There system is Rubbish, they sent us a bill for overpayment of well over £2000, we questioned it and it was sent to someone higher and reduced to £200, we paid it, then another came for £193 which we paid, they DO NOT apologise for trying to take FALSE money from you, Elderly people might have paid the high amount.

We DO NOT TRUST THEM.

My experience with Malvern Hills District Council has been nothing short of appalling. The way this council handles complaints, especially those involving vulnerable residents, is deeply concerning. Despite multiple attempts to get a clear response regarding serious procedural errors, I have been ignored.

One of the most alarming issues is the council’s blatant disregard for the rules surrounding disability benefits. UK law is crystal clear: disability-related benefits should not be counted as income for Council Tax Support (CTS) assessments. Yet, this council continues to reference them, either through ignorance or deliberate misapplication of the rules. This is not just a simple mistake—it is a breach of statutory guidelines and a clear case of maladministration.

Beyond this, there have been clear data protection breaches, factual inaccuracies, and a complete lack of transparency in decision-making. Declaring a complaint “resolved” without addressing the actual issues raised is nothing more than an attempt to silence valid concerns.

This level of incompetence is unacceptable. If the council refuses to acknowledge its failures and take corrective action, I will escalate this to the Local Government Ombudsman and explore legal avenues to challenge their conduct. Public bodies are supposed to act fairly and lawfully—something Malvern Hills District Council seems to have forgotten.

I strongly advise anyone dealing with this council to document everything and be prepared for resistance, delays, and outright disregard for the rules.

Went to MHDC office in Avenue Road, Malvern for assistance. The receptionist I spoke to was belligerent and confrontational even before I had asked her a question. She would not listen to my factual statements and made up her mind on her imagination of the situation. I came away upset by her attitude and still not knowing the answer to my question.
