Title: Buyer beware — faulty bikes, no refunds, company closing

I purchased a bike from Modmo on 03/01/2025. From the start, the bike was not as described and faulty. I reported the faults within 5 weeks and requested a refund or repair multiple times.

The company acknowledged receipt of my complaints, but took no action. I waited, hoping for a resolution, but by November the bike was completely broken. I formally rejected the goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and asked for a full refund.

Modmo refused to provide a refund. I tried to recover the money through my credit card under Section 75, but the bank claimed I was outside their internal deadline — even though my complaints were reported promptly.

Now, it appears Modmo is closing down, showing they do not care about customers or faulty products.

Lesson for buyers:

Do not buy from Modmo.

They sell faulty bikes, ignore complaints, and will refuse refunds.

If something goes wrong, you may have no way to recover your money.

Fact: This is not an exaggeration — I have emails, purchase receipts, and attempted correspondence showing repeated attempts to resolve.

I bought my Modmo electric bike last year, and it didn’t even last 6 months before it broke. For the price, I expected much better quality and customer service. Unfortunately, Modmo has been terrible to deal with, they won’t repair it, replace it, or give me a refund.

Now I’ve got an expensive bike just sitting in my garage that I can’t even use. I’ve tried contacting them several times, but their support is slow and unhelpful. Honestly, I regret ever buying from Modmo. Avoid this company! they don’t stand behind their products.

My husband purchased a Modmo electric bike, which stopped working after its first proper use -- the electric assist simply failed. Modmo sent a replacement wheel, but this didn’t solve the issue.

Since then, we’ve tried for weeks to get in touch for a refund or even a proper response, but have heard absolutely nothing.

It’s incredibly disappointing given the high price and early enthusiasm we had for the brand. I would not recommend Modmo to anyone -- and I’m genuinely concerned that the company might be struggling, as it’s the only explanation for such poor communication and support.

Brought my Saigon back in April 2025, I had done some research and found a lot of negative reviews but I took the risk as the price was good. When the bike arrived it looked good, easy to assemble, well packaged and easy to use, then I tried to register it for the warranty but was unable to as the page on the QR code did not exist, the front brake never worked from day one, I tried bleeding it several times but nothing, turns out the pistons were seized solid in the caliper, I tried messaging Modmo but never got a reply, so ended up fitting a Shimano caliper. Then the bottom bracket started creaking and cracking, I tightened it but it didn't help, messaged Modmo and surprise no reply, I've now had the bike 6 months and done 2000km on it, now I need rear brake pads so I messaged Modmo to ask where to buy spare parts and again got no reply. So my opinion is buy at your own risk, I have had a few problems I've been able to fix myself at my own cost, but if you had trouble with the battery or motor I fear you have thrown you money away because it seems they are not interested in helping once they have sold you the bike, and finding compatible parts elsewhere is impossible.

Great bike but died within 12 months. No service / support. Can’t get a replacement battery so waste of money. Avoid.

These bikes are really good quality, I did have a problem unfortunately but I must say the company was Very helpful, and eventually sorted it all out for me. I don't think you can ask for more than that

I purchased a Modmo Saigon + and only after 4 charges the battery discharges after 20-24 hours. The LCD light stopped working. As the battery discharges there is heat produced at the LHS of the handle bars. I am scared to use it as this might be a fire hazard. The company does not respond to emails. I would not recommend anyone to purchase these bicycles.

I wish I read this before I purchased my bike. Terrible company that offers zero customer care! I received my bike with a NON removable battery. Reported the issue and 5 months later and still nothing.

Good when new , until the cheap parts start to fail & you can’t get replacement parts. No one ever replies to emails etc. so buyers beware. Bike needs new front motor as cheap plastic gears have fallen apart , so bike unusable!! VERY POOR

Andrew was very responsive in the lead up to buying the bike over their online chat service, replying to all my questions promptly.
The bike was delivered, well packaged but noticed that the battery keys were not included. I reached out four times over a week and got no response.
Unfortunately I encountered a fault with the bike. After only riding it for 4 days and cycling less than 80km the motor began cutting in and out.
Reaching out again to the company over email this time, i have received no reply. Have taken this issue up with my bank requesting a charge back.
Regardless of the fault, i was entitled to a 15 day free test drive. All i had to do was contact the company within 15 days and not cycle more than 100km.
Almost 1 month later and many ways to contact Modmo. I have heard nothing. I would avoid.

Bought the Saigon S ltd edition in December, I received the bike of the wrong size and with a damaged front wheel. Bike has all the power pack features which is currently not offered by any key player. Bike sent back , refund process was slow but all sorted in the end by Andrew.

- Can do better pack and ship option(s)
- Customer Care is not really happening and I feel a bit unheard
I am providing 5 stars so that new owners continue to develop and make the brand better inline with customer expectations.

I purchased Modmo Saigon S 2024 Ltd Edition after extensive research, and in terms of performance, it truly delivers. The bike is fantastic—smooth riding, battery life, and excellent motor power. For daily commuting or leisure rides, this e-bike checks all the boxes.
Unfortunately, my experience with the company has been far less positive. From the moment I asked for a spare battery, the customer service fell short. They did not respond to my emails, leaving me feeling ignored and unsupported. Shame MODMO team.
Overall, I love the e-bike but can't fully recommend the company due to their lack of support.

I bought the Saigon S in May and have been really impressed by the quality.

Given the original recall I was initially wary when researching for a new bike. But I spoke to the team and they’re doing a great job relaunching Modmo.

Really impressed and loving the bike.

Received my Saigon S in early June and it’s a quality piece of kit. Use it to commute and it rides a treat. Had one small issue, contacted the team and they dealt with it in a couple of days. Great aftercare and a great bike.

I bought a Saigon S back in May, and have been using it regularly ever since! I spoke with Andrew before I bought it as I was a bit worried based on other reviews and reports I’d heard, but felt much more at ease and confident after speaking with him.

Its def a great bike, would def recommend and it’s serving me well over varied terrains.

I got a Saigon Ltd editon couple of weeks ago and it's been great. Use it to commute and go out at weekends.
Bought from the website, delivered quickly and all good.

Excellent bike.

Use the Saigon S Model regularly with no issues. Had no issues with the Battery Cap.

New owner is very responsive and answered my queries efficiently. Would 100% recommend.
