Simnel cake was as gorgeous as ever but…
Simnel cake was as gorgeous as ever but for once was let down by delivery. Ordered in February for delivery 14/04 for sons birthday (his annual choice for birthday cake). Finally arrived on the 17tj despite being out for delivery on 14th. Disappointed 😞

Nasty Carrot Cake
Ordered a Simnel Cake and a Carrot Cake for Easter and a birthday party. Whilst the Simnel Cake was fine, the Carrot cake was inedible due to a bad smell and horrible taste. After complaining I was informed that I had opened the Carrot cake past its use by date. No refund offered. Whilst I accept that I opened the cake a couple of days late I did not expect something from Meg Rivers to go off that quickly.
I will not be ordering from Meg Rivers again.
Seriously disappointed.
Regarding Meg Rivers 'not our fault' reply, the cake WAS stored in a Meg Rivers cake tin in a cool dry place!

Hi There, our cakes are free from preservatives and use fresh ingredients so the best before is short in some recipe instances, carrot is one as it contains fresh carrot. This is explained on the website and each product comes with a best before on the outer packaging. I also explained this in our original communications where you accepted that you'd left the cake for several days after the best before. Storing in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight will prolong the condition of the cake. With kind wishes, Jessica

I have found everyone extremely helpful when I have telephoned the company, especially helping me when I have got confused with my orders!!!!!!
The Simnel cake that I had instead of it going to my daughter as they were skiing, was excellent - very tasty.
Am looking forward to hearing the grandchildren's comments on the cakes as the months go by.
