I was a walk-in customer to Locauto’s office in Grosseto, without advance reservation, and received great service in setting up my 3-day rental. I also appreciated the attitude — relaxed, no pressure and helpful. The car — Citroen C3, manual transmission — was great for driving the winding, up and down roads of the southern Tuscany landscape. Overall, an excellent car rental experience.

All I needed was a basic car to get me from one location to another, do I have no experience of special requests/needs. However, due to the unexpected, I had to pick the car up two hours early. I was told that I would have to pay for the day's hire all over again. And not just an extra €15 for the advertised daily rate, but the full €124.84 to include insurance and damage waiver. When I offered to pay for the extra two hours, I was told that cars were rented by the day, not by the hour. So if I'd paid for the whole day, why did I have to pay all over again just because I'd turned up early?
But the car itself was fine: a basic Fiat Panda which was perfectly comfortable and efficient on the longish drive, and the staff at the other end were perfectly helpful and friendly. So, all in all, a bit of a curate's egg: good in parts.
Two days later, I received a kindly reply to my review, suggesting that in future I check for added costs when booking. But I did, and was quite prepared to pay them. Still, I have had no explanation as to why I had to pay the full amount all over again just because I went to pick the car up myself (rather than have it delivered) at 9.00 in the morning rather than at 11.00.

Locauto car rental has offices in many locations so pick up and drop off are convenient. The rental agents at Pisa Airport and Grosseto were extremely friendly and helpful. A thoroughly positive experience.

I used your services back in August while visiting Grosseto. No major issue there. On October 15th, I received a message from my bank that the same credit card I had used at the time, has been charged appx 25 euros from a “permanently closed” Locauto branch in Trento, on the other side of the country. I believe that my cc details have been copied and is being fraudulently used by current/ex Locauto employees. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter urgently and get back to me please.

But, as many has already said, the women in the office was extremely unfriendly from the start.
We were given the wrong location because I use iPhone maps, and was declared an idiot because of this. We came 25 minutes late, but I explained that it took us 45 minutes to walk because of the wrong information we got.

We had 2 baby seats but one was broken and had nothing to seal the straps with. I explained this when I met her again, and she said no problem, I take it of the bill.
Guess what, she didn’t.

The renting was easy and fast. Car worked perfectly!

I do not normally leave bad reviews but based on my experience with this company this summer I have decided it’s my duty to warn other customers.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received from this company. When road side assistance was required, the response time was unreasonably slow, it was clear that customer support was never going to be a priority for the staff in Grosseto.
Based on my experience, I find it difficult to trust the positive reviews that this company advertises in Grosseto.
The focus seems to be on collecting payment rather than providing even the most basic level of courtesy and any form of kindness in their service.
Major Tip: If you do end up renting from this company, make sure to take a thorough video of the car before driving away. Otherwise, you may find yourself facing unexpected charges once you return home.

It is disappointing because I have received very good service from this company in Rome. Unfortunately, it seems that the standards of staff training and customer care are not consistent with this company.

Overall, my experience with this company left me very upset and disappointed. The staff in Grosseto showed no kindness or consideration toward their customers, which only added to an already negative experience.
It is such a shame, as I visit every year, but I will not be returning until the staff have undergone at least some basic customer service training in ‘how not to be so rude to their customers’

Nice people, no problems.

It was great, the car was fine, nothing fancy, good fuel consumption, just DON’T use discovercars.com they gave us the wrong directions! And I don’t mean like 300 feet away, I mean the other side of town! But we had a very friendly local take us there free of charge! Locauto was great, just next time we will be ordering directly from Locauto and not from 3rd parties.

It was an easy transaction. The car was ready when we arrived. The car worked great for our needs, and the return was simple. Also the price was very reasonable.

We asked for you biggest estate and got it which was great. Bookings.com directions to pick up are incorrect. I would fix that though.

They were extremely accommodating arranging the drop off and pick up of the vehicle at our hotel. That was very helpful and appreciated. The only suggestion would be to add toll road transponders to all rental vehicles.

Link to the pick up location was WRONG! I lost over one hour to find the rental office in Grosseto!

The Lady spoke perfect English, explain the rental conditions very clear, helped us to get the best car according to our needs.
No problems with the car, we used the rental daily, easy to put the fuel.
