Daily Mail Travel Deal - Never Again
Daily Mail Travel Deal – NEVER AGAIN
My wife and I were tempted recently by a twin city adventure to Krakow/Warsaw, as advertised by the Daily Mail – 7 days from £359/person
We had a spare week up our sleeves, and the website showed availability departing from 8th Oct.
After a lengthy phone call to the booking number advertised, during which time we were advised to switch to the 9th, since the route on the 8th involved a 6 hour layover, and an adjustment to the price (now £499) we were locked in for a trip just under a week away. We were told the documents would arrive in a few days.
After 3 days, with no documents in sight, and the weekend looming, another phone call was made where I was assured they would arrive on Saturday and to keep an eye on my email (and junk mail).
When nothing arrived, my wife and I became increasingly nervous. I tried repeated calls but nothing would connect. Between Sat afternoon and Mon afternoon I made 37 attempts from my side (Bearing in mind we were due to travel early on Wed morning).
Finally, I made contact and apparently they had a system malfunction, and I was informed that the documents had in fact been emailed on the Saturday. After further investigation, they had the email address incorrect. Recommendation: Mitigate this risk by ensuring emails are received. Fortunately I was able to get the email address of Shalini, the most helpful of all of the consultants, which was a useful email contact to have later on.
Because of the very late confirmation, our friend who usually drops us off at the airport was no longer available, so we then had to take steps to book a car park, adding an unexpected/unnecessary £118 to the trip.
Once the documents arrived they included instructions on ‘how to check-in’ on Ryan Air. Since the booking was made by a 3rd party, we were required to do a special verification process – a technology challenging activity, and a charge of 59pence (twice) for the easiest option. Then, although we booked a fully paid holiday for two – it seems that of you want to sit together you need to pay more, The final insult and which took us by surprise was that Zero baggage allowance had been provided for.
The documents included a voucher for the Auschwitz tour – with instructions on who to contact (email or phone) in Krakow to arrange to the pick-up time from the hotel. I chose to email them in advance.
Having finally sucked all this up and made our way to Krakow (no transfer provided) we settled down to a lunch on the central square where I made the fatal mistake of checking my email. To our horror – the excursion company had replied saying that the agency (Jetline) had cancelled the booking.
With a supposed leisurely lunch now well interrupted, I then emailed the sales agent (Shalini) and to her credit received a response saying that she had spoken to customer service and that I needed to pay for the trip, send them the receipt, and that I would be reimbursed.
I was not accepting of this – I had already paid for the trip, and it was not me who had cancelled the excursion. In my view it was up to Jetline to fix the issue. I rang Jetline, and another sales person said he could not help as it was a Customer Care matter and he would put me through. I was met by a customer care voice mail box, which ultimately said it was full, then got cut off.
In desperation then tried calling the local tour excursion office to enquire about trying to book an excursion, and they told me that they were fully booked for the next two days. Given that we were only on Krakow for 48 hours I was furious.
Another email, copying in Jetline and the excursion company was fired off. All during ‘lunch’.
Most fortunately, a senior person at the excursion company read the mail, took the time to call me, and promised to see what she could do.
This was all during our supposed pleasant lunch experience.
Finally, the local company called to say they could fit us on the trip in the morning, but I had to pay PLN 598 within two hours to secure the spot. Of course pick-up from the hotel as advertised was not possible – our hotel was sited well away from the normal central area, so in the morning we had to find our way to a more acceptable spot – all at our expense of course.
I sent all receipts etc to the customer services and received the “Thank you for your email, we aim to reply within 72 hours. If your enquiry is urgent please call 0203 617 5815.“ It is not actually possible to reach that number from a mobile in Poland.
It is now the 4th November and, despite multiple emails form me, we have only received automated respnses and no refund from Jetline, so still remain out of pocket.
Never again will we travel using Jetline/Daily Mail.
Sincerely
Daniel and Susan Harrison
Very disappointed travellers.
Mail Travel trusted agent let us down in Porto
Actually Mail Travel name was used in an advert by JETLINE .We booked 6 nights 3 in Lisbon 3 in Porto.
Both booked in 4/5 star hotels.Ist 3 nights in Lisbon went well .
Next we arrived in Porto after 3 hr train ride .Wevarrived late afternoon at The Musica hotel in Porto on showing our Hotel Voucher were told someone had called the previous day and cancelled our booking. The hotel was full and as there were events happening in Porto so too were all hotels in Porto. The desk at Musica tried to get us in a hotel and eventually ended up paying top whack for a 2 Star IBIS in Porto . Still JetLine have no answer to why this happened and even the receipts sent for the additional cost of the hotel and transfer to airport has not been paid. They claim Tech issues on the day and consistenlty delay any payment. The reason we felt we had booked a secure holiday was the association claimed with Mail Travel - A trusted agent they claimed.
