From day 1 of speaking to lowdens (initially Bill) we always felt confident that they would secure us a mortgage, you can just sense their experience and knowledge instantly from how calm they are no matter the credit history.

After the initial chats with bill, we was assigned Aaron Flat as our broker, Aaron was friendly and understanding of our situation, we had only had our business up and running for 2 years so was considered a bit of a risk, along with a bit of bad credit from 3 years previous.

Taking all of that into consideration, Within a couple of days Aaron had 3 mortgage in principles for us, 1 at a very competitive rate and 2 at a higher rate (the 2 at the higher rate was our bankers due to the the credit history).

Aaron was very confident he was secure the mortgage with the lower rate, but after weeks and weeks of the lender asking ridiculous questions (we thought they was trying to find a way out of offering us the mortage) we actually gave up hope of the lower rate and told Aaron not to waste his time with them.

So we got our mortgage in place with a different lender to exchange contracts, however whilst all of this was happening, Aaron had stayed in contact with the initial lower rate lender and secured us this mortgage 5 days before move in date.

Aaron was calm, persistent and very understanding of our situation which is why he kept on trying for us.

We cannot thank Aaron and the Lowdens team enough and would never look anywhere else for future mortgages.

We were signposted to Lowdens under a new build company - Redrow, we originally had Laura taking care of our case and she was EXCEPTIONAL! However after a few days she left and we had our case transferred to Aaron who unfortunately was unable to continue with the 5* service we originally had. I had to call back 4 times in one day, no regular communication, maybe an odd email here and there, to then be told he has a high case load and he is extremely overwhelmed? Very fast we lost trust in Lowdens with figures for our deposit being used as an “assumption”. Prior to this we had communications in February and he was meant to call us back Monday from the previous Friday and we did not hear anything until we reached out weeks later.

From someone who already has a mortgage - communication is a non negotiable for this process to be smooth, fast and efficient and in this instance we lost this after our case was transferred. We have since gone elsewhere and after two days we have a decision in principle accepted with unremarkable communication and updates from an independent broker, yet we were told it would take up to 6 weeks with underwriting according to Aaron and I believe that was down to the poor documentation taking/communication in order to aid the acceptance.

I hope this helps Lowdens provide the necessary support to its staff but also its customers going forward and it’s a shame this turned out the way it did from a positive start from the beginining, however I would not want someone else to experience what we had as we ended up losing a week with our sale due to this.

I had an awful experience with another company , and was told Lowden would be intouch to try them out . I must say I was stressed by the previous and almost gave up on buying a house . My first conversation with Colm was soothing and reassuring, he is exceptional at what he does . He spoke to my partner and I , knowing the issue was my partner having a year self employed to show lender , he tailored our circumstance to the right lender , applied only when he was sure we stood a chance , Colm got us an offer within 72hrs of applying, we were constantly updated, he was always accessible and ready to answer any questions no matter how silly it was . He went above and beyond for us , and made our dream come through . We have moved into our home now , and can’t thank Colm enough . He explained everything to the last detail , and made sure we were happy to proceed , exceptional human Colm.
