Misrepresentation and consumer law breaches (Lyte Ladders and Towers Ltd)

One star – misrepresentation and consumer law breaches (Lyte Ladders and Towers Ltd)

Lyte Ladders and Towers Limited misrepresented delivery status and failed to fulfil a consumer contract.

A “new” ladder (£99.30) was marked as shipped and later claimed to have been “refused”, despite no courier attending my address and no refusal by me. The seller then asked whether I wanted a credit, while no goods had been delivered and no refund had been processed.

This conduct breaches the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (failure to deliver goods as contracted) and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (misleading actions and false delivery claims). Delivery records were contradictory and no proof of attendance or delivery was provided.

Funds were retained while responsibility was repeatedly shifted to the customer. This is not a simple courier delay but systemic misreporting of order status. Customers should proceed with caution and keep full records.
Additional context:
Before this B&Q Marketplace order, a delivery connected to same seller network and courier) arrived with the wrong ladder, which was clearly used and damaged despite being sold as new. I lawfully refused that delivery. The refund was delayed and only resolved after escalation. This earlier failure appears to be directly linked to the later confusion, with refusals and delivery statuses being wrongly attributed instead of properly correcting stock and fulfilment.

Ordered step ladder through Screwfix

Ordered step ladder through Screwfix, ladders turned up damaged. Organised replacement with company was told that new set would arrive and damaged would be collected. Waited in all morning for someone to turn up they arrived with no replacement and wanted to take damaged set with no paperwork or proof of collection no new set of ladders
Customer services very rude and basically calling us liars now got to have another day off to take delivery

Ladder delivered in bad condition

I bought a Lyte Ladders double extension ladder via Ladders Direct UK. My ladder was dispatched to me directly by Lyte Ladders, without any packaging, using DX. Despite the immaculate condition of the ladders shown on Ladders Direct's website, the ladder delivered was in bad condition. It had numerous scratches and abrasions, and a dented rung for good luck - all too much to be caused by DX. After contacting Ladders Direct (with photos) I received a replacement without fuss (the first ladder being collected at the same time). The second ladder was a little better than the first, but nothing like the ladders shown on the website. I decided to accept that ladder. It seems to be sturdy and feels secure when in use.
