Awful - avoid!
Ordered book and online screening through Fane.
Book didn't arrive so emailed. Fobbed off each time. Asked for a refund so I could get book elsewhere. Still nothing. Weeks of chasing and being told different info each time.
Book only just arrived - too late for the gift it was supposed to be.
Won't use Fane or Lovemyread again.
Failure to Receive Ordered Book and No Help/Customer Service
I ordered the book and Livestream a month ago. I had a terrible time logging into the live stream and was late. I have yet to receive the Clanlands New Zealand signed book. My first email took 2+ weeks for a response which said it was an automated reply and to email again. I think I have been had. There is no phone number that I have found for this company. It's so late now, I'll never find a signed book. Screwed over. Don't do business with this company!
Money taken- no book received- no response to emails!
Ordered and paid for a single book. Got order confirmation but no shipping confirmation and no response to emails or Facebook comments other than a generic automated response. The “Contact Us” link on their page does not work.
I have now emailed them to give notice that if I don’t receive a full refund (including shipping costs) or confirmation that the book has been sent via a tracked delivery service by 27/11/23 that I will be seeking legal advice and looking at small claims. At this point, if necessary, I don’t care if it costs more to file the claim than the book cost- it’s the principle and maybe it will stop them ripping anyone else off!
No show book % response
Ordered book. Asked for delivery update. Zero communication. Annoyed with myself that I didn’t check Trust Pilot first. How can these companies legitimately operate when they are taking money but not honouring orders. Plus the fact they are being recommended by big named companies.

Purchased book and streaming ticket fo Nov 5 and Nov 6/23. States on purchase page streaming information would be sent and others received it on Wednesday Nov 1/23 and I have received nothing! I have sent emails (multiple) messages via Instagram and still nothing. It cost me $84.00CAD for each event and book so I am far from happy. Buyer beware this company appears to be only on a page on the internet and is an empty shell with no business but to steal your money!
SCAM! take your money but dont honor it
Sign up for 3 book gift subscription but they only offered 3 books then have ignored me for the last 8 months of fornightly emails - SCAM!!!!

I have spent 2 months waiting for a £100 order and despite many emails I have yet to get anything but an auto-reply. What is going on with this company? This is appalling. I can't find a telephone number and have no other way to contact the company to complain!
I am absolutely disgusted at the…
I am absolutely disgusted at the customer service from this company. I had a year long book subscription that started in January of this year. Due to the cost of living crisis they made the decision to stop their book subscription service, and everyone was given £100 to spend on books on their website as a result of any leftover subscription. This had to be spent by the end of May, which I did. And I am yet to receive my order. At first I had replies to my emails saying that my order would be dispatched in a few days, but now I get no response to emails or Facebook messages and, rather unhelpfully, there is no telephone number to contact. Presumably so customers cannot complain to someone directly about the poor customer service!
So now I have no books that I ordered and am technically £100 out of pocket. It is such a shame as I loved their book subscription service and never had any problems. I will be taking this further until I get a refund, and most definitely will not be placing an order with them ever again.
Appalling Customer Service
I placed an order and the books I received were in a damaged condition - ripped dustcovers on the hardbacks and bent cover on the paperback - and which had clearly been damaged prior to sending them out as they were tightly packed (although not bubble wrapped or protected) in the box and had no room for manoeuvre.
Naturally I contacted Love My Read about this and in response I received an incredibly rude and dismissive e-mail from their staff stating that with "100% certainty" the books had been damaged in transit, that I was "unprincipled" and "unreasonable" to suggest otherwise despite the fact this person had never seen the parcel, and even went on to infer that I was lying! I was also told that despite this being their error that they would also only send out replacements when I had returned the damaged books!
I was absolutely gobsmacked at this response and it is the worst and most improper e-mail I have ever received from a business. I worked in customer service for 15 years and I would never have dreamed of sending such an unprofessional and appalling e-mail.
Love My Read has only been trading for 3 years and if this is the sort of attitude and customer service they think is appropriate then I highly doubt the company will have longevity. I have been a bibliophile since I was young and am always looking to support small businesses and independent booksellers as in this digital age I want bookshops to thrive. Needless to say, after this appalling experience I will not be making any further purchases from Love My Read and will instead be taking my business to those companies who appreciate their customers and treat them with respect and courtesy.
I have tried to complain direct to Love My Read themselves to give them an opportunity to resolve the situation, but they have simply ignored my e-mails - given the above this no surprise as customer service seems very low down on their priorities. As other reviewers have stated, if I could give this company zero stars I would as they are utterly atrocious.

