Lloyd York, horrendous experience!
Ordered a new Evoque from Lloyd York and they reneged on the contract, putting price up £2k and with a spec change reducing the value and quality of the car. They blamed JLR, saying they had no control and were only brokers. Pointed me to small print in a document they admitted they ‘forgot’ to give me. Got my deposit back but they wasted months of my time. Their attitude was terrible. Lucky let off for me, went to Porsche and treated like a VIP, with a much higher quality and reliable product. Will never buy another JLR vehicle and will never deal with Lloyd Group ever again.

Simply awful customer service
Jaguar Land Rover York.
Appalling customer service once you have actually purchased the car. Ridiculous delays, no communication, and not delivering on promises again and again.

Lloyd BMW Bodyshop Excellent
Lloyd BMW Bodyshop have just undertaken a minor repair for me. It was done very quickly and well. Louise and Rik were easy to deal with, very clear and customer focused. The actual work was done very nicely. Very happy.

Not the service I expect
Just returned from yet another visit to Landrover Kelso.
My Discovery Sport was in for a routine service on 13th February, I mentioned noise coming from front of vehicle which was diagnosed as coming from front tyres. Changed tyres and noise continued. Later in February I had to get Landrover Assistance called out when burning smell was noticed inside car and liquid leaking under engine. Very helpful chap immediately said something to do diff/transfer box and towed car to garage. Got car returned a few days later and presumed problem fixed. Had to call garage again about noise from front of car and couldn’t get repair slot until beginning of April. Mentioned burning smell again when I took car to garage and again was diagnosed as faulty transfer box which requires replacing. Couldn’t get repair appointment until beginning of May.
My car was clean when it entered garage and was returned filthy due to someone’s muddy boots.

Just purchased a volvo v60 from Steven Whatman at Lloyd volvo carlisle and I must say a fantastic experience. No pressure sales honest and a pleasure to deal with, couldn't believe that they put £30 of fuel in the car without charging me. Bottle of wine on collection. Would definitely buy from them again. 5 star service.

Bought a second hand VW Polo for my daughter from Lloyds Kelso and can honestly say it was the best car buying experience i've ever had in my 40 years of driving. Stevin Hamilton my salesman was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish of the whole process with a very honest description of the car and a personal video tour, so much so that this was the first time ever that I put a deposit down without viewing the car personally. Thanks also to Elizabeth at handover, very relaxed and enjoyable experience and car as described. Three weeks after purchase I got a call from Stevin asking how my car was performing and reminding me that I had 12 months warranty and roadside assistance which hopefully we don't have to use. Brilliant service guys, keep up the good work as I would not hesitate in giving you my business in the future.

Horrific experience from start to finish.
I cannot express enough how utterly horrendous my experience with Lloyd Kelso Land Rover has been. From start to finish, it has been a nightmare of epic proportions.
When I reached out to their head of business months ago regarding the exorbitant repair bills totalling over £10,000 within two years of purchasing one of their supposedly "luxury" vehicles, he pointed me to his after sales manager who I ended up having to complain about to their company secretary due to him not being able to read or answer an email. Further down the line, it also took their head of business one whole calendar month to respond to an email (something he'd promised to do in a single afternoon), shocking service to a client who had spent almost £50k in cash in their dealership just 2 years ago.
Not only did Lloyd Kelso, Land Rover fail to acknowledge the egregious oversight in not disclosing these impending expenses during the sale, but they also constantly reminded me of how they had “zero liability” in any of the vast issues I had encountered with the vehicle within two years of ownership. Putting much of the problems down to winter driving and living by the sea (salt). This doesn't say much for the durability of their premium, 4x4 off-road vehicles.
In their opinion, they sold me a top end luxury vehicle and the fact that it encountered so many issues in such a short time was absolutely no business of theirs. All par for the course apparently. As the vehicle is now 7+ years old with 57k miles on the clock, wear and tear to the tune of £10k+ is fully expected.. Even though the vehicle had been sold to me two years prior in mint condition.
The deception didn't stop there. Despite being sold a bill of goods about the vehicle's pristine condition, it quickly became apparent that it was nothing more than a ticking time bomb waiting to implode. From recurring airbag malfunctions to oil leaks, coolant leaks, oil dilution and widespread corrosion (brake pipes/ ace pipes) resembling a rusted relic, the vehicle's laundry list of issues reads like a horror story.
And let's not even get started on the after-service. Despite my persistent efforts to rectify the situation, the dealership's response was beyond abysmal. Instead of addressing the numerous known failures and defects, they chose to bury their heads in the sand, offering nothing more than a token gesture of £500 which doesn’t scratch the surface of the financial and emotional toll this ordeal has taken.
In two decades of driving, I have never encountered such blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and basic decency. Lloyd Kelso Land Rover is deceitful, incompetent, and utterly devoid of integrity.
Save yourself the time, money, and headache – steer clear of this dealership at all costs.
I'd be more than happy to share further details of my experience directly with others to save them from such an ordeal.
Bought my new Kia Sportage from Lloyds…
Bought my new Kia Sportage from Lloyds South lakes Morecambe in 2020 and have had it serviced every year by the Kia dealers at Morecambe. My service and MOT is due soon so I contacted the Morecambe Kia dealership only to be told that they cannot service or MOT my car for another two months!! I was told to take my car elsewhere!! I might think of buying my next car from elsewhere if that is what service is offered.

