Some site this is...

Can confirm that they are rather ban happy and can't take constructive criticism at all. My first ever post was about how instilling a 'No lurker download weekend event' was overall a questionable decision by the mods for the casual fanbase of Mugen. Not even a day after, that post got deleted and I was sent a refferal for that as well. I was being honest and nice, and simply compared it to another site that punished the casual fanbase for not going/saying what they want to hear, yet they took it like it was the worst thing in the world. Absolutely terrible, one of the mods is a known nutjob as well. Would recommend other sites, but there are characters here that I can't find elsewhere.

WORST MUGEN CHARACTER SITE!

mugen archive is by far THE WORST place to download mugen characters, yes, there are good characters, but the login thing, the waiting process, and the maximum characters you can download is by far the most annoying and selfish thing a person can make to a site that is dedicated to the most simple game in the world. The creators of this STUPID site, can remodel it and make it better. Because the only way to actually make this site work is by donating money LOL cheapest site ever made in mankind.

Worst site

Worst site, bro really has to wait 24 hours to download something all because i downloaded like 10 characters this website is horrible and i honestly think everybody should avoid it. I fr be seeing people getting banned for the dumbest reasons like just a month ago a guy made a harmless joke and he got permanently banned. Trash site with trash rules.

registering is harder than actually making a game.

outdated site look
you need an account to download more than 10mb
you need vip to download more than 100mb
sometimes to register you need to guess the name off a random character.
they will make you completly restart registering process for something as dumb as not choosing an avatar
a cool tool ruined by a trash website

Mugen Archive sucks donkey balls.

Like the others below me have stated, this site is ran by a bunch of hypocritical snowflakes who cry at the slightest bit of criticism. They constantly take the hard work of others, monetize it, and then have the nerve to call their users "leeches." The mods are so sensitive to constructive criticism that they make 12-year-old Discord mods seem like the most reasonable people on Earth. Dizzy is by far the worst out of all of them. He acts like an entitled brat who sees anyone who disagrees with him as lower than dirt and will ban you for even making a harmless joke. Finally, let me get the community weekends. My god. This might just be the most ass backwards, borderline ridiculous thing I've had to sit though. Who thought that limiting users' downloads even further would make them want to join the community? I swear, this site must be run by monkeys with how braindead these decisions are.

TL;DR --> Decent site, horrible mods, and even worse owner. This site should be a last resort if, and only if, you literally can't find the character you're looking for.

The worst site. Hands down.

This is the worst MUGEN site, bar none.

The admin, Dizzy, is a deplorable, whiny little child who will give a nice, shiny, IP ban to you for the dumbest reasons imaginable, including but not limited to; criticism, being a "lurker" (someone who downloads but doesn't upload), et cetera.

You also can't download anything over 10 megabytes in file size without an account, and even then, things that are 100 megabytes in size are locked behind a paywall!

There are dozens more issues with this site, and to be honest, I feel like I'm about to have a stroke just trying to explain them.

Avoid this site like the plague!

Website sucks

Website sucks. They steal and host other people's work and hide it behind paywalls. I hope they get sued and the site taken down. Slowly but surely I am infiltrating them and hosting their most popular files elsewhere. After all, it's exactly what they do to the creators.

Everyone when the admin is offline: It's over! We all win!

I'll keep this short. Community weekend events. Permanent bans. Limiting users' bandwidth. Dizzy. Do these sound like things you're willing to put up with? Stay away from needless bullsh*t such as this. If you really need Mugen characters that badly, look on alternate sites in tandem with Internet Archive's way back machine. While you're at it, maybe join some of the other communities and politely ask if anyone has what you're looking for. Who knows? Maybe you could run into the right person for the job. You could even grab a friend or family member and look for some stages or characters together. Either way, it's more productive than being angry about the made up rules of some random, arbitrary warehouse website run by a domestic lunatic, pretending to be a woman. Need I say more?

Horrible Mods, Unfair, and straight-up illegal.

