Misspent Summers is a cycling media company and store producing and selling books, photo prints and merchandise from the world of mountain biking and two-wheeled good times. The company is UK-based but has a worldwide pool of contributors, staff and followers. >>We love love love bikes and we are passionate about our products. We try our best to make everything to the highest standards using humans, small producers and responsible manufacturing while being as transparent as possible. >>After making our first downhill yearbook (Hurly Burly) in 2016, we went on to make an enduro yearbook (The World Stage) the following year, as well as several other projects including Eskapee Anthology, Downtime EP and Spent (about everything we think makes mountain biking great). We now sell our books, magazines, zines, clothing and merchandise worldwide and enjoy our relationship with a core group of fans and supporters who help us keep creating cycling media and products. >>Our newsletters are circulated for free and include news, views, opinions and rumours from the world of mountain biking. While we are massive fans of high-level racing and our yearbooks are the core of our business, we care about promoting mountain biking and cycling as fun, not too serious, a friendly community and adventurous – that's why we make Spent and why you'll find lots of fun (we think) stuff on our social media channels and in our free-to-view YouTube films like Tea & Biscuits and Cosmic. >>Anyway! Enough rambling. Every review, good or not so good, helps us understand and improve what we do so thank you in advance for taking the time to leave a note. >>To hear from Ben and James, the founders and chief distractionists, listen to their recent Downtime Podcast episode here: https://youtu.be/cZpRk-AHMDg

This website impresses with its excellent bundles and fair pricing. More importantly, it plays a crucial role in preserving our sport's history. Unlike electronic records that can be altered or erased, books safeguard historical facts against changing narratives, preventing opinions from overshadowing truths. Holding a physical book requires no technology or power, ensuring accessibility and reliability in documenting history.

Mountain Biking Distilled

Unparalleled photos, authentic insight and informed observations of gravity mountain bike racing. Newsletter misses nothing, merch does what you'd hope and the print books are a treat.

You'll love this

Stunningly put together print matter documenting the scene with the best shots from my fave photographers, year after year, from world cup to niche stuff. All that with attention to detail that brings a tear to my eye, making revisiting past events a real treat.
Also the newsletter is cool AF

Moutain Bike Harbinger

Best, most satisfying to read, and the highest value mountain bike books I have ever had in my hands. The books themselves are thick and heavy as you already know they are gonna be packed with awesome shots, from some of the most talented photographers ever, filled with rad riding and awesome writing from people who dedicated their lives to mountain biking. I have got SPENT I and II and they are sick, stuffed with loads of different brief tales with their personalities and designs mirroring the writer's identity. Shoutout to all of you for putting so much effort into creating all of this! Misspent Summers tells the untold, incredibly precious bits of a greater story called Mountain biking that without them would go forgotten or even worse unoticed.

True record of history

Great web site, good bundles, reasonable prices, but apart from that, they are vital in keeping the history of our sport. Electronic records can be deleted, changed and used according to the latest narrative. Preventing opinion becoming facts. When opinion trumps facts, humanity and society is lost.
Recording facts in book form is true historic recording.
Plus holding a book in your hand, doesn't need an electronic device or a charged battery.

In a world of digital media where everything is disposable and forgotten in seconds it is great that there are still people out there that value the feel and smell of a quality document.
The yearbooks are the only place you can get a record of the races together with great photos and numerous stats.
I miss the Dirt Mountain Bike magazines and these yearbooks provide a taste of what they were like.
The broadcasting of World Cups may have changed for better or worse, but long may the yearbooks continue exactly as they are.

The best books about our favorite sport

I am a big fan of all the books they produced so far. They managed to keep some craftsman feeling when you open them and mixing it with the highest quality of bigger companies. For me that's a bit the best of both world.
Every year I am waiting for the yearbook to be ready. Specially this year as it is more and more difficult to follow our favorite sport with the TV right sold to obscure companies. It is good to know that nothing change at Misspent Summers and the book will be ready later in the year.
Thanks for your hard work. I have all the yearbook since beginning and not ready to stop.

Downtime EP

My experience is mainly through Downtime EP & as much as I love a magazine I struggle to read text printed over images where this is great images & separate text.