AVOID LLOYD MOTOR GROUP YORK JAGUAR
Until the car is sold the service was good and after the car is collected service is disaster.
Collected the car and into one hour drive home found some warning issues emergency braking not available, lane assistance not available etc. and i sent email same time, got no response. Found few other issues like driver door key less entry and driver door light under the mirror not working. Everytime i have to chase them and so far there are no replies to my emails and no good response. Firstly Why these issue are not found when Jaguar claims to do checks before selling used cars and if serious faults are found with two hours of collection why no action is taken. And i am still waiting for the refund from my reservation fees ???????????????

Lloyd Mini exceptional service
I have used Lloyd Mini before, but another branch, and I was impressed then but South Lakes Mini, exceeded my expectations at no point were they pushy at all. I was a distance buyer, so I never got to test drive or see the Mini other than online, but Ethan was exceptional. After losing out on another Mini here, because his colleague Sarah sold it after I called earlier and wouldn’t help me further when I called to put a deposit down which wasn’t very good teamwork, but he helped me source another Mini from another branch and the service from buying it, organising a small amount of finance and getting the car delivered to me on the other side of the country was outstanding. I have bought many cars over the years but this has to be the best experience that I’ve had. Whether you are local or buying online I would really recommend Lloyd Mini and I will be using them again in the future. Thanks Ethan for all your hard work and effort.

Really nice sales exec at Carlisle Kia.
Thank you to sales exec Jamie Turnbull of Carlisle Kia for your help in purchasing our new Kia Picanto.
I got a quote from Carlisle Kia on one of the big car-quote websites (plus lots of quotes from other dealerships too). I contacted Jamie to ask if he could negotiate a price with me as I wanted to move away from the local dealership i'd purchased my last Kia from. Also, some other dealerships were too far away for us to travel to.
Carlisle is a bit further away for us than our local Kia but we're willing to travel if the staff seem nice, are friendly on the phone & are not too pushy. Jamie and Lloyds ticked all these boxes for us.
From the start, my partner and I had a good feeling from Lloyds Carlisle because we spoke to Jamie on the phone about our potential purchase & he was helpful, friendly, genuine and negotiated an affordable price for us which meant my boyfriend and I are more than happy to travel a little further to pick up the new car.
He also put together a video tour of the same model of car we were buying so we could see it, and mentioned the various paint/fabric protection packages we could add-on (in a waye that wasn't pushy or aggressive).
Very pleased with Lloyds and the sort of nice people they hire. Thanks Jamie! Martin H & partner Robert.

Lloyds BMW Newcastle
About 4 months after I bought my 21 plate bmw it come up saying the car was due a service!!! Got in touch and they agreed this should of been done before I collected the car. A few days before it was coming in the drivers side window stopped working (wouldn't close) phoned bmw assistance and they were out in under 1 hour. Technician was unable to fix the problem and had to tow the car in with a courtesy car getting dropped of the following day. After 1 week I phoned up to see the progress on my vehicle as no one had been in touch, told it was waiting for parts. Another week goes by and still no contact so I phone again, this time I find out that my car has been damaged when it was brought in!! Told it was damage to the front bumper and the screen wash reservoir. No apology or anything like that just it will be a bit longer. Finally after 24 days I get it back. Collected it on a Saturday morning and there was only a young lad who knew nothing about the situation only to say it had a ticket on my keys to say that the car wasn't to be cleaned!! I asked why but he didn't have any answers. Finally to top things of when I was driving home went to clean the front window and there was no screen wash!!!

