AVOID - Failed my hob for landlord test

Failed my hob for landlord test. I replaced the knobs as was required ( a very simple job). Refused to return to do a retest even though I was fully prepared to pay.

Told me to go through openrent even though the property was nothing to do with openrent.

Beware - Sticks unauthorised advertising stickers on your appliances which are difficult to remove and unwanted. Now have a horrible sticky mess to clean off the front of my appliance.

I would definitely NOT recommend Maxgas.

Shockingly bad customer service and…

Shockingly bad customer service and communication.

I used this company for a gas safety check and boiler inspection. I had arranged these services through OpenRent and emailed Maxgas to try and coordinate a time for the day that had been booked.

I was only contacted a week later, 15 minutes before arrival to the property. I had to ensure tenants were there. I was then sent an email about some screws which needed fitting and would be another £45 to install. When I responded to the email (15 minutes after receipt), the serviceman had already left the property. He didn't try arranging payment with the tenants at the property or to contact me otherwise.

I am now no further ahead than I was at the beginning, needing to arrange another callout for a gas safety inspection.

I would avoid using this company.

Edit: I think the response to my complaint speaks volumes. I asked to have a window to let tenants know. 15 minutes notice simply isn’t good enough. Avoid this company at all costs. They have been atrocious to deal with.

Second edit: I contacted your engineer 15 minutes after the email I received from you detailing the work that needed to be done, but he had already left the property. This is not “hanging around indefinitely”. I can receive calls. Nobody bothered. There is just no excuse.

We gave landlord 15 minutes notice of our ETA ta the property. There was a safety issue which we informed him off from the site. As he is in Canada could not call. He did not reply so we left the site. Now he complains that we did not do our job and that he spent money for nothing through open rent? Well, when you know that there is a gas check and boiler service being carried out and you know that exact time the contractor is on site you need to reply ASAP. No one will hun around indefinitely . Shockingly bad landlord for not fixing the issue and instead spending more time complaining about our response time then replying to his email. If you do not reply you do not get the works done. Avoid this landlord as he makes no sense and he knows he is wrong but has been emailing for about 40 minutes questioning the timing. It would have been to our benefit to fix the issue and charge extra.
