Just yesterday I got an email telling me that I need to activate SMS 2FA before 4 October or else.
The rest of the email was gaslight about how it is about my safety, and how more secure SMS 2FA is compared to email 2FA and failing to mention that it's years light much more insecure than authenticator app based 2FA, which is what I'm already using.
So the email boils down to them making mandatory to downgrade your security and telling you it's better.
MYOB update forces costumer's to provide bank details for there banking feature IF you decline they stop you from emailing invoices
This company is a big scam.
We tried to use their payroll software. It was so hopeless we could not get it to work at all. There was no ability to load the software with accumulated leave. All attempts to get support were painful and fruitless.
So after some months of wasting our money we tried to cancel the subscription. This is where the scam comes in. YOU CANNOT CANCEL.
They force you to ring a number that does not answer.
They make it impossible to cancel.
You have been warned
Greta value for money and the new MYOB Business is a great solution suited for SME businesses.
API integration with Xero costs $10/month. With MYOB it costs $110/month as a developer and $220/month if you want to go live.
Applying for the developer account takes days! Xero's API has instant access.
For any of you using MYOB, you deserve all the pain because you did not migrate to Xero.
25 years as a MYOB user. Stopped supporting mac and went online, with no migration tool so manual entry was required. Invoicing system recently overhauled and due to being owned by a US company, and becoming a finance company rather than software provider, lots of personal and private data was required to be uploaded. The software is buggy, reports inaccurate at times requiring cache refreshment to get accurate results. Being locked out of file for transitions they impose, loses countless days of downtime, stagnating business costings $1000s in helpless staff unable to do their ob. Today for example, the site is down so 3 staff sitting here unable to do day to day stuff. Its happening more and more. Its annoying cause any migration to a new platform is a lot of work. For a software company it is flash User Interface and looks pretty, but the underlying functionality since using MYOB Premier/AccountEdge for MAC, is a step backwards. After using XERO and others, I would go for XERO for small business use its far more developed being around longer, so stable. MYOB is also expensive, it's been raising its monthly fees multiple times a year since past 5 years. There are new products coming on market using todays web technology with AI to speed things up, proceed with caution if considering. Knowing what I know now, I would be on Quickbooks.
MYOB has taken away my ability to email invoices to clients because I would not share very personal and confidential company information, well beyond what banks need to open an account. Beyond even what the ATO asks for verification. I was told if I did not provide the information my invoices would not have a "MYOB verified" tick when they are sent but now the ability to even email a client a simple invoice has been removed. I would think this is a very basic function.
I can say however they certainly have not removed their own ability to charge my credit card despite the fact it had expired.
My advice look elsewhere. I was a customer for over 10 years and I am changing despite the headaches it will cause.
Shame I didn't check here before suggesting to my client to use MYOB. As an MYOB consultant for many years prior to the on-line version MYOB was logical and somewhat intuitive.
where would I start. How do I add salesman to invoice? What happened to the identifiers so I could filter customers by different layers? How to I truly 'customise' and invoice? Why can't I add the fields I need in my reports? Why has MYOB become so clunky? Why when I try to get to support, the process simply repeats itself offering zero results. How much time I have wasted. Would not be suggesting anyone use MYOB on-line. I've transitioning back to the standalone product so I can provide my customers with true and powerful results.
Terrible software. Thought I needed to move on from Quickbooks but didn't realise how easy QBO is to use. MYOB was a nightmare to navigate. MMC migration company were fantastic, prompt and informative so absolutely no blame on MMC, but just doing something as simple as adding a new product to inventory was excruciatingly hard. In the end after an hour I gave up. Funny how I didn't need to watch a tutorial to do it with QBO! Didn't sleep for two days wondering why the heck I was thinking trying to change software. You then have to call up just to cancel your subscription, really inconvenient. You can sign your life away directly online but have to talk to a sales person when cancelling. If I had just done the trial I would have seen it wasnt for me in 2 minutes. My mistake. MYOB should call up the team at QBO or Xero and ask how to design a better, friendlier user interface. If you have been using QBO and feel the need to look around, don't. Cheers.
MYOB are stopping support of their (perfectly fine) Desktop Payroll software so we are attempting to move to their Online software. Nightmare!
