Do not join Mealpal.

Do not join Mealpal. What a bunch of bleeps. I was a member until lockdown. I was told I could put my plan on hold until we came back to the cbd after covid. No one was working in the city and the restaurants were closed. I was assured my credits would be waiting for me. Really, it was a once in a lifetime situation. I got back today, ready to order a meal and my credits were gone. I emailed them what the bleeping f ? "Your credits expired". I explained the sitch. No sympathy. Instead they tried to blackmail me -buy $55 more of credits and we'll reinstate the ones you lost. What BS. I would never use 100 credits in a month and they would just expire again. What a joke. Stay away. I hope this company folds..They are a big scam. Anyway, if you are thinking of joining, beware. The meals you get are smaller than the normal meals and you don't really save much.

I got scammed too

I got scammed too. Mealpal used the pandemic to their advantage. In true scumbag exploitative fashion, in moment of crisis, they decide to deactivate and wipe out unused meals and plans, and charge for new plan, without any advance notice! When I wrote them to ask about it, they said it's in the terms and conditions. Way to go Mealpal. Send endless promotional emails to get new business when times are good, but secretly deactivate plans when times are bad. Couldn't even send one warning email to customers to spend down or cancel plan to avoid losing meals or undue charges. Disgusting!

Meal pal is a complete scam

Meal pal is a complete scam. I also enrolled in their flex plan and was completely caught off guard when all my meals disappeared and they charged me AGAIN for a full year's worth of meals. I was not able to use my meals during the pandemic and have not been back to he office. I received no communications of the new charges and when I contacted them, they said too bad, it's part of the sign-up process. Everyone please beware how they make money by scamming you!

I had a "flexible" account that I haven't been able to use since March 2020 for obvious reasons. I didn't know MealPal was going to charge me again automatically this year. I reached out to them and they brushed it off as these are the rules, you were told about this when you signed up. Never mind that there's a global pandemic, people are struggling right now and their Mealpal subscription might not be top of mind. So I just suggested to them that they remind people when their subscription is about to autorenew and they're about to lose meals they've paid for, and then they replied that they remind everyone when their accounts will no longer be on hold. Their reply had nothing to do with what I was talking about. My exchange with them showed that they're only too happy to take advantage of customers during the pandemic.

I only knew bc i suddenly got an email asking me to order lunch!!!! Based on the reviews I've read below, this really is the ultimate scam and to do so during COVID is really s shameful act!!!

They scammed me at the end

They scammed me at the end! So right when my plan renewed it self, I reached out to cancel since covid just hit. They informed me there’s no refund/cancellation so I went on hold. After I got back on off of hold, I have 12 meals left, but the app wouldn’t let me access anything and payment info kept popping up since my credit card expired. Once I entered my credit card info, it charged me for a new cycle ASAP! I contacted them day of and explain multiple times to multiple costumer service representatives my situation but they all kept telling me there’s no refund. It makes not since. I went on hold right when my cycles renewed which means I should have 30 days till next billing but can’t use my 12 meals till I enter my new credit card and got charge another 12 right when I got back on the app. So I have 24 total and couldn’t even use the 12 new ones. I then proceeded to file a dispute but MealPal told them I had ordered lunch during that time period. Yes because that was my original 12 meals from when I first paid for in the beginning of the pandemic! I’ve never seen a business that operates like this, truly shady and will never come back to it.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize you had a frustrating experience. Unused meals typically expire when an account is placed on hold. The exception we made for our customers impacted by the pandemic allows for meals to rollover from one plan to the next. If you were not given this opportunity, please email us at kivers@mealpal.com. We’d be happy to look into this further for you!

They lure you in thinking you will pay…

They lure you in thinking you will pay as you go (pay for ten or twelve meals, then buy another set of meals *after you've used up* the first set, and so on.) A coworker referred me and I used it a few times. I think I had 10 meals. Then, they switched to pay by month. I wasn't aware of this. They are charging $91/month even during a pandemic when many restaurants are closed and we are all working from home under stay at home mandates. When I realized this today, I emailed them. I was still planning to use my bank of meals at some point, I mean, I have about 15 months stored up at this point. But they just cancelled the account without asking me if that's what I wanted, taking my money and now I can't even use the banked up meals, assuming I had any. Next step will be my bank to report them for fraud, after that I'll file a complaint with the attorney generals office. This is a scammy company. Please beware.

This is a scam a shady company

This is a scam and it is a shady company. Shame on them. I have used mealpal since last year even introduced my friends to join which I very regret. I paid for March service $92 but since the pandemic started, I couldn’t have any meals. I put my account on hold and have the whole month credit rollover as mealpal staff instructed to do so. I also plan to reactivate my account whenever I go back to work. Turn out they told me my March credits can’t be rolled over to next year unless I reactivate my account by the year end. The only way I can do is to just cancel the service and lose my $92! My friends have same situations! Extremely ridiculous and the company is totally a joke! Please don’t use them!

I have been using mealpal since the last year until the pandemic started. On March, I paid for their service but the pandemic suddenly hit NYC and many places were closed. I only used 2 meals instead of 12 and they refused to refund me the remained meal. I will never use mealpal again, they take your money away !

Even after pausing the app, still got charged monthly

After the pandemic, MealPal gave me an option to "pause" my plan until further notice. I cancelled and then never clicked on the app as I was under the impression that it was "paused". Then in October, when I was reviewing my credit card statements, I noticed a charge from MealPal. After further research, I noticed they have been charging me for every single month leading up to October. In the MealPal app, it shows clearly that I did not pick up food since Feb 25, 2020 yet I still get monthly charges. I finally was able to cancel my plan in October, but only got refunded for that one month. I asked if there could be some type of refund compensation, given that we are in a pandemic and everyone has left the city to work from home, along with my confusion about their "pause" option on the app, and why I was charged monthly while under the impression the app was on hold. No accommodations were given. Instead, I was ignored. Not only did I get charged monthly, I was also charged the maximum rate of $91/month. That's their 20-day plan. This is so disappointing because I used to be a very loyal member of MealPal and found it very convenient to pick up lunch while working in the city. I do not think I will be continuing with this service as they have taken over $600 from my bank account.

Scam

I had my subscription paused until October. And I forgot to pause my plan as I lost my job in October. But when I requested Mealpal to refund the subscription money they rejected my request. I requested them but they did not care about my situation.

Please never trust MealPal.

SCAM

First of all. I wouldn’t rate a star but for me to proceed with this review I have to rate it lol. Anyways, Mealpal is not really your “pal”, it is a scam. They are happy to take your money, charge you every month, with no way to cancel. If you want to cancel, you have to email them, and they don't write back. So yea. Just don’t bother to subscribe it.

Going to court. Very bad experience

I used MealPal 1 month when I was in the USA because there was an offer. Before this month finished I entered in the website and cancelled my subscription. The company of course says I did not canceled it, but I did. The thing is that I left the US and never used the service! They can check that, they can see that I didnt buy any food. However, there are 3 months left to be refunded and the customer service said there is nothing they can do.. almost 300 dollars. I am going to court. If anyone wants to join forces please let me know. I think is so sad and unethical a business that wanted to take money from the people in this way. I was always promoting mealpal to other people and now thats the sad situation Im in. Definitely dont recommend them.