This is an update from another review, which was an update from another review. I'm ranking this very low because the website is so bad, it's actually illegal. We will talk about why it's illegal soon, but first, we need to talk about the mods (For starters, a short word for "Moderators")

Mods: We won't go too much about the mods because you probably know how BAD they are, but the mods are bad because they just banned me for no reason (Which we will get do) The only thing I can think of getting banned is that I posted a repack, which I was dumb at the time. But even then, they STILL didn't unban me.

Unfair Downloading and Other Rules: If you thought the mods were bad, think again. The downloading rules are just bad. These Downloading Rules are so bad, I stopped playing Mugen. If something is over 10 MB, then you can't get it unless you make an account. And even if you did make an account, you would have to donate to get something over 100 MB. Super Unfair! Why are there downloading rules here? This is an archive! Also, there is this message for me: "Hello (USERNAME),

Your account is currently awaiting approval from a moderator.

Unfortunately, the moderation queue is very large at this time and the small staff is very busy, so it might take weeks or months before your account is checked and approved. If you need this account IMMEDIATELY, you can activate it INSTANTLY with a donation." First of all, WHY DOES THIS MESSAGE EXIST?!?! YOU WANT TO BE HATED ON? Second, why do we have to donate to you??? We will talk more about the donation problem later. When I try to go ANYWHERE besides the Forums or Home page, I keep getting this message: "(USERNAME), you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation." Really... This message has to be a joke. FIRST OF ALL, I WAS NOT (Or just straight up everyone) TRYING TO EDIT SOMEONE'S POST, ACCESS ADIMISTRAVTIVE FEATURES, OR ANYTHING ELSE. SECOND, NOONE WAS TRYING TO POST AT ALL!!! I'm gonna calm down, and let's read the last one.

Illegal Site: Remember what I said back on the "Unfair Downloading" Page? That was illegal. Yeah, "donation". Look at all of the characters, from Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, Marvel, etc. Aka, COMPANIES OR CHARACTERS YOU DON'T OWN!!! this is breaking a law.

Ok, I'm calm down and find 1 positive.

Positive: Has a large list of characters (more than most Mugen sites).

Overall: Very bad, should be fairer, have more staff, better mods, remove of downloading, etc. If it didn't have this many negatives, it would've been a great site, but Unfortunately, they made a lot of people mad from all of this unfair stuff. Mugen Archive could be much better.

Alts: andersonkenya1's website: I recommend the most, but you have to sign up to download characters. But it's still easy and you won't get banned by doing anything!

mugenfreeforall: One of the most popular alts to the Mugen Archive.

mugenguild: Basically Mugen Archive forums but better, But you can still find some characters.

Solution: You can use a VPN to bypass the waiting. However, you have to make another account to make it work or it will ban the VPN IP! (Note: Keep in mind that this will not affect Community Weekends)

That's what I can think of, thanks for reading. It took like 30 minutes to type.

I hate Mugen Archive now than never…

I hate Mugen Archive now than never before! I was registered with my account 1+ year ago, and just for not share and not be active for 1 month I lose all my privileges, and the only way to get back is with donations, go to hell! Im for 2 long years working hard in a big mugen project crossover with KOF, Samurai Shodown, Street Fighter, Marvel, DC and Dragon Ball and others SNK and CAPCOM characters, that will no be in Mugen Archive trash website, I will start my own blog and YouTube channel for this project, and nobody from Mugen Archive specifically will dont have access.

I'm a MUGEN Chars developer and will show soon my domination in this Engine with programation.

First of all, MUGEN is a free engine for free people do whatever they want in fighting games, but someway a website take a lot of these contents created by people who make for the community, and this website decide to claim the rights from all content thats from community and get the money for this, what Mugen Archive is thinking? They are thinking is a god or religion of Mugen?! Common!

I can't change my password after I forgot it, the rules are too strict and my accounts have been waiting in moderation for what feels like forever after I got banned. The admins are just some power hungry jerks who shouldn't force people to follow their rules. Also why the hell are there download limits for guests and unregistered accounts?! It's absoulte bullcrap!