Tried really hard to be fair with this review, as it is hard for start up companies.
I had a subscription for 2 years and I’ve finally given in and cancelled. Mostly, it’s fine, and your books arrive on time, but when there are issues they simply can’t cope.
The snacks that they show in each box in Instagram are rarely all included in your box, so they’ll often substitute by adding two of the same. This seems a little unfair in the partner companies- I wonder if they realise that the reach is far lower than expected? Sometimes the books are not worth the subscription price if you choose one from an earlier month or a paperback. For example, selling a Nancy Mitford book for full price when it’s been published for 40 odd years is a bit much.
When you contact customer service - on my goodness - it takes forever to get a response. My last contact was 1 December 22 and I had a response on 3 January 23!
Kids boxes - I had two different ages, and was expecting all the treats to be gluten free as they usually are, as my youngest is coeliac, so it was a surprise when they included gluten containing snacks. It didn’t work for me that you don’t get a choice of book, i have two daughters and the books were very boy oriented. Of course all genders can read all books and so on, but it’s a paid service and my daughters have their own tastes and preferences, and it’s not books about a boy in the jungle. I was charged twice and they said they’d sent me a returns label but they didn’t attach it to the email so I just cut my losses and cancelled all 3 of my subscriptions. It’s a great idea and the choices and snacks for adults are lovely, but until they completely overhaul the customer service team response time and make customer retention the key driver.
Poor communication and poor customer…
Poor communication and poor customer service. No phone number to call just an automated email with replies from different people.
Make sure they don't take extra payments!
I use love my read as you don't have to have a rolling subscription. I got my wife a gift subscription of 3 months which was fine but then I noticed another £54 leaving my account after it finished. I emailed (because there's no phone number) and the returned the money with no mention of an apology. Now its the first of December and they have just done it again!
I will have to get in touch with the bank to block access as I can't trust them to not do it again.
Dont bother ordering from this company
Dont bother ordering from this company. Terrible service, ignore emails, they take your money but dont send goods.
Good concept but badly executed
Had a few gift subscriptions and liked the concept, so after purchasing a 3 month gift subscription agreed to re-new at set price, but lovemyread then took extra money. Upon querying was told price I was quoted in account settings was incorrect. Cancelled membership immediately and was refunded and assumed this was end of the matter, until 3 months later when lovemyread started a new gift subscription. Had to chase them to stop membership and issue another refund and requested account be closed all together to avoid them starting another subscription. Shame as it’s a great concept, but badly badly managed
do not fall for this scam
As others you can read here, joined via the Telegraph extras to get the first book free and ended up with a full charge of the subscription. Only noticed when review card transactions. They are not transparent and it's not a 'you can cancel anytime'.
Pricey for what you get
Nice box etc but £20 for a £9 paperback plus £4 worth of snacks seems like quite a rip off
I'd give it 0 stars if I could
I'd give it 0 stars if I could. I joined through a free trial from Vodafone and although the code went through and cost was £0 at checkout, they still charged me the full price which I discovered through my credit card bill a few days later. I've tried to contact them twice now to correct this and I've not heard from them.
So I'm £13 down, 0 books received, 2 messages sent and 0 responses received.
Seems a bit fraudulent to me.
I've tried many, many other trial offers through Vodafone and the Telegraph, of which I've become a continued customer of a few but this has to be the worst in terms of customer service and how they operate.
Absolutely appalling customer service
Absolutely appalling customer service. They have taken £52 from my bank account and I had cancelled subscriptions. I realised soon after setting up as a ‘first month free’ offer through The Telegraph, were not actually going to be free as the book wouldn’t arrive until after they took the first payment. I haven’t received anything from them and cannot get a response from their customer service other than one email saying they couldn’t see where the problem is. Currently I have no idea how I’m going to get my money back from them as no telephone number and no other way to contact. Total disregard for customers and at worst fraudulent.

I absolutely love getting my bookish box from LoveMyRead each month! I've been subscribed since October last year and have had a problem-free subscription since with some lovely reads each month. The boxes are sent out promptly each time with a confirmation email meaning I don't have to chase where my box has disappeared to each time like other subscriptions I won't mention. Great book choices, lovely treats and some bookish goodies each time ❤