Disappointing hotel and cheapest train tickets available
We have just returned from 2 centre Valencia and Seville. The holiday details said both had 4 star hotels but like others we got palmed off with a 3 star but no refund.Hotels were a good distance from the centre. We also were given tickets for a 12 hour train journey between the two resorts when we could have been given a 4 hour train journey - but that would have taken more of their profit - we complain but had to pay the 70 euro extra. Beware they do not give you all the details on the holiday add. Would not use again.
Have just returned from the Portugal…Lisbon & Porto 2 centre trip
Have just returned from the Portugal trip of 2 centres Lisbon and Porto. Whilst the hotels were adequate they were nowhere near the centre of the city, so bus and taxi costs added to what turned out to be a very expensive holiday all round. As mentioned by other reviewers Jetline are totally useless. No returned calls, so proper discussion on flight availability, etc. When I first spoke to them last November they offered m a flight from Manchester to Lisbon with a 7 hour lay over in Madrid! And 5 hours on the return journey. I had to chase and chase for the details of the river trip included in the holiday price, this eventually arrived 2 days before the trip, but was not valid on presentation at the booking office for the boat and we had to pay again. I also complained before the trip to Daily Mail Travel and have not had the courtesy of a reply. Jetline also tried to charge £89 per person (3 people travelled) for transfers from Airport to hotel. A local service charged us £21 in total. I will never travel with Daily Mail Travel again and would certainly never recommend them to anyone.
Very Misleading Headline Offers
We were hooked by the headline price of a 2 centre holiday in Portugal in June. We contacted the Mail offers number which linked us to the company Jetline who were handling the offer, advertised in Mail Travel offers.
We tried to set up the holiday with 5 star hotels, gave credit card details and left it with them, happy our holiday was secured. An hour or so later the call centre rang back and said the 5 star hotels were not available but we could have 4 star for same price. As these hotels did not have pools we declined and cancelled the booking. We mulled it over and decided to give another offer a go with Mail travel. Surprise, surprise! Exactly the same thing happened. A call back and a downgrade. Of course we cancelled all our plans. Shame on the Mail for continuing to support these deals which are obviously not genuine offers.
They have headline travel prices to…
They have headline travel prices to hook you in online and when you make an enquiry it bears no resemblance to the real price. Utter nonsense.
Package trip to Italy
I have read a lot of negative reviews about mail travel and jetline holidays. However from mine and my partners experience we had a fantastic 6 nights package trip to Italy visiting Rome, Florence and Venice.
On booking the holiday I was informed that all documents would be emailed to me and they were the next day. This included all information on flights and hotels. I was informed that we would get details of train journeys closer to the holiday date and we did do.
Everything went like clock work, the hotels were very clean. The hotel in Rome The Artis hotel was out of the centre however the train station was literally 10 min walk from the hotel.
Hotel in Florence was well situated and less than 5 min from train station and the plaza hotel in Venice was in Venice mestra right opposite train station. Venus literally 10 min bus ride. The staff in the hotels we found were very pleasant, yes hotels were advertised as 4 stars however they were more like 3 however as I said they were clean and well situated and we were out early in morning until late. we paid £1002 (£501 per person) in January for our holiday in September-for hotels, flights and train tickets for an excellent experience and great value in our opinion
Avoid using Mail Travel/Jetline Holidays
We had trouble from the very start when booking a twin Centre holiday to Krakow and Warsaw. I thought I was booking through Mail Travel. Mail Travel have been advertising for years and their caption stated they are a reliable and reputable company! The first I knew we were booked with Jetline Holidays was when I received the confirmation email after booking the holiday. Two weeks later the flight Jetline booked for us with Easy Jet it was cancelled. Jetline offered an alternative flight to Krakow via Paris. We were to arrive at midnight! I refused this alternative and we lost a day of the holiday as the only other flight was the next morning with Ryanair. We had to chase Jetline for vouchers included for train journey and tour, days before we left. When we arrived in Krakow we discovered the hotel booked was 12 km out of the city. Jetline changed the hotel in Krakow and I had been assured that the hotel was the same standard and central.
The hotel in Warsaw was further out. It was 15 km out of town. Ten minutes from the Chopin airport. Unfortunately we were booked on a flight home from the other airport over an hour away from The Warsaw Plaza. There is absolutely nothing near the hotel. it is an industrial area with no shops or restaurants within walking distance.
During the holiday I received an email from Ryanair warning me re the booking of my flight. They were apologising to me for requesting to validate the booking. They sent a link to me to check the cost of my flight as I was booked as a third party.
I thought I’d booked a package holiday through Mail Travel but it seems Jetline booked flights and hotels separately? It was very confusing. I never received an itemised cost of the hotel and flights. This holiday was not cheap. It is advertised at a reasonable cost but by the time Jetline add on extras it becomes more expensive.
It was my first time in Poland and I can only say Jetline Holiday spoiled the experience.
