5 star refurb
We just wrapped up a massive refurb on our Victorian semi in Wimbledon, and honestly, LMDEC LTD turned what felt like a never-ending nightmare into something straight out of a glossy mag. My wife and I were dreading it— we’ve heard too many horror stories about builders ghosting mid-job or slapping on shoddy work that falls apart in a year. But these guys? Solid from the jump.
A big shoutout to Lukasz, the owner—he’s the kind of straight-talking bloke who runs a tight ship. From our first site visit, he clocked every potential headache (like the dodgy wiring snaking through the joists) and laid out a no-BS plan that actually stuck to reality, not some pie-in-the-sky pitch. He’s hands-on without micromanaging, popping in weekly to troubleshoot, and you can tell he’s built this outfit on repeat business, not quick flips. In a world full of fly-by-night traders, Lukasz’s got that old-school integrity that keeps you sleeping easy.
They handled the full rewiring top to bottom, no corners cut, and Oleh the electrician deserves a medal for that leg. Our old setup was a fire hazard waiting to happen—flickering lights, dodgy sockets that’d trip the fuse every time we ran the kettle. Oleh didn’t just rip it out and slap in new; he mapped the whole thing like a surgeon, adding smart controls, LED downlights everywhere, and buried cabling so it’s invisible. The guy’s a wizard with the multimeter—tested every inch twice, explained the regs in plain English (no jargon bollocks), and now it’s whisper-quiet, no hums or sparks. Saved us a fortune on energy bills already, and Oleh even spotted a grounding issue in the meter that could’ve voided our insurance. Proper pro.
Then the central heating overhaul—god, that was clutch with winter creeping in. Swapped the ancient boiler for a high-efficiency combi, rerouted all the pipes without turning the place into a war zone, and balanced the rads so every room hits the perfect temp. No more freezing bedrooms while the lounge is a sauna.
Plastering was next, and fair play, they smoothed out walls that looked like they’d been through a blender. No cracks showing through after a month, which is rare in these old houses with their wonky settling. The painting crew nailed it on the two bathrooms and kitchen—crisp whites in the loos that make ’em feel spa-like, and a soft grey in the kitchen that bounces light off the new splashback tiles. No drips, no roller marks, just clean lines. We picked Farrow & Ball shades, and they mixed ’em spot-on without moaning about the faff.
Project ran a tad over by there months thanks to some surprise rot in the floorboards (Wimbledon’s damp strikes again), but they communicated like pros—no radio silence, just daily updates via WhatsApp. Budget held firm at £115k, which felt fair for the scope. The team’s lads were tidy, too—hoovered up daily, protected the floors with boards, and even fixed a leaky tap that wasn’t their job.
If you’re in SW19 and your place needs a glow-up, get LMDEC in. They’re not the cheapest flash-in-the-pan outfit, but they’re the real deal—reliable, no BS, and they actually care about the end result. Five stars, no question. Cheers, team—especially you, Lukasz and Oleh!
