Hi Charles,

We've managed to locate your booking. Apologies if the treatment you received was not up to our usual standards. The therapist you saw was interviewed in person and passed her skills test with us before joining, so we can only assume she simply didn't perform to her normal standard on the day.

We've reached out directly via email as well.

Regards,
Customer Support

Unethical, and substandard conditions for therapists

The owner of ZenHut — whom I previously worked for as a therapist on his other platform, The Massage People, and left due to repeated sexual harrasment from clients and dissatisfactory conditions — hired me for business consultancy at a time when finding out, that therapists in the sector were increasingly dissatisfied and looking leave a major competitor and were looking for fair and ethical alternatives. As no therapists were available for the freshly launched ZenHut, he wanted my help coordinating migration, alongside strategic input on growth, marketing, branding and positioning.

What followed was a month of sustained input from my side: calls, messages, strategic thinking, and coordination — without any clear agreement in place, despite my clear request following our first meeting.
Despite raising this early on, compensation was repeatedly avoided. After two weeks of near-daily involvement, I mentioned that my request for clear terms and compensation has been neglected to which Dan replied there was never ever a discussion about money being involved. When I reminded him about his voice message in which he specifically asks for paid consultancy work he apologised, said he was stressed and forgetful and that his budget was tight.

While we kept a friendly tone and I understood he did not actually have the budget to pay me a fair consultancy fee, I proposed a structured, commission-based collaboration aligned with the level of involvement required. This was initially agreed, then withdrawn, while requests for further input continued. The alternative offered — one-off referral fees — was disproportionate to the level of strategic and industry specific contribution expected, and I declined and refused to give further input to support his business without a fair compensatory structure. I also did not feel comfortable recommending his platform to any therapists without certain standadrs being met, but he kept avoiding these important details.

At this point, I was met with nasty personal insults, including being called “delusional” and “malicious,” and was threatened with having private conversations shared publicly in an attempt to discredit me.

Dan eventually did disclose screenshots of our private conversations depsite the explicit lack of consent from my side, which taken out of context gave a negative impression about me in front of a group of collegues.

This experience was not just professionally disappointing — it was extractive and abusive.

After a month of involment as a consultant I was paid £200.

It’s also important context that ZenHut was positioned as a move away from the practices of The Massage People, where therapists were frequently exposed to inappropriate client behaviour that was not adequately addressed. I had hoped and was promised this would be different. In my experience, the same lack of accountability persists.

Following my sharing of our intended collaboration of the past month, collegues reached out to me who previously worked for the massage people exressing having had similar experiences: lack of accountability, unfair operations and at times derogatory language.

The past month has taken a real toll on my time, energy and wellbeing.

If you are looking for an ethical platform that genuinely values therapists, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

UPDATE

I have forwarded the voice note in which the owner offers me a paid consultancy role to the trustpilot team, which he denies was ever mentioned in his response otherwise my review would have been removed.

Hi Fruzsina,

We take all feedback seriously, however this review does not reflect a genuine customer experience of our service.

This individual has not booked or received a treatment through our platform in the context described. Instead, this relates to separate discussions following a proposed commercial arrangement, which we declined as it did not align with how we operate.

During those discussions, she indicated that she was coordinating a group of therapists seeking to move from another platform and proposed acting as an intermediary in that process, in exchange for exorbitant fees and commission. We chose not to proceed

This individual also then began demanding payment from us for "consultancy" which we had never agreed upon or even discussed. Following this, we became aware of negative commentary about our business being shared within a WhatsApp group connected to the boycott movement she was leading.

For clarity, we run a professional service with clear standards, safeguards, and a long-standing track record built over many years. Her claims are false and designed to harm our reputation unfairly. We are committed to fair, transparent working relationships with therapists and providing a high-quality experience for clients.

If anyone has questions about how our platform works, we’re always happy to address them directly
