Know your rights and fight for them.

Before being able to speak with a human rep, you have to go through nearly 7 minutes of AI questions first. You also have to wait through the entire questions before proceeding, which is a huge pain in the ass, especially if you end up finding an error made by the rep and have to call again! I had to call again to have an error fixed, and the 2nd rep I spoke with refused to hand me to someone else when I requested. I've never had to provide my social security number before getting help, but this person insisted that it was required and refused to transfer me to someone else. This is a credit bureau, and I should never be required to state my most sensitive information over the phone before gaining help for fraud. She did eventually allow me to confirm my identity using other personal information, but it was such a ridiculously unnecessary headache to go through first.

Warning about Equifax do not get a…

Warning about Equifax do not get a personal loan from a second tier lender . Equifax has reduced my credit score by 25% due to this occurrence. Totally unfair and unrealistic. Makes no absolute sense it's $20,000 loan for medical operation not covered by medicare or health fund. You would imagine you would loose 25% of your score if you defaulted, not if you took a small unsecured loan . Clear Score is far more fairer and reasonable rating my score at a much higher score for the same action.

I wish I could give Equifax ZERO stars. WORST company I have EVER dealt with.

I have worked so hard to rebuild my credit rating over a period of 4-5 years to get it to a point where it was Excellent. One day I check my Equifax portal and notice 200 points were wiped off and then two things appeared in the User Dashboard saying that I made short term credit applications. I obviously did not so I downloaded (and paid for) the credit file. In the actual credit file, there was no evidence that these applications were made. I lodged a complaint.... and thus began an arduous process to even get a simple response...

I don't want to get into the details but it took about 5 submissions on their website, hours on the phone and 6 emails and even a forwarded reply to the Board of Directors to finally get a response that was from the manager of their Customer Complaints team. But I will specifically mention that one of their customer complaints people actually said to me "Don't worry about your Credit Score too much, it's not the only thing that people look at when you apply for a home loan." ... I think this kinda pretty much sums up the type of organisation you are dealing with...

After about 2-3 months of chasing up this issue, I am back where I started. 200 points were taken out of my credit rating, because of some software upgrade but no explanation was given to me, no pathway forward and I now have to begin another long process of taking this up with the financial authorities.

In summary, Equifax installed a software upgrade and somehow 200 points got wiped off my rating but they are not reinstating it. It took me 2-3 months of back and forth with the worst customer service I have ever received in my life... and now I have to take it even further.

I hope this review highlights the quality of service you can expect to get from Equifax Australia.