I am on day 5 of dealing with their 'support' people to try and get the new software to reflect leave & holiday totals from our existing software. Nothing can be exported/ imported so everything has to be done manually.
Support emails are taking up to 8 hours for a response and seem to come out of business hours, adding to the delays. Frustrating!
We only went with MYOB for our business accounting software because our accountant initially thought it would be a good idea BUT it has been the worst experience. Possibly the worst software and service I have ever had the misfortune to use. I'm annoyed we stuck with it for so long and paid them so much $. Now in the process of switching to Xero and it is so much better! If you are looking at accounting software, avoid myob at all costs!
Absolute junk software, have used it every day for the past 8 years and it has progressively got worse. Not to mention the ongoing issues they have not fixed for nearly a decade. Couldn't even add my accountant easily without contacting MYOB, waiting 3 days for a reply and even then the guy was full of it. Accountant had to get their MYOB case manager to sort it. That's before I mention that you can't sign in without a 2 factor text code.. great huh.. except when they don't send through the code and you muck around for ages even trying to log in. Great use of your time! Would not recommend this piece of junk software to anyone.
MYOB is the most reprehensible rent seeking company in Australia. THey want 1.8% surcharge paid to them on all invoices. It costs them no difference to process a $5 invoice than it does a $5000 invoice. This is rent seeking pure and simple by KKR their **** Overlords. every.single.time

MYOB took away my ability to email invoices to clients because I would not share personal and company information beyond what banks want to open bank accounts and beyond what the ATO asks for verification. I was told if I did not provide the information my invoices would not have a "verified" tick when they are sent but that would be it. Now I've lost the functionality. I use MYOB in 3 companies am look looking to change.
Being a Chartered Accountant of 30 years, MYOB has to be the MOST FRUSTRATING of all bookkeeping applications that I have ever used. The number of times that I have to login to access a company database is just mindboggling. To make it really bad, it is a two factor authentication (TFA) process. Here is an example of how the MYOB process is frustrating, and unnecessarily ineffective, slow and repetitive for a so-called online system.
I try to login with username, password and TFA to be greeted with "Your database needs to be updated. Would you like to update now or later." I click "Later" and the login process terminates! Clearly, there was NO "later" option!!!
I then start the login process again with username, password and TFA to be greeted with the same message. I click "Update now", and MYOB asks "Would you like to terminate users and start the update". I click "Yes" and the login process terminates again!
I start the login process for the third time with username, password and TFA to finally get in.
This happens EVERY SINGLE MONTH !!! for what MYOB calls an online system. If it is truly ONLINE, all updates would occur at their server end/in the cloud. Why does the login process even asks the question???
And to make things worse with their ridiculous login process...your username and password is NOT able to be saved using your desktop/Windows functionality. It is as though you are trying to get into Fort Knox every single time!!! You have to literally type in your username (being your entire email address) and your password and then go to your Inbox to retrieve their continually refreshed TFA code.
Basic functionality of MYOB once you finally login is acceptable, nothing special, nothing especially efficient or outstanding when compared to other competitive products. I do not recommend this to any client.
What a complete joke of a software. MYOB Solo looked like a good deal at $12 for 12 months, so I gave it a go. Big mistake. I’ve used Bookipi and QuickBooks before with zero issues making simple timesheets and invoices — this was a disaster from the start. The Solo plan is basically useless and doesn’t even support a web browser. So I upgraded to the next plan, hoping it would be better — nope, same garbage. Couldn’t even create a basic timesheet. Support was no help at all — I rang to cancel my plan immediately after wasting 2 hrs trying to figure it out myself, Then, later that day, they had the nerve to invoiced me for both Solo and Lite. It honestly feels like a scam. This software is an absolute mess, and I regret wasting my time on it. Never thought I’d bother leaving a review, but this trash fire of a product deserves the warning. Stay far away. Feels like such a scam when the product is so poor
Emailing invoices was taken away from me because I wasn't prepared to supply myob with personal info, more than MYgov ID even asks for so I am stuck with having to save to pdf which was available in version 18 but now in 25 its taken away????? I don't want to set up "secure payments", I just want to send an invoice using my contacts within the app! Secure invoicing has been around for a long time and there is no need for this level or data gathering.
