Pretty awful experience all around.

Pretty awful experience all around.
I'm currently between employment so eligible for legal aid.
I found out that I was ineligible for LA about six weeks before my trial because the solicitors ASSUMED I had a current income. I explained I did not and they assured me they'd get it sorted.
My solicitor was busy during my initial pre-hearing, so sent a solicitor from a different company in his stead who didn't know my situation at all.
I didn't find out that there was no legal aid in place until the day of my trial, even after several emails and phone calls to ensure it was done before and being constantly told it would get sorted.
They told me they needed proof of unemployment to apply for LA, but told me this DAYS before the trial.
Emails unanswered.
Zero communication regarding the trial or the LA issues.
Crucial evidence that wasn't submitted.
Honestly, I feel really let down by the system and Mander Cruickshanks in particular.
There'll be a complaint made to the legal ombudsman for sure, because the service was a complete shambles.

I have used Mander Cruickshank for the…

I have used Mander Cruickshank for the past 25 years and have always sang their praises, until now. As a Landlord I have probably used their services more than than most. Since COVID they have declined massively. My mother passed away 2 years ago which meant I had to sell the house and to implement the Will. Over the 2 year period I was made to feel like I was an inconvience to the people concerned. Not replying to emails, not consulting me on decisions made, not updating me and random people contacting me. My advice would be steer clear unless you love stress!

Professional and supportive service

We had a great service to help with the conveyancing of our house. Bethany was a fantastic support throughout the whole process. She explained the things I didn't understand and sped the process along as quickly as she could.
The whole team were friendly and polite to us whenever we needed them.
They certainly made the purchasing of a property seem very stress free from the soliciting perspective.
Great service!!

Avoid like the plague..

I am coming from the point of view as not being a client of Mander Cruickshank Solicitors but one having to deal with from the other side in buying a property from there client.

Started off after having an offer accepted on the property our solicitors had all checks completed in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks we began chasing the solicitors to see how they were going with their checks. We had no reply. It was a further 2 weeks before we got a reply to our solicitors. That was after constant calls to the agents selling the property to get onto the vender to chase them up.

We finally got a reply after our solicitor sent the agents a copy of the weeks of emails chasing them up with no correspondents from themselves.

When the paperwork finally turned up it was half completed. Forms not filled in correctly and half the information missing. This lead enquires to be sent from my solicitors and then a further 2 weeks of no communication. Then eventually a lie where they informed the agents that information had been sent to my solicitors. Our solicitors did a full check of their emails to see nothing had arrived from Mander Cruickshank Solicitors and then Mander Cruickshank Solicitors confessing they did not have the paperwork and were still conducting checks.

After discussion with the agents and the vender. The vender eventually went out and found the paperwork himself and sent the his solicitors.

Once it came time to settle on the property and exchange paperwork there were constant delays still chasing paperwork for the completion of the sale. And when it came day of the exchange they delayed once again with the excuse they wanted to go over the paperwork once again.

This just shows that they were not ready and it is more of a circus than a law firm.

Any advice I could tell from anyone wanting to use them would be to avoid like the plague. Or if you come up having to work with them from the other side like myself. Be aware that you will have to chase everything for them and be constantly having to work just to get an answer.

Beyond shocking and incompetent

After the paralegal incorrectly took down our address (of course, compromising GDPR), we waited over a week before she realised this was why we had not received our documents. We were again promised they would be sent out. Finally, another week later, we received the documents. We booked an appointment to meet them in person. The paralegal emailed what we expected would be a confirmation of our appointment, however what she had emailed us was a TEMPLATE of the document she should have updated with the details of our appointment. Needless to say we were not filled with the greatest of confidence.

So, as I said, we arranged an appointment to meet with our solicitor. We did not get to meet with her, as we dealt with the paralegal whose lack of competence is beyond me. We went into the office, and she sat down and looked at us, expectantly. Having not done this before, we were waiting for her to begin the meeting with what was required from us. We looked at each other, and asked her why we were there. She kept nipping out to ask our solicitor questions. I am unsure as to why we were unable to meet her directly.

They could not cope with a simple name change and my passport being in my previous name, despite my bank account being in my current name, and a very recent DBS check (which had my previous and new name on it) and therefore rejected my photo ID. I was told I would have to renew my passport with updated details. Take into consideration that our mortgage advisor accepted these documents. My bank and the DBS also accepted these documents. I rang numerous solicitors who also said it would not be a problem, and that there were no issues with these documents. The GDPR-breaking paralegal was reluctant to even approach our invisible solicitor with additional documents I felt would contribute to their acceptance of my photo ID. Needless to say, we walked out and transferred solicitors, who, last minute on a Friday, EMAILED the required documents over and took on our case, despite an upcoming bank holiday weekend. We were told we didn't have to meet them in person, and that everything could be done online. We were sent guidelines of exactly what we would need to do, and assured that everything was in hand. We got further with them on a Friday afternoon than with Mander Cruickshank in almost three weeks.

