Unicorn cake and Ealing Broadway branch below par
I have ordered the Fresh Berries Cake around 10 times, and both the cake itself and the fresh cream icing have always been exceptional.
This time, however, I ordered the Unicorn Cake and was disappointed to find that the icing was very different from what I am used to. Instead of the fresh cream icing I have enjoyed previously, it had a much sweeter, sugary texture that felt like the shop-bought one. The cake sponge and filling itself were still excellent.
Unfortunately, my experience in-store at the Ealing Broadway branch was also disappointing. The salesperson did not acknowledge my "good morning," "thank you," or "have a good day," either verbally or through basic customer-service gestures such as a smile or a nod. This made the interaction feel unfriendly and unwelcoming.
I remain a fan of the cakes and hope this was an isolated experience, but I wanted to share this feedback as both the product consistency and customer service fell below the standards I have come to expect.

We’re delighted that you’ve consistently enjoyed our Fresh Berry Cake. The Unicorn Cake, however, is finished with a buttercream icing rather than the cream cheese icing used on our Fresh Berry Cake, so it does have a sweeter taste.

Too much sugar
We ordered a unicorn cake for our child’s birthday, and while it looked beautiful, the taste was very disappointing. The cream on the outside was extremely sweet - way too much sugar. Neither the kids nor the adults could really enjoy eating it because it was overpoweringly sugary. Unfortunately, almost half of the cake ended up in the bin. For a birthday cake, appearance is important, but taste matters just as much. Sadly, this cake did not meet our expectations

Our unicorn cake does come with both buttercream filling and buttercream frosting, which is the sweetest icing we offer, and we completely understand that some customers may find it too sweet and overpowering compared to cream cheese or mascarpone-based frostings.

We ordered the cookies and cream cake and it was absolutely delicious...light, tasty and not too sweet.
Also ordered the size for 14 people but easily could have fed 16-18.
