Pickup went smoothly and happy with the car we paid for. Unfortunately, we got a flat tyre approx 300kms from our drop off point. Locauto's suggestion was myself and my family drive the 300kms on the space saver tyre (recommended use is no more that 100kms and at no more than 80km/h) to their base. This was unnaceptable to me, especially when the speed limit is 130km/h on the Autostrada. Aside from this incredibly dangerous policy which ended up costing me 140 euro for the tyre replacement, we were then charged an additional 78 euro on drop off because the company had not correctly quoted me and wouldnt honour the price they quoted. To add insult to injusy, their customer service contact system (aka my only option to potentially be refunded the money) is incredibly difficult and wont find my booking numbers. We used europcar for our next booking and I would highly recommend using them over this company.

The clerk at the salerno office was nice and polite the car was ready when we arrived . All was well. Same at the office in Bari where we left the car. The only thing at the office of Bari was its location . No parking! had to have my wife get out to see some one to guide us . The young man was very helpful.

3rd time I have found cause to praise Locauto who, in respect of Customer Service, blow all rivals out of the water. I hope they maintain this first class approach to customers, it is their main selling point for me

Picking up the car at the Locauto office in Salerno was incredibly smooth and professional. Moreover, the car we were given was exactly the same model we had booked through Booking.com, which is not always the case when renting a car this way.

It is worth mentioning that the return location in Bari is actually at a different address, about four minutes away from the office itself. However, returning the car was not particularly complicated, as there is a parking area nearby where the drop-off takes place.

Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely choose Locauto again.

Booked through a broker, Locauto accepted a 1pm pickup. When we reached out the day before to confirm our train was arriving at that time (5min walk from station), they indicated they close at 1 and we were out of luck and should rebook in a neighbouring city. A portion of our party spent a few hours on phone calls and ultimately had to get an earlier train with new tickets the next morning to make it work. No grace given. To make matters worse, they also tried setting me up with a much smaller vehicle than I prepaid for until I complained and showed them a google comparison of the two car types when my luggage wouldn’t fit! In the end, it worked out, at great pain to me the customer.

Your staff in Salerno almost called me stupid when picking the insurance.
When returning the car in Milan, your staff was also unnecessarily rude when I asked him to switch to English.
No issues with the car.

Very easy, professional, friendly service

Our experience with Locauto was overall excellent.
We rented a car from the Salerno office and returned it in Bari.
Before arrival I completed the online check-in and uploaded all required documents, which made the pickup process incredibly fast. The staff in Salerno were very friendly and professional. The entire handover took only a few minutes.
The car itself was almost brand new (around 7,800 km) and performed perfectly throughout our 1,000 km road trip across southern Italy. Returning the vehicle in Bari was also excellent. The Bari team contacted me one day in advance, provided clear instructions for the after-hours return, and everything went smoothly. I really appreciated their professionalism and communication.
There was only one issue that I hope Locauto will review.
I specifically booked and paid for an automatic transmission, but I received a manual transmission vehicle instead. Since I have more than 20 years of driving experience, including many years driving manual cars, I decided not to return to the office because my family and I were on a tight schedule. Fortunately, driving a manual car was not a problem for me.
However, an automatic transmission costs more, and it was the service I had reserved and paid for. If another customer had not known how to drive a manual car, this situation could have seriously disrupted their holiday.
Despite this, our overall experience with Locauto was very positive, and I would gladly rent from the company again. I simply hope this feedback reaches the Salerno office and that the company reviews how such situations are handled in the future.

I would also appreciate if Locauto could review my booking and let me know whether any compensation or refund of the price difference is possible, since I paid for an automatic vehicle but received a manual one.