All in all, we are about three weeks delayed with our conveyancing. We wasted time, fuel and precious printer ink, on something that has been confirmed by numerous other solicitors is NOT an issue. Should your case not be straight forward and plain sailing, I would advise you to avoid at all costs. I'm glad I did not pay their fee in advance, particularly as that is all they were seemingly bothered about, despite them saying they could not do anything until I updated my passport.

Wayne hardy was representing my friend who was in remand for gbh.while representing him he had not returned phone calls. Said he would visit him in prision but did not and just wanted the legal aid money.
A atrocious lawyer who made my friends life hell by not doing the job he was hired for.
Do not hire him.

PAUL TUBB A PARTNER AND WAYNE HARDY…

TOTTALY UNPROFESSIONAL PAUL TUBB A PARTNER AND WAYNE HARDY WERE BOTH DIABOLICAL WHEN THEY WERE MY LEGAL AID SOLICITORS WHEN I WAS ARRESTRD TWICE ON SUSPICION OF STALKING AND EACH TIME IT WAS UNLAWFUL ARREST AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE AT ALL. WAYNE HARDY IN PARTICULAR LET ME DOWN BIG TIME IN MY HOUR OF NEED IN COURT AND IGNORED RELENTLESSLY ALL OF MY EMAILS PRORESTINHG MY INNOCENCE WHICH I WAS 100 % EACH TIME.
PAUL TUBB WAS EQUALLY AS USELESS IN MY HOUR OF NEED AND I WILL NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. I COMPLAINED IN THE RIGHT MANNER AS PER THE SRA GUIDELINES BUT THE OTHER PARTNER REJECTED MY COMPLAINT SO I MADE A VERY SERIOUS COMPLAINT TO THE SRA ABOUT THEM AND TOLD LEICESTERSHIRE POLICE TO NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. DIABOLICAL, USELESS, THOUGHT TOTALLY I WAS GUILTY AND THEN HAD TO GET VERY ANGRY WITH HARDY TO GET COPIES PF MY WITNESS STATEMENTS AND THEY WERE ALL LIES BY MY ACCUSERS.
ALL THEY WANT IS THEIR LEGAL AID FEE AND THEY HAD NO INTEREST IN SUPPORTING ME OR DEFENDING ME AS THEY SHOULD HAVE.
A COMPLETE BUNCH OF USELESS SHYSTERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BECAUSE OF WAYNE HARDYS INCOMPETENCE ON THE DAY OF THE RESTRAINING OREDER WHEN I MET HIM PRIVATELY AND ASKED HIM TO PUT UP A ROBUST DEFENCE HE INSISTED THAT I GO WITH WHAT HE SAID WAS RIGHT. AFTER I HAVE SPOKEN AT LENGTH TO DEBBIE MNARTIN FROM BLACK AND CO SOLICITORS AND SHE TOLD ME TO IMMEDIATELLY COMPLAIN TO THE SRA WHICH I DID. AS A TOTALLY INNOCENT MAN AT THE END OF NOVEMBER I WAS ARRESTED FOR A 3RD TIME FOR THE SAME OFFENCE AND DEBBIE WAS MY LEGAL SOLICITOR AND IN FRONT OF ME PRIOR TO MY INTERVIEW SHE VERY JOVIALLY AND LAUGHING VERY LOUDLY BECAUSE SHE SAID MY ARREST WAS UNBELIEVABLE AND THAT WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT SAID THERE WOULD BE DEFINETLY N F A AND BECAUSE SHE KNOWS ALL ABOUT THE CASE SHE SAID THOSE FOOLS AT MANDER AND CRUICKSHANK AND I TOTALLY AGRRE WITH HER BECAUSE THE WHOLE TOTALLY UNSVOURY INCIDENT IS A PACK OF LIES.

Our house sale took 11 months

Our house sale took 11 months , we had 4 buyers back out , 2 pretty much on the last day. Our feelings during that time was that nobody was chasing on our behalf / confirming details on a regular basis , and as such this review would have been a 2 star. However our final attempt at selling was managed by Yasmeen and she was amazing , she chased things , she seemed organised, she gave updates when ever something happened , or when I just needed reassurance that I had not been forgotten ! It seemed to me that during our time they we short staffed or maybe just turning over staff , but if they can keep people of the quality of Yasmeen , and maybe update their communications systems so that there is an online portal so you can see progress without having to bother the staff , then I think things would be better for anybody using their service in the future.