First came the download limits. Then the captchas. Then the drama. Now you can't even download this weekend because of pure admin power hunger.
What's next? Do I have to kiss Dizzie's balls just to use the site?
Fu*k this site! I love mugen but most files are locked behind this terrible site.

the mugen community.

i make an account to make my review in english (not my native language, sorry) but mugen is most popular in english language.

the problem of mugen its the community, who is extremely toxic,in this community you can found the next type of users: bad amateur kids creators, manchilds, trolls, haters, edgy young millenials and centenials, abusive website admins and moderators etc...

these guys make me to leave mugen forever and get another hobbies,or just play another games, mugen its basically dead, elecbyte disappeared in 2013 (maybe these guys are 40 or 50 years olds and its make sense) with no a single message of them, maybe mugen turns in little fighter 2,dead community, dead official forums, retired authors, and dissapeared websites, elecbyte needs to send the rights to an active japanese/american/european indie developer to finally finish the game engine,i mean, cmon, mugen its beta since 1999,and its never finished

to elecbyte, please, sell the rights of mugen to an active indie developer to finish if your guys cant finish them, and later put mugen on steam with workshop support,if you says yes, mugen should be the gmod of fighting games.

3 Sucky Things About the "MUGEN ARCHIVE"

Ok so I'm a user on the MUGEN Archive (Obviously) and I'm not very pleased with the way the mods are currently behaving. Also, this is not going to be a list about EVERY single thing wrong with this site so expect maybe about.. 3 reasons why I feel the stupid stream of guidelines the site provokes isn't normal in my personal opinion.

However, this is still a very long review so.. yeah, buckle up.

And without further ado let's begin counting down things that just feel WAY too futile for a website, or "warehouse" if you will.

1. The rules are too strict

Ok, so sometimes in some cases, the rules can go a bit over the top in some cases as I mentioned above. People can get banned for simply being offline for a bit. (AKA taking a break and going outside every once in a while!)

If you decide to take a break from the community for a while, next time you log on you will probably feel horrible to return only to get hit with a message stating that "You haven't been active enough" or something like that and having some overly drastic punishment or being banned instead of a welcoming greeting back.

I mean, man, do I have to spend every second of my goddamn life on the website? Or, if that isn't enough to get on your nerves, you can also get banned for simply D O W N L O A D I N G too much stuff without making an account or screwing around in the forums. More on this in the paragraph below.

2. The mods are entitled, unprofessional, sensitive snowflakes

I've also been looking around other reviews and the main reason people are giving bad feedback on this is focused on complaining about the mods. Yes, I'm talking mostly about Dizzy, but I'm not leaving out other mods too. So basically this girl acts like she's the absolute damn lord over everyone and it's annoying. Yes, I know she's one of the main admins in charge of the site, but she uses her power to act entitled, and if she doesn't gain any sort of advantage of your use of the site then she believes you don't have the right to download just because she's selfish.

And remember when I said something about the forums?

So well if YOU decide not to spend the majority of your day on the forums, you technically can't use the site. And do you wanna know something else? If you decide to criticize Dizzy in ANY way, shape, or form, then prepare to get permanently banned.

I find this total bullcrap because as an owner of something she creates, she should accept constructive criticism on her end to make her website a more enjoyable experience for users instead of just crying like a little baby and banning everyone that tries to help her fix her flaws!

3. And lastly the community "Weekend Events"

OH. MY. FREAKING. GOD. the DAMN weekend events.

These events will drive you out of your fricking head with announcements saying you have to post on the forums and complaining about how people only use their website to download stuff just because they're not half weebs like the mods are and feel they shouldn't waste their life fully committing to this site.

And if you're a lurker (Like most people) you basically get laughed at with messages saying you can't download for the rest of the weekend which makes the weekend events such a mega crapshow.

So, to sum it all up and bring this all to a close, the MUGEN ARCHIVE is a beautiful website, just cursed with dumb mods who have no clue what they're doing. If you'd like to mention anything I missed, let me know if you can.

They steal other peoples content and…

They steal other peoples content and use it in the website in order to make money. This is called plagiarism and goes against both the creator, the original owner and Mugen Archive the group who uses plagiarism to make money.

This also means the site should be closed down because it violates terms of service, and blatantly steals from other people to make money.

Yet no one is stepping in to stop this?
