I’ve inherited my great-nan’s piano which was great fun to play but needed some work done to it. Some keys rattled, the base overpowered the treble and certain keys required more pressure than others. I asked my piano tuner for a recommendation as to who could do the work, he suggested Andy Briggs from Mickleburgh’s. I was a little anxious as the piano is of very sentimental value and over 100 years old, but straight away could trust that Andy would take good care of it. From start to finish, Andy was truly fantastic. He understood that my main aim was to preserve the piano as much as possible whilst increasing its playability. He communicated clearly through the whole process and the results are far better than I ever expected. He clearly took a great level of care, the piano is such a joy to play now. Thank you so much Andy!

I had researched two digital pianos online, but wanted to see them and play them before I made a decision. I went to Mickleburgh, where the pianos are more expensive than online retailers, but I'm happy to pay the extra to support the local community and in case I encounter any after-sales problems. One of the three assistants in the otherwise empty shop directed me to the two pianos. I started playing one, then asked a question immediately. But the sales assistant had walked away and was playing with his mobile phone back at the counter. I tried to work, unsuccessfully, through the menus when another assistant approached me. I asked for advice and the first two pieces of information she gave me were incorrect (I'd already researched them, which is how I arrived at my shortlist). I suggested that she may be wrong, and we discovered that she was. I asked about how the menus worked, and how to select various settings, but she didn't know. She said she would find out and walked away. I was expecting her to return with the manual. During this time, sales assistant No1 was still playing with his phone. The second one didn't return within 5 minutes, so I walked out the shop, none the wiser about which piano to pick, in disgust. When I said I don't mind paying extra to buy locally, I don't think I'm being unreasonable in expecting the sales staff to know the products they're selling and/or to actually make an effort to make a sale. Needless to say, I won't be returning. I've made about 40 purchases, from sheet music to pianos from Mickleburgh over the years, but these sales assistants clearly aren't of the same calibre as those that have helped me on previous visits.

Great setup on a Faith Saturn acoustic guitar. Turn around was only 5 days, and a very reasonable price. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the guitar now feels and plays even better than when new. Would thoroughly recommend.

Really happy with the mallet, it’s well made and perfect with my singing bowl. Arrived quickly.

Back in the summer of 2024 I thought I would explore getting a new piano in exchange for my Kawai Grand which needed some attention. I first thought a new digital piano would be good but in my visits to the shop I was guided to try the many acoustic pianos Mickleburgh have as well. Their patience with me, their willingness to come out and assess my Grand, and the range of new and second hand pianos on display was so impressive. Of course I went for an acoustic instrument, as I think they knew I would. I bought a completely restored Steinway Z, which had been lovingly reworked by Andy. It is beautiful to play and I am appreciating it's real quality.
The excellent service did not stop there. Malcolm came and tuned and revoiced the piano as its tone was just a bit too bright for my room. After a while I found the piano keyboard was just a bit low and I was getting back ache when playing for any length of time. Andy and crew came, took the piano back to the workshop and raised it on casters, bringing it home within the day. And it will be tuned again in about four weeks time.

Ed advised my Mum and I today on a new keyboard (a Yamaha P225 with stand and other accessories) and he couldn’t have been more helpful. He took time to explain, demonstrated various brands and communicated clearly at each stage of the process what I might/should be looking out for plus a little bit of science behind it. Also helped with loading items into car post sale and couldn’t have been friendlier. Thanks so much! Can’t recommend enough.

I have bought countless things from Mickleburghs, and have always had a lovely time. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Unfortunately, as I went in to test some grand pianos, an older man (who has been mentioned in other reviews) came up and stood, staring at me until I noticed him. He started interrogating me and telling me the showroom is there for people to try before buying, not to practice on. I made it VERY clear that I was there to buy, and the man who initially talked me through the pianos assured me I was allowed to test them. The older man talked down to me, and even laughed at a question I had. I am a young woman, and am very used to older men making assumptions about me, this was no different. TO ANY YOUNG WOMEN, I would reccomend going to a shop where they'll respect you.

There was only one other customer in the entire shop, I was told I could test the grands, I was also told I could take pictures of the pianos to send to a friend who the piano was for. I certainly didn't have any food or drink, and was nothing but respectful. I had only been playing for 10 minutes before this incident. And had only had time to test 4 of the different pianos.

I'm aware you can rent specific pianos by the hour, but as said above, I wasn't there to practice on one piano, I needed to test a variety to BUY. I left almost in tears.

The rest of the staff are angels, and it's a shame that I have to stop buying and encourage my friends the same.

Bought a Squier Classic Vibe bass from them and delivered in 24 hours - holy moly! Better than Amazon and many othe online retailers- well done guys!

Also this bass has the best neck of all my basses and I have original fenders from 76 to mid 2000’s and they are all way fatter than this baby - chapeau to Squier