I need to take the blame for putting trust in what I thought was a reliable travel firm. I should have checked out more re hotels and distance etc but once booking was made it was too late. They refused to refund deposit. I had never heard of Jetline Holidays and certainly would not have used them. On checking reviews I believe no one would use them. PLEASE BE AWARE OF JETLINE HOlIDAYS.
One star review is too much.
One star review is too much.
Spent nearly 2 hours on the phone booking an Egypt Cruise and Stay holiday.
To start with everything about booking was good apart they wouldn’t give us an ABTA number.
Anyway booked for 4 of us to go on holiday in November.
He even offered us a better date for same price.
Gave him my card details and paid deposit or so I thought.
He said he’d sent a test email to check that all paperwork would go to correct email.
It did and he then phoned me back and said only cabin left was next to the boiler.
As I’ve been on this holiday before I understand the boats room structure.
He kept saying I can get you on a different boat as I could have a better cabin.
Ok same price.
Then hotel was changed but better rooms.
Then it started.
This change which was not what I wanted was now going to cost an extra £199 each.
Kept saying no as happy with first booking.
You get allocated your cabins as you board boats not before.
Then it was going to be )149 each then £129.
Still not happy so told him to cancel booking and refund money already paid.
He then told me he hadn’t taken payment.
In other words a Scam.
There were no holiday the prices specified.
If I wanted to pay more I could GeV gone in September.
Was so annoyed and angry at this way of selling as we’re my friends.
He obviously knew from the start he wasn’t going to sell us the holiday at the price we asked for.
If he’d just said I’m sorry all at that price have gone we would have changed dates and paid more.
Feel like this team are a scam from start to finish.
Previously I have used Mail Travel and no problems at all and had a wonderful time.
Would love to hear back from Whoever runs it now to explain this hard sell.

We purchased a hotel stay voucher which expires on 5th august 2023 and tried to book today only to be told there is no availability until 4 days after the voucher expires! We have checked on the hotel website and there is plenty of availability even on the actual date we wanted .W are 5 months away from August so this must be fraud.Mail state they are ABTA bonded but when I spoke with ABTA today they said not.Avoid at all costs
PROMISES AND LIES
Booked holiday for travel on 14 September 2020 and holiday was cancelled by the holiday company Jetline Holidays. I am still fighting for the cost of the holiday, which I paid in full, to be refunded. I have phoned and received nothing but promises and lies. I have written but no replies.I would strongly advise everyone to avoid both these companies at all cost.
We booked a holiday to Egypt for June…
We booked a holiday to Egypt for June through Mail travel and the flight was cancelled the evening before travel. Despite us finding an alternative which would have got us to the destination a few hours after the original time, the whole holiday was cancelled. The alternatives we were offered was postponing the holiday until September or different hotel and cruise. We had originally paid extra to go all inclusive on the cruise, but the new package didn't include that either . Almost 4 weeks later we are still awaiting a refund.
Voucher no longer valid
I bought a voucher that was promoted on my Mail online after entering numbers for points, for an afternoon tea and river cruise in York at the end of March. It was valid for a year and we were planning to visit York sometime during the summertime. We booked our trip for the end of July and so I went to the Mail Travel site to make the booking only to find, just three months on, that the boat is no longer running. I was offered the opportunity to exchange the voucher but there is nothing similar available. I have asked for a refund but after two days I have still not had a reply. I will be wary about spending nearly £50 on a voucher on this site again.
Jetline- Joke
Booked a two centre, Rome and Venice Holiday with Mail Travel which was through Jetline Holidays . Just got back enjoyed the holiday, but fraught with issues all around Jetline.
Misinformation, errors and no communication despite constant chasing.
Summed up by a transfer from our hotel to the airport on Sunday.”Your driver will collect you from your hotel and take you to the airport”
On Saturday the driver messaged to say can you make your own way to this plazza on the mainland at your expense which was half an hour in the wrong direction.
Never ever use Jetline Travel again!
As for Mail Travel- waste of space!
Booked 5 day break tp Poland through…
Booked 5 day break tp Poland through Mail Travel it was actually with Jetline Travel. It was for July 2020. Flights were cancelled so unable to get there. They have since given us 5 dates for refund back to our bank.Do not use Mail Travel.
Be aware when using Mail Travel
Booked a package holiday which included an Alaska cruise through what I thought was a travel company. Except Mail Travel doesn’t really exist, they just endorse other companies holidays. Although their glossy advert supplements and “book with confidence” leads you to think otherwise. My holiday was actually with Jetline Cruise, who are the worst travel agents you could imagine. In fact The Mail on Sunday actually investigated Jetline through their consumer expert who reported not to trust them! Mail travel obviously doesn’t even check out who it’s partnered with! Thankfully only lost my deposit but Mail Travel really needs to take a look at it’s self.

Will never trust another holiday via Mail Travel after awful experience with Jetline Cruise, who were endorsed by Mail Travel. Still waiting for the balance of our refund after 10 months patiently waiting. Even ABTA wants no more to do with Jetline- be very careful who you trust your money to in the future!
