Caught by cowboy roofers

Some charming Irish guys in a white van with Irish plates knocked on the door to tell me my ridge tiles were coming off because the underlying wood was rotten. In as far as it goes, that was true.
However they charged me three times (at least) what checkatrade recommends for the job. They didn't tell me about the VAT until after I'd paid the first amount.
The firm is LW Roofing and Guttering Ltd, Birmingham.
None of the phone numbers on their receipt work.
There is no VAT number on their "receipt".
Guess what their 10 year guarantee is worth? 🙂
They promised to take their rubbish away and guess what?
