We recently purchased some exterior paint From marl coatings, We had struggled to find an exterior paint elsewhere that could be colour matched.

Thankfully the staff knew exactly what I was talking about, even when I didn’t. They were very helpful and informative and even gave guidance on use, which we were very grateful of.

Long cure time

Following lots of research and questions, in June 2025, I decided upon Marl Coatings and purchased 40l of PU350 paint and 20l of primer to cover a newly laid 5' 17mx8m concrete barn floor. They advised 12 weeks cure time but needing to use ASAP, I researched this advice and deducted that 6 weeks is usually sufficient bearing in mind the whole area is covered, dry, well vented and it was an exceptionally hot summer period. My highly experienced builder also agreed 6 weeks would (in his opinion) be enough based on his past experiences of similar products. Therefore six/seven weeks later (when the floor appeared to be completely dry and passed their recommended water retention test) I meticulously followed their detailed application guidance (other than what appeared to be an overly long curing time). Within a short period of time the floor began to flake! Marl have threatened me with legal action if my review isn't factual (I see they have said the same to others) so, POSITIVES: good detailed pre-sales advice, good price, quick delivery. NEGATIVES, very long cure time (my fault I didn't wait and according to them subsequently encountered the problems). I was advised to sand the whole lot off and start again! RECOMMENDATION: If you have a newly laid based and don't want to wait over three months to use it, I would suggest that you purchase from one of their many competitors with shorter curing times.

In the event of legal action: I would like to make it clear that I DID NOT wait the advised 12 weeks and it is possible that if I had the primer/paint could have adhered perfectly, however, I believe my reasoning/risk was justifiable and have therefore written this review to help others with "fresh" bases who cannot wait 12 weeks for it to cure to make an informed decision.

I recently bought some driveway paint from Marl Coatings but I didn't read the name of the product properly. I complained about the paint and put a bad review on here today. Having realised it was my fault for ordering the wrong paint I apologise to Marl Coat for my mistake and wrongly accusing them. They rightly threatened me with legal action. It isn't easy for me to admit I was wrong and they were right. But I have done it now. They didn't tell me to remove the review but I thought it was only right in the circumstances. I have bought paint from them for 2 years and I will use them again but next time I'll make sure of what I am ordering.

block paving sealer

Selling block paving sealer on Ebay and Amazon read the reviews before buying as description deceptive as it doesn't look remotely wet, 5 days later still not set the sand, response is its not suppose to look wet even though its called wet look.

Reply from Marl Coatings Limited

product tried and tested, over 20,000 litres sold on a monthly basis not gloss as expected but as advertised wetlook, for gloss finish as you may of been looking to attain this would be a epoxy clear coat, thousands of happy customers.

images provided are clear what side has been coated/cured and what has not, we would never say "is its not suppose to look wet" because it is manufactured for that and it a very clear wetlook.

With regards to setting sand this may help but it is by no means a jointing compound again i think more research was needed in the product you where really needed as the realistic performance of a wetlook block pave seal is only to coat the block.

thanks for the custom

Used PU150 before realising they have a higher resin based product pu350. The after sales team acted promptly and exchanged the product. Be aware that on fresh concrete it is essential that the surface is porous for the product to absorb and cure. I did not know this. An etch to get desired porosity may be needed. Be warned!

Took the company (Marl) at its Web Site word and used their Grey heavy duty garage floor paint.
Even after careful even meticulous floor preparation and ideal weather (the July hot spots) the first coat (of a planed three coats) is still NOT DRY after three days. Areas that have dried are not hard.
So ... now I cannot use my garage or access the family freezer or my tools!!
I'm stuck until it dries....anybody got a magic wand!!

Used Marl polyurethane floor paint from…

Used Marl polyurethane floor paint from 2 different batches 2 years apart. Drying problems both times.
Painted indoor factory floor 2 weeks ago. Significant areas still not dry even though ventilated and temperature kept at 20 degrees.
It seems the problem is lack of driers in the paint.
OUR SOLUTION.
Mix cobalt driers in high concentration with some paint out of the tin and paint over the wet areas. Use a scrubbing brush to work the drier saturated paint into the wet paint on the floor. If you don't ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed then the drier saturated paint will just form a skin and the paint will scuff off.
These treated areas will then dry overnight and cure as normal. A second coat (with driers) can then be applied.

Knowing what I know now I would never use Marl polyurethane floor paint without adding driers. Seems to work fine and cure hard if you do, but if you don't you'll wish you'd bought a different brand.

Only gave two stars because this problem could have been easily avoided if Marl had just added "Test and add driers as needed, especially in cold weather" to their instructions. Otherwise very good paint.

Looked good when finished but needs…

Looked good when finished but needs longer to dry than stated. My advice is not to suddenly brake when you drive on to the driveway as it will take the paint off.
I have a few patches to paint over where this has happened so now l just roll onto my driveway and brake slowly rather than a sudden stop and it seems to be ok.Will have to see how it stands up to winter weather but lm sure will be ok.When you consider the cost of other alternatives such as block paving then this method is a bargain and pleasing to the eye
This is now October and an update.Had a lot of rain and the paint is beginning to wash off.By next spring it will need another coat.Several of my neighbours who have used this paint are having the same problem.
