Absolutely love Mei Leaf

Absolutely love Mei Leaf, I have been ordering from them since 2019, I’ve tried many other suppliers and nothing even compares or comes close to the good and quality teas you can get from Meileaf, it rarely has any hit and misses compared to many other well known “true tea” companies out there.

I’m happy to pay the premium for my teas for the work they do procuring them which can be a very labour intensive process.

Great products and customer service

Their products are great, very enjoyable tea and well thought out brewing equipment. I can really recommend them!

With the whole BREXIT mess, shipping to EU countries got very complicated. I have ordered two times with MeiLeaf and had problems both times outside of their responsibility (customs or package shipped back for no reason). They have been extremely helpful both times to fix the issues.

In summary, great products and great customer service.

EU buyers beware

My purpose with this review is just to warn EU customers. I don't have complaints regarding their products.

I was charged a little over 50€ by customs when I ordered from Spain, even though their website says that "IOSS" packages "should not be subjected to extensive customs clearance nor incur additional charges" (quoted from their shipping information as of Oct 18, 2023).

They've evidently had problems like this in the past. They even stopped shipping to Ireland and Belgium entirely. They still choose to ship to some countries even when they know people are having customs issues though. They say they've added a warning in the checkout when ordering from Spain, but that was after my purchase, even though they were already aware of people having similar issues.

I did reach out to them when I got the quote, and they said I should refuse the package. But by then, I had already signed some documents from customs agreeing to the customs inspection (that said nothing about having to pay 50€ for it). And since MeiLeaf had already misled me once, I didn't trust them, and didn't want to end up refusing the package, not getting any tea, and still having to pay customs if they decided that I still had to pay them for work they had already done or whatever. I had already signed stuff, so I figure they could do that.

Best tea around no doubt!

I've never been left disappointed with any mei leaf product in fact they have always taught me there is another level to tea! My only complaint would be the absurd minimum spend for free postage, consider the teas are highly priced and low in weight it seems insane I can spend £50 on teas and then you expect another £5+ for the most basic of shipping. I believe you have to spend excess of £70 three times just to receive a coupon for free postage!

Wonderful customer support

Wonderful customer support. I needed some information about the packet, sent an email on Saturday, and got a response with the required information a few hours later.
Innovative goods and great quality teas. Prices are a bit higher, at least in comparison with The Czech Republic, so I do not order much often, but the quality of products and services justifies it.
I appreciate especially the flute brewer, now I will drink gong fu style much more often.

The *only* business with both a website shop *and* a real tea house in London!!!

I can heartily and genuinely recommend both Mei Leaf's website, and their shop in London, UK for buying competitively priced, excellent Chinese (and a few Japanese!) single estate, whole leaf teas. Also, tisanes, herbs and some tea/fruit blends. Absolutely brilliant.

Tea is not meant crushed into dust and put in a paper and plastic bag with glued edges. It is meant to be taken from the tree in whole leaves, cared for and processed only by those with generations of knowledge of traditional Chinese tea making and then presented, still in withered, processed and dried whole leaf form, to be brewed 'gong fu' style in either a small pot or a gaiwan.

The teas from Mei Leaf are absolutely these sorts of teas and I will absolutely continue to buy teas online from Mei Leaf, and to visit their London tea house both to buy teas and to drink tea!

My favourite aspect of Mei Leaf is their shop in London - I visit quite regularly and can say wholeheartedly that you will not find another proper tea house in London which has both the range and quality of teas that Mei Leaf can offer. Indeed, all the other tea houses I know of in London do not have a tea house which serves tea on demand, however you can sample a variety of teas in these establishments - but only if it is your intention to buy.

What is truly remarkable about Me Leaf's tea house is that you can visit, order tea, and *not* be immediately presented with a large teapot - you will be asked what sort of tea ware you prefer: a gaiwan or small clay yixing pot for example, typically holding only around 100ml of water, but which can be brewed numerous times - this is an experience everyone who thinks they love tea but has not tried Chinese gong fu tea drinking absolutely must experience, because once you do, you will not go back to teabags - I can almost guarantee you this.

Mei Leaf is the only place in London that you can sit for hours drinking some of the finest teas available both inside and outside China/Japan.

They deserve 10 out of 5 stars ;-)
