'The Mill at Sonning' theatre is an amazing venue!
'The Mill at Sonning' theatre is an intimate venue with seating for 217 people situated alongside the Thames River. It was once a Victorian mill, milling wheat right up to 1969, converted to a theatre by Tim and Eileen Richards in 1977, now owned by their daughter, Sally Hughes.
It has a lovely ambience, with a delightful restaurant and charming bar on the premises. There is a waterwheel visible in the bar and energy is sourced from the Thames and converted to electricity for powering all the lighting in the theatre, bar and restaurant.
Every type of entertainment is catered for, whether plays, musicals or comedy acts, and the staff go out of their way to make all visitors welcome and provide an unforgettable experience! The attention to detail is impressive and disabled visitors are well looked after!
My wife and I went to see the play, 'Death Comes To Pemberley' with James Bye and Jamie-Rose Duke. It is a superb play adapted from the novel by P D James which in turn is based on Jane Austin's characters from Pride and Prejudice ... very well acted and produced!
The staff at The Mill are wonderful, under the leadership of Managing Director and owner, Sally Hughes, and General Manager, Mark Chappell.
Visiting 'The Mill at Sonning' is like going to a friend for a lovely dinner with some entertainment to match!
Highly recommended!
