Careful Before you Create an Account

Their sign up process is frustrating - and if you're looking to talk to someone to help get it canceled, their online form might not be the best route. I created an account and learned creating that automatically schedules the 1st box. So when I went to cancel it after seeing more about the meals, I was able to...but that doesn't mean your 1st box gets canceled.

I attempted the day I signed up and then canceled to also get the 1st box canceled - by filling out their form online.

No one responded and then I saw the charge come through. I then filled out the form again. No response. It wasn't until I got another email from Marley Spoon, saw a direct email to reach out to. I then got a reply with them stating "It is possible to cancel your first order as long as you contact us before its billing day as stated in our help center and in our terms & conditions. Simply canceling your membership will not result in the automatic cancellation of your first order."

As that was sadly not done, the order was processed and was sent out for delivery. Once an order's cut-off goes past, not even we are able to take any other actions on it."

I attempted to get it canceled before the billing date - but no one got back to me. The fact that canceling your membership doesn't cancel the 1st box is an unfortunate customer experience. Especially with them choosing not to remedy the situation.

I did not consent to a subscription

I did not consent to a subscription. I would not have bought the food because it isn't good for my diet. Now I have many meals coming that I cannot afford nor eat and it said that it wouldn't charge my card. I never received the emails they said that they sent.

When you sign up with Marley Spoon, you sign up for a subscription where you receive weekley meals. You can always cancel your subscription, but if you do this you need to take into account that if there is a delivery scheduled within 6 days of the delivery day, that that order will still be send as the production of that delivery has already started and we can´t throw away fresh ordered produce.

So sick of them sending boxes I don't…

So sick of them sending boxes I don't want. They changed my delivery date so when I went to select the recipes for the week I was "too late". Sat full of recipes with gluten, which I cannot eat. I contacted customer service to have it cancelled, which they reluctantly did, only to find out that they actually just paused my service for 4 weeks (why in gods name would I want that?!?). So I have been charged for and am going to receive box I don't want today. Not at all impressed, will never use them again.

Extremely disappointed

I don’t even know where to start. I wanted to try Markey Spoon but was quite disappointed by the recepies which were not always clear, the timing was wrong so part of it was cold once I finished the rest etc. I then thought that I had canceled but apparently I had just skip a week. When I noticed it was already too late as I was not able to cancel the order even though it had not been delivered yet. No reimbursement possible. Customer service could not help.

I am sorry to hear that we could not cancel your order anymore. 

All our orders can be adjusted or skipped up to 6 days before the delivery day. After that, we place our own orders with our suppliers and all fresh produce is purchased. At Marley Spoon we do everything to create as little food waste as possible, therefore it is no longer possible to cancel the box less than 6 days before the delivery day, otherwise we will have to throw all bought products away. Therefore we communicate by e-mail 10 days before delivery as a reminder that you still have a few days to cancel or edit your delivery. 

I hope you were still able to enjoy your box, or make friends and family happy with it.

So I contacted everyone to see if they could be of any help and nobody was able to help so now I have a box of food and I’m not shading anybody who likes this place but I think they’re a little shady. I think they kind of rope you in by making you put your information in before you look at the menu and then boom your kind of set to get a box, and you know when you try Say you do not want the delivery they say they have already prepared the box, but you can’t speak to anybody live so it’s just really confusing. Good luck to whoever else is gonna do it.

Bad service and experience

I only tried Marley Spoon for a few weeks.
However, on the third week, my delivery arrived early and was left on my doorstep in 30c heat in direct sun and I had to throw out the chicken fillet and fish when I returned from work as the smell was bad.
Vegetables were never fresh or seasonal and portion sizes were small for 2 people.
When complaining, the response was like a "shrug" .. inadequate and not really bothered.
Finally, I put my membership on hold. And when I did not receive a response to my complaints, I cancelled any further orders. However, today I was charged for a full week's package of food. I complained and was told, more or less, it was my own fault and that I would receive my order next week and that my payment would not be refunded as products for my order had been purchased --. presumably cheaply in Poland.
I am furious and have made a complaint to PayPal for an unauthorised payment.
Marley Spoon simply do not care.
I hate giving bad reviews but with the lack of service and non caring attitude, I have been left with no alternative.

Appalling customer service and delivery

Ok the recipes, the food and the app I really like and that’s why not giving this a 1 star experience. But the customer service and delivery are appalling! My first delivery got cancelled 5mins before they were supposed to arrive. I asked to cancel everything and refund my money but Stan from customer service simply ignored my request and the box showed up late in the evening the next day. We decided to give it a second try because we actually like recipes. But guess what the delivery today is expected between 22-30 and 23-30. The latest it should be with us is 22-00, 23-30 is just ridiculous! Guys I hope you sort out your delivery and customer service. Uts a shame as the product itself is very nice.

Very very disappointed with them

Very very disappointed with them! Our box this week didn’t arrive on Monday like always, they sent us an email saying that it would come on Tuesday NIGHT, which was already VERY annoying cause we didn’t go to the supermarket cause we were counting ON THEM! So on Tuesday, NO BOX! We called today to complain, and all they can do is giving us the money back! Really? Where is the service recovery!?
It’s very annoying and it seems that you don’t really care.

UPDATE: I wrote on their Instagram and they deleted it without even reply me!

a Customer out the door

I'm really disappointed with the quality of their produce. They are not the cheapest competitor on the market and their produce is pretty poor.

Their vegetables are (mostly) good and so are their additional ingredients but their meat, the main ingredient of the dish, has become very very disappointing resulting in at least one meal a week ending up in the bin. I have been a customer for just under 6 months and we have received at least 1 inedible meal each time for the past month.

I have to give such a low score because the meat is often the main ingredient in the dish, without it, you simply can not cook the dish.

I've tried it for 6 months, but unfortunately the time has come to try elsewhere.

The recipes are very varied

The recipes are very varied, interesting combinations. Tips are useful, you make dinner or lunch a bit out of the box. Fusion between Eastern and European dishes make interesting flavours. Small problems (missing ingrediënts eg.) are promptly compensated. The amount of ingrediënts are what you need on a daily basis, so for "big eaters" it can seem a bit on the small side, but your wellbeing can only benefit! No more is needed, and the meals taste lovely. I recommend heartily!

Delicious, healthy recipes!

Delicious food, original recipes, a lot of choice and a lot of vegetables. Good service too. We had a problem with meat that had gone bad before the experation date and they immediately offered a coupon worth 9 euros. The choice of which recipe is easily made, due to the tabs 'healthy', 'quick', 'vegetarian', etc. Big fan here!
