We had a red letter day for the 5 course meal with wine flight. Although the service was fine and the food was acceptable I wouldn't go there again. The courses were tiny and the mains come bare wit... See more

Not even attended and awful!
Not even attended and deserves a review!
Got a buy a gift voucher for here and wanted to book for my birthday. Tried calling them on and off for past 2 months and used their contact form on their website twice. Never had phone answered and no one has come back to me on the website enquiry form. We want to know the information needed to bring with us for the booking in relation to our voucher and ensure a table is booked. We will be travelling about 1.5 hours to come for the meal so do not want a wasted journey especially on Birthday!
MPW should be embarrassed to have his name on this chain - train your staff - or maybe get some staff?! At least we have had the courtesy to cancel our reservation as we understand restaurants deserve to know if you can or cannot attend - shame they give no respect back.
We also cancelled the booking as looking at previous reviews we do not want an awful meal with awful service. We have exchanged our buy a gift voucher for something we have already managed to book the same day and had great communication with the new company.
Wished we hadn't bothered going
Been today for a meal for two from the set menu with Prosecco.
Service very slow to start which I accept as it was busy. Placed our order for food and drink and waited nearly 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive.
Shortly after drinks arrived our main meals arrived before we had even had our starters and the sour dough bread that we ordered in addition never turned up at all.
Once we had finished our starters, our main courses quickly arrived, it looked and tasted like they had sat there since they brought them out the first time.
Steak was very poor as were the chips too. My wife's crab cake was so dry.
We last ate here a few months ago and the meal was poor then, which is why we thought that we would give it another try, sadly we won't be giving it another go as there are much better restaurants in Birmingham that are more deserving of our custom.
Went to MPW in Birmingham on 16 June…
Went to MPW in Birmingham on 16 June .this was a present for Christmas from my partners daughter .we were hoping this to be very special !
The place Was lovely great views etc .we ordered the fillet steak medium rare.plus extra sides of onion rings and green salad. The steak was tasteless and bland The steak knife was blunt and had difficulty trying to cut into the steak as well as the fork was twizzling round in my hand .! Eventually when I got to eat the steak it was dry tough and tasteless!!
The pepper corn sauce was like dish water !
The chips were ok and so was the extra serving of onion rings which was extra to pay for as well as the side salad! I ordered the bread and butter pudding which I thought would be light and fluffy with some crispy edges. But ended up with a square cut lump of tasteless doughy bread ! It was also on of the hottest days of the year ! The building has wonderful windows floor to ceiling ! We were feeling so hot and boiling I couldn’t wait to get out of there !it appeared that the air conditioning was not working!,
When we came to pay for the extras we had we found out that a 20% charge was automatically added to the bill ! Which is very American like !
To add onto the whole experience if we had travelled into Birmingham in a different car to mine there would be extra £8 to pay plus the cost of the parking
I will not be going back for many reasons .i am sure Marco has not tried or tested the food there lately and I would think he may be embarrassed of what’s happening
Thankfully we had a great waiter James
I have eaten many times at restaurants under Marcos name and had no issues
I did make a complaint and they got back to me in good time but I don’t think it will make much difference
Especially when I have read previous comments from other people !
I’m glad it’s not just me !
We can’t all be wrong
Thanks to James for saving the day and…
Thanks to James for saving the day and turning a nightmare into a thoroughly enjoyable visit. Such a nice guy and a credit to Marco Pierre Whites Steakhouse….
Bet MPW doesn't eat here.
Visited the Swansea branch of this chain for my daughter's birthday. 8 family members in total, granddaughter had a beef burger with a green mould bread roll. Cheesecake desserts were vile, grainy texture, sour taste all were rejected. Some of the main course meals were very bland, lacking in seasoning. To cap it all there was a constant smell of cannabis emanating from the staff room which was just around the corner from our table. When all of this was pointed out to the manager he was not particularly bothered, just removed the burger and cheesecakes from the bill. Bet Marco Pierre White wouldn't eat here. Never visiting here again.
Dreadful
Dreadful
The food wasn’t much better than what I’d make at home!!
My Grandson brought me for Mother’s Day…
My Grandson brought me for Mother’s Day and I had the most delicious Sunday roast. It was very accessible too which is something that is important to me now. I hope to come back to try the main menu. Thank you
We went to Milton Keynes restaurant at…
We went to Milton Keynes restaurant at Holiday Inn Central MK. It was for a special family birthday and would like to congratulate the chefs on the lovely food but especially the lady called Da I think that's what was on her badge. We were there last night I she was so lovely helpful. Although she was so professional she had so much time for our big party and nothing felt too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this and will be back again next time in Milton Keynes.
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FOOD
Had three bad experiences with these restaurants in several parts of the country contacted them on several occasions through different ways they never acknowledge my complaints or do any thing about them would not recommend any one using these restaurants bad customer service and bad food.
Had a two course mid day meal today…
Had a two course mid day meal today what a load of rubbish the starter was poor and the main a steak it would be an insult to aldi to say that the rubber they past off as a steak was from, what a rip off .
Marco at Milton Keynes
Went to Marco at Milton Keynes, what can I say.
Positive staff attentive polite
Cons
Really cold
Food bland over cooked dry chicken, the burger was dry including the bun, onion rings no better.
