Six months ago, my middle-schooler got accepted to the Norwalk Youth Symphony (in CT). NYS requires that participants take private lessons, and they suggested we reach out to Kate as a potential instructor. When I learned that Kate was in NY and lessons would be remote, I was hesitant. We’d experienced various online platforms during COVID and were familiar with their limitations (timing lags, inability to properly capture dynamics, and inability to capture inputs from multiple video participants at the same time). That said, Kate very generously offered to do a trial lesson with my son. It was fantastic!! The online platform made the distance melt away ---- it was as if they were playing in the same room. On top of that, Kate and my son connected almost immediately. Fast forward, it is now 6 months later and the adventure continues. Kate is a great teacher and my son gets to play cello with her each week via MyBlueSkiesMusic.com.
