstelle (federal consumer arbitration). N26 even refused to participate in the arbitration procedure at all, which I find very telling about how seriously they take customer complaints. BaFin, the German financial regulator, confirmed in writing that they cannot help me in individual civil disputes – they only act to protect collective consumer interests.So I am left with a simple situation: I stuck to the rules and brought new customers to N26, but N26 is looking for technicalities to avoid paying what was promised. This is extremely disappointing for a bank that advertises itself as transparent and customer‑centric.Anyone considering relying on N26’s bonus or referral programs should be very careful and document everything with screenshots, because enforcing your rights can turn into a long, frustrating process. At this point I can no longer recommend N26 to friends or family based on my experience.
The issue is about the “invite friends” / referral bonus.
According to your T&Cs, the maximum referral bonus is 1,500 €. My total bonuses are 1,495 € (1,295 € already paid + 100 € + 100 € still missing).
Support keeps telling me that the program is only a “courtesy” and simply refuses to pay the remaining 200 €, and N26 also refused to participate in the official German arbitration procedure (Universalschlichtungsstelle, file OMB#C385254).
I am happy to provide all screenshots and documents if someone from N26 wants to review this case seriously.

- Total eligible referrals: 1,295 € already paid + 2 more (each 100 €) that were refused.
- Total should be 1,495 € (below your cap).
I have contacted the official German arbitration body (Schlichtungsstelle bei der BaFin, case QV-2101/00015-00335) because despite following all rules, these last bonuses were not paid.
Can you please check my account and pay the remaining 200 €?

Metal insurance doesn’t work. Complete waste of money.
I am a Metal customer since 23, which supposedly includes all the premium insurances. In reality, it’s a complete waste of money. Never choose this plan.
Every time I tried to use any of the “included” protections, they simply found a reason in the contract to deny the claim.
Purchase protection? Nothing.
Accident protection? Nothing.
Travel protection? Nothing.
There is always some clause, some technicality, some excuse explaining why the situation is not covered. What is advertised as a premium safety net turns out to be practically useless.
I have never experienced such poor service connected to a credit card. The benefits sound great on paper, but when you actually need them, they disappear.
If you are considering Metal for the insurance benefits, don’t. It’s extremely disappointing.
