Well, you should be more transparent on our adds. When you market a free event on your website it does not mean that it is free. I take the example of the Life drawing. How on earth you market it free... See more

The worst platform in the world
The worst platform in the world.
Slow, unreliable, terrible editing features. Yet they charge a huge amount of money to organizers. Sooner or later this company will fold. They simply don’t care about their users and just want to make money, without giving any thought to the end user . Avoid !!

Ongoing unauthorized charges despite account deletion – zero accountability
I permanently deleted my Meetup account weeks ago, yet Meetup is still attempting to charge me £79.68 every single day. I have already reported this as unauthorized activity to my bank and emailed support multiple times... no resolution, no acknowledgement, and no phone number to escalate to.
This is not just poor service; it’s a serious breach of trust. Attempting to bill a deleted account is unacceptable and borders on fraud. There is no way for customers to actually speak to a human being, and support emails are ignored.
If Meetup does not immediately confirm that these charges have been stopped and refund any unauthorized attempts, I will escalate this further with my bank, Trading Standards, and share my experience across consumer protection channels.
This company needs to overhaul its billing and customer support process right now it feels like customers are left defenseless.
They can't spell when asking for help
They can't spell when asking for help. I've tried using Contact Us but with no luck. Maybe someone reads these.
Greedy company after being aquired…
Greedy company after being aquired by capital hungry seagulls that preys on people building and running a community. Moving to nomeo.io & facebook events. Terrible company, terrible support & overall negative drag on humanity.
What's the point of paying for Meetup…
What's the point of paying for Meetup Pro?
I pay $250 every 6 months for Meetup Pro, and I honestly have to ask: what exactly am I paying for?
As an organizer, I rely on Meetup to reach out to new members—send them a welcome message, share class schedules, and guide them through how to join. Suddenly, I’m restricted from messaging, with no warning, no explanation, just a silent block. No notification. Nothing.
How is this “Pro” service if I can’t communicate with the people I’m paying to reach? That defeats the entire purpose of organizing on this platform. If I can’t connect with potential members, promote my events, or guide people, then what value am I getting?
It feels like Meetup is happy to charge top dollar but doesn’t care whether the service actually works for organizers. I’m extremely disappointed.
We were billed for a subscription…
We were billed for a subscription without advance notice at the beginning of April 2025. I have spent hours trying to contact them and sending them messages about cancelling our subscription and there have been no responses.
It is disgraceful business etiquette and service.
I agree with all the others who have posted their grievances.

This is a scam
This is a scam! The events aren't real but a way to get your email address. They keep pushing events back and it doesn't actually happen.
Scheduled a meeting two weeks out to…
Scheduled a meeting two weeks out to have a conversation with someone and they canceled the last minute with no communication.
I am glad alternatives exist
I am glad alternatives exist, because I was only able to save our community by migrating from meetup. Their disgraceful service is a burden on the society and communities they operate in.
Not worth it! Scam
They either do first month free or big discount on 6 months. The service is terrible and zero support and people rsvp for events and never show. They offer zero support. They offer no prorated refunds for canceling the service at 3 months. Don’t fall for it and zero support. Don’t do it.
Not very effective
I have not had any real luck on this app. I had a free account and found it frustrating sending all these messages and hardly ever having them returned. I do not understand why people have any profile and picture at all if a person can not see any characteristics of the person. Many people ignored my messages.
Shocking!!
Shocking!!! The owners as of 2025 are a disgrace. Syphoning off as much money as they can, providing a below standard quality of UX and features. Then extorting members for subscriptions and hijacking their groups if they do not pay. The most tragic thing is that the service the business provides (IRLMeetups) is beneficial to society. Only the present owners only care about money. Sad !
The worst pricing strategy I have seen…
The worst pricing strategy I have seen ever. There were so many people who were not monetizing their groups, because they were too small or for voluntary stuff. And the way you started closing all those groups is just insanely unethical. I dont think you guys will be around for too long.
Predatory subcription
Welcome to 2025, where you need to pay a freakin' subcription not to be limited to send DMs, or not to have a low priority on waiting list for events.
Great idea for an app but a sh!23T website and app
Great idea but a sh!2T app and website. Adding an event to your calender from the website doesn’t work you need to do it manually or run the risk of missing an event you’ve said you would go to. The app shows up as the phone display on ipad and when you log in it says you don’t belong to any meet up groups although you do. Ie your group info on the website doesn’t carry over to the app. Then they have the nerve to up the cost for organisers to advertise events and want us to pay for priority listing on the wait list. When we find a better app its goodbye meetup.
No transparency, no fairness – just taking your money
I was charged $9.99 for a Meetup+ monthly subscription, even though I didn’t use the service and canceled immediately. When I requested a refund, Meetup refused, citing their internal policy that monthly subscriptions are “non-refundable.”
The worst part? They don’t inform you of this policy clearly before charging your card. The information is buried deep in the help section, not shown during checkout or subscription activation. Even worse — their refund policy is only sent to you in a link AFTER they’ve already charged you and you complain.
There is no transparency, no proper warning, no fair trial period like other platforms offer — only a desire to profit at the expense of uninformed users.
This is deceptive and unethical. I've filed complaints to BBB and FTC. I recommend staying far away from Meetup+.
used to be good
this used to be a good site but has become mostly shitty, annoying and spammy with popup dialogues that can't be dismissed
Horrible experience.
Horrible experience.
I've been using it for a few years, and when they doubled their prices, tried to quit it: I still got charged, and they couldn't issue a full refund (still fighting with them to get it...)
Stay away of this platform.
Platform itself is pretty good
Platform itself is pretty good, but customer service is awful as it's run by bots.