Tiramisu was poor
My wife liked the brownie
Huge let down considering the name.
I was bought an afternoon tea last year…
I was bought an afternoon tea last year for my 60th birthday, but then was informed that could not have afternoon tea and that had to exchange it for 2 course lunch at an extra cost. Myself and my daughter went to Birmingham restaurant to see there were people giving afternoon tea. The service was quick but they never engaged in any conversation and did not ask if we needed or wanted anything. I had the steak, it was bland and tough and the fries were tasteless, not impressed. Couldn't wait to leave. Would never return, so many other places that are much better. Very disappointed.
MPW London Steakhouse
Went for three course meal at London MPW steakhouse Service was impeccable by our own waiter (Darren). Drinks were excellent and food just as expected, beautiful. We would certainly visit again without hesitation. Many thanks to you and your team for an excellent experience.
For a steakhouse, the steaks were dire!
Dining with three others in Nottingham all had sirloin steak, all were dreadful, tough, grissle, under done - returned one suffered the other three, but left most.
Offered a discount, but as a steakhouse you expect at least a decent steak between us.
To be balanced the staff and service were excellent but sadly let down by the quality of the materials.
Not Impressed
We Ate at the Birmingham restaurant for a friends 65th birthday, I don’t even know where to start… upon arrival we ordered drinks and tried to pay with a £20 note but was told there was no change and it was card only, ok a bit annoying but we paid by card and went to our table with our friends.
Dinner was supposed to be served at 7pm but by 7.30 we were having to chase it up as it hadn’t arrived yet!
When it finally came the soup was served with no bread and we were told it was not included! But they did bring some dry toasted bread out eventually (no butter was provided!)
On to the mains, they brought the mains out but no vegetables, 10 mins later the veg finally arrived when most people had already finished their meal!
The meal itself was nice but was only luke warm.
The children were also made to wait an awful long time for their meals.
One persons meal was not brought out with ours and when her meal finally arrived about 15 mins after ours everyone else had finished theirs! Very unprofessional…
Now the pudding… the Apple and almond crumble was mainly crumble and very dry But it was nice if u managed to get any apple!!
My brother had ordered a cheese cake which looked and tasted lovely but then he gagged and pulled a long hair out of his mouth!!!
I told the person serving us and his responce was ‘oh sorry’. And he carried on doing what he was doing!
Overall I was so dissatisfied with the service and the food, I was really looking forward to the meal at Marcos and felt so sorry for my friend who’s birthday it was.
I did give an extra star due to the fact my mother is diabetic, upon arrival I told them this and they did bring her starter out within a few minutes, followed by her main when we had our starter.
But she had no veg and we had to ask for some peas.
Don't waste your money
I recently took my parents and sister to afternoon tea, the teapot spout was broken, the table cloth had a hole in it, some seats and sofas were very visibly ripped and there was no fine china, the plates and cups were the same as used within the NHS!! Thick off white plates, mugs and teapots. My sister vouched for this as she is a nurse. Very disappointing.
Disgusting treatment and customer…
Disgusting treatment and customer service. Booked this restaurant in Birmingham for my very special big birthday. We travelled from Kent and were so excited. Balloons and a cake delivered to the restaurant. Unfortunately we had a delay on the way partly due to traffic and we got a little lost in the city centre however, we knew we were going to be a bit late and tried for over an hour to contact them to let them know but no answer.
Upon arrival, we gave details to waiting staff and were left standing for more than 10 mins. The Manager appeared, said we were late !
We explained again and that we had tried over and over to contact them. The reply was they were too busy to answer the phone and we had lost our slot. Despite it being obvious with the cake etc, they did not bother to try to contact us. We accepted we could not have the full meal as planned and said we would just sit at our table, have a drink and cut the cake. It took another debate before we were told our table had been given away.
If this is the way Marco Pierre White runs his restaurants, it is appalling and I will NEVER book again.
Just felt so sad for my daughter who had organised it, walking around Birmingham City Centre with balloons and a cake crying. That was the most upsetting. So thanks MPW, this is a birthday I will remember for all the wrong reasons.
Dire value and food nearly as bad
We ere given a Xmas gift to the value of £100. For us what we got struggled to get to £20 for value.
Starter - basically fancy cheese on toast with some strong tasting leaf. 2 out of 10. Cheese had no taste and was dominated by the bread.
Main - steak - yep that was good. I didn't like the dry chips but my wife did. Paid extra for the leaf mixture. About £29 each in all each. Say 7 out of 10 but value 3!
I had a pud - bread and butter pudding with cream. Lidl do a better one. This was a cuboid lump with no raisins. Bland. 2 out of 10 for taste, 1 for value.
It is rare that we go out and find such a poor value establishment with food way way below expectation.
Oh the service was good - polite and professional.
So if you want to go somewhere with a big name and don't care about anything else you know where to book.
For interest this is the worst review we have given any hotel or restaurant.
Totally awful
Totally awful!
Pre booked a gluten free afternoon tea! Food was late as no gluten free options ready!
2 hours after eating I was violently ill sickness and diarrhoea. Missed the show I'd pre booked.
Complained to the restaurant, they couldn't give a stuff!
Afternoon tea at Birmingham
Afternoon tea at Birmingham is nothing special. Tea is served in chunky coffee mugs as an afterthought. Ordinary sandwiches and bland cakes.
