Polls in broken English
I recently got a call from the Marist Poll. The woman who called asked me if I wanted to participate, and I said "yes." But I never would've done so if I'd known how bad the experience would be.
Basically, the woman who called could barely speak English. 🤡 I had to ask her again and again, "Could you please repeat that question?" Here's an example: She asked me a question about voter fraud, and she pronounced the word "fraud" so that it rhymed with "cloud." It sounded like she was from the Caribbean or something. Anyway, while she was nice, her English was terrible. 🤢
They had a toll-free number that you could call afterward in case you wanted to leave feedback, and I did. But no one ever returned my call, so I guess they couldn't care less if their callers actually know how to speak English! Apparently it costs too much money to hire native speakers. 🤑
So, any time you hear the results of a Marist poll, it's best to take them with a grain of salt, because you never know if those being polled even understood the questions! 🤪
