i will never use this company again - refused a refund on an uused camera that i ordered from them. i highly recommend avoiding them.
I would like to start with the good - I bought the SLR670-X Ming Edition (Type i), and I love a lot about this camera - The USB C cable for charging looks and works great, how they squeezed a battery into this form factor is amazing, the viewfinder is nice and bright and pretty clean, and the rollers are in mint condition - the polaroids come out as clean as can be expected. So thank you for that MiNT.
I just have a couple of issues that could easily be avoided with this $1000 camera, (I wish I could attach pictures):
The labels/stickers on the viewfinder area and front area appear to be new, and yet are glued on at uneven angles - it does not give a great impression on first inspection.
The gold on the metal hinge looks awesome but it is just paint that easily rubs off, so this too gives a poor impression after just a few days usage. I may paint this again myself to remedy this issue (but why should I need to in the first place?)
But the biggest concern for me was opening the camera - it felt like the viewfinder hinge was just going to get pulled off instead of the device opening properly - surely this could be made smoother before shipping? One of my SX-70's recently had the viewfinder hinge and shutters pop off during normal usage and now needs difficult repairs to be operational again.
Had I never used an SX-70 before, I probably would have ended up breaking this MiNT camera as soon as I tried to use it for the first time...
MiNT have been reassuring I must state, informing me that the camera is under warranty and they would fix any issues that arise, and that the hinge mechanism will get smoother with time.
I just wish that they would avoid sending a stiff camera in the first place.
I will also need to take time to redo the stickers, something that really should be done properly already when you are paying $1000 for a normally $300 camera (that comes with 5 decade old labels that are usually put on perfectly). As a working photographer I give customers my best, and make sure to accommodate those that are unsatisfied for any reason. Please try to do the same for your customers MiNT - some attention to detail would go a long way!
