Good software, quick customer service. I use it for qualitative analysis research.

10+ years using MAXQDA, it never disappoints. I've tried several qualitative analysis software, and MAXQDA has the easiest, prettiest, most intuitive and most functional interface. It doesn't glitch and lose all your coding like NVIVO, and their customer service is incredible. I haven't had many issues or concerns at all, but the few times that something came up— whether related to function or pricing— their customer service replies very fast, are always kind, and solutions-oriented. I love it.

In my doctoral research on modeling the emergence of parasitic weeds (Striga spp.) across smallholder maize farming systems in Central Malawi, I employed a mixed-methods approach that required the integration and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data. MAXQDA proved to be an indispensable tool throughout this process. I used the software primarily to analyze qualitative data from focus groups, farmer interviews, and mediated modeling sessions, enabling me to systematically code and organize themes related to farmer preferences, knowledge systems, and perceived barriers to adopting Striga control practices (SCPs). The software's visual tools and memo functions helped me trace patterns in the social and cultural dynamics influencing agricultural decision-making—insights that became critical for parameterizing the system dynamics model.

MAXQDA’s ability to manage and triangulate data from multiple sources was crucial to maintaining the rigor and coherence of my interdisciplinary work. It allowed me to bridge farmer narratives with quantitative outputs from choice experiments and crop modeling, ensuring that local knowledge and context were not lost in translation. The clarity and organization that MAXQDA brought to my qualitative analysis ultimately improved the validity of my models and enriched the dissertation’s policy implications. This is great software, developed by a great team. Having used Verbi products for a decade, I find them to be the best qualitative and mixed analysis software available. I use MAXQDA for teaching qualitative data analysis and for my own research projects. It allows you to collect, organise and analyse data from a variety of sources and formats all in one place. I’m also a fan of how intuitive, flexible and user-friendly the Maxqda interface is — even advanced features can be mastered quickly. I also like how Verbi creates a network of users and provides educational events and materials. They're also super friendly.

MAXQDA has become my go-to software for qualitative and mixed-methods analyses thanks to its diverse possibilities. The support team is consistent and helpful, demonstrating not only technical expertise but also a genuine interest in supporting academic research.

Recently there were some problems with MAXQDA's artificial intelligence on my computer, but very quickly the support team solved the problems and in the end I learnt more about using the software.

The response from Support was immediate and detailed. They made an effort to understand my situation and questions, and they proposed an individually tailored solution.

With a view to the range and especially the mixed-methods tools included in MaxQDA, it has been the go-to Software for me for qualitative and mixed-methods analyses. However, I am frustrated by the priorities that seem to have been set recently. The switch to a subscription-only model and the emphasis on AI tools and additional statistic packages runs counter to what I perceive to be a need to overhaul the base performance of the software. Two issues in particular have plagued my experience with MaxQDA for a while. First, often arbitrary and usually unnecessary word limits for document names, codes, and paraphrases. Second, and more fundamentally, the performance of MaxQDA is still underwhelming for a professional, full-price software (at least on my Apple Silicon based Mac). This regards frequent and unexpected crashes and data loss. Regarding the latter, it is disappointing that MaxQDA does not have a full version history feature; if, which happens frequently, rather large parts of transcripts or other documents are deleted, they cannot be made undone with 'undo' and the new project file overwrites the original one; automatic backups can be set to run at maximum (!) once every 24h. These and other performance issues make MaxQDA feel like an unreliable platform to work with more complex projects. I hope that updates, also for recent versions such as Max2022, will address these performance issues and that security features can be reconsidered.

I was struggling to find a right pricing plan as I am no longer a student but a graduate who applied for multiple PhD programs and was waiting for admission results. I tried Chatbot service, which wasn't helpful, and the timezone difference wasn't helping either. I somehow was able to get in touch with customer service, and am so thankful for the service I received.

I have been using MaxQDA for my courses and my own research. It has been a trusty tool for my work and the company has continued to upgrade and improve its product - the most recent was to integrate the Gen AI tools as part of our research process. Furthermore, they have been very helpful with providing free teaching licenses and that has allowed me to teach more effectively for my qualitative courses.

MAXQDA is a leading software company. Through the three versions of the Software, Researchers can select the numerus tools adapted to their needs and methodology. Beyond that, MAXQDA has great and responsive personel, ready to help and give guidence and guideline.

The software is, in my experience, one of the best qualitative analysis tools available. I’ve tested many others, and this one truly stands out. It offers a wide range of data analysis options and an impressive suite of visualisation tools, making text analysis both engaging and insightful at every stage.

The customer service is equally excellent—very responsive and proactive, with support provided within just a few hours if needed. For those new to qualitative data analysis, MAXQDA is a fantastic starting point. They provide numerous online tutorials and host annual events, making it easy to learn and grow as you use the software.
