Health & Safety risk - avoid this hotel
This hotel is a definite health and safety accident waiting to happen. We were walking the WHW and this seemed a good value hotel to book - how wrong we were! Whilst we were willing to overlook the ceiling fan in our en-suite constantly dripping water onto the floor, the ceiling electric switch for the fan having the wires hanging out next to the dripping water, the bath panel disintegrating with mould and damp, various patches of mould, a dripping bath tap, etc, for one night, we were horrified to be woken at 2am by a fire alarm going off. We shot downstairs from our attic room and out into the pouring, freezing rain, to find out there were no staff members on site and, worse, when someone tried phoning the emergency number on the office door we could hear the phone ringing in the locked office. It took the fire brigade 50 mins to drive from Fort William, by which time we had all deduced it was probably not a fire (thank goodness) and on looking for how to switch off the alarm we all found evidence of huge health and safety breaches such as sockets hanging off walls, etc. The fire brigade eventually arrived and turned off the alarm, by which time we were too stressed, cold and wet to sleep. We received no apology for what had happened despite sending several emails - the only reply was in October telling us the Manager was off sick! Avoid this hotel at all costs!!!