Lloyds Volvo South Lakes and Carliske
Lloyds Volvo South Lakes and Carliske. Low moral standards. The garages will claim a mix up between the 2 Lloyd's group garages in their response but it was not. So here is the factual story. My brother in law was in hospital after an accident, I was supporting his partner looking to purchase a car. We called in but there was nothing suitable, a nice salesman called Alan looked on the computer and found a suitable car in Carlisle, I was going to Carlisle on Friday so agreed to look at it and complete the deal, if it was suitable. I actually made a special trip up the following day, Thursday to view the car. The car was good. As I started the deal with Alan in Kendal the sales manager (Steve) in Carlilse insisted I deal with Kendal, fair enough, internal politics and commission/sales nonsense but so be it. We wanted to do that anyways so we could be longstanding local Volvo customers. Sadly that won't happen now. I called Mark (sales manager Kendal) agreed the deal, a reduction in the screen price but a fair deal for a cash sale (Volvo are far more keen for you to have finance, obviously better for them with higher APRs) we agreed the deal and I gave my card details for the £200 deposit. THATS THE CAR OFF SALE AND SECURED Mark said, I even had the decency to go back into the Carlisle garage to confirm the deal was complete thanking them for the service. Over an hour later Mark tried to call me back simply for the address for the paperwork. Missed me but spoke to Emma to obtain what was needed, All done! Bank transfer agreed on collection with a small cash payment to make up the full total. That was PM Thursday..... No contact then for 4 days, Mark says he left a message on Monday morning (4 days later) Emma didn't get this so she called in on her way back from the Hospital, she was sat down and it was explained that they (Carlisle had sold the car to someone else, just after I left????) How is this possible when the deal was done. Even during the deal it appears Mark was lying to me saying he needed to call Carlisle on 3 occasions to confirm that they were happy with the price. Bizarre, I was still sat outside the dealership looking at the open car with the courtesy lights on. Basically after we had agreed the deal it appears that the Carlisle garage had been made a better offer. Once a deal is done and a handshake, albeit over the phone due to internal sales politics the deal should be done, its not morally right for reasons of greed to go back on the deal. Its unreal to be honest. It's like car salesmen behaviour from the 80s, outside your internal bubble life has moved on. Steer clear of this garage, they don't deserve your business.

Bully customer service manager
I wouldn’t go back to Lloyds cockermouth if they gave me a car for free.
Wolf in sheep’s clothing, rude and arrogant ‘customer service’ managers. Patronising and awful. Do not go here, you will regret it as soon as you have any slight issue with your car.
I cannot express how rude and awful they are. If I had to choose one word, it would be bullies.

LLOYD ARE A DISGRACEFUL DEALERSHIP
I bought my "approved used BMW" from Lloyd BMW Cockermouth for just under 13k. It was a 2011 E89 Z4 model and so was older than their normal stock but there was a shortage of vehicles at the time and the vehicle was ".......so pristine, they had to sell it THEMSELVES rather than sell it on to another dealer" as it had been traded in by "......the guy in charge of the UK Z4 owners club". I was happy with my purchase until electronic problems started to occur,
I took my car to Lloyd BMW Carlisle and paid £120 for a diagnostic test where I was told that water was getting into the boot space and both the PDC control unit and the hydraulic module were both water damaged and required replacement at a cost of £3379.56. I would then have to pay for another diagnostic test to find out why water was getting into the boot space and then pay for the relevant seal to be replaced. Now, I am a mechanical engineer and I have never replaced expensive parts prior to tackling the actual cause of the damage. Could this be because I have since learnt that several BMW models suffer with the issue of not being entirely water tight? The assistant at Lloyd BMW Carlisle then went on to tell me that their technician had assumed that I had known about the issues since both the PDC control unit and the hydraulic module had been wrapped in carrier bags!
I informed the assistant that I had purchased the car from their Cockermouth dealership, and since it was an "approved used BMW", then surely someone there should have checked to see if this known BMW fault had been tackled with carrier bags? The assistant then called Martin Shepherd who is the sales manager at Lloyd Cockermouth, who unsurprisingly decided that they had no responsibility for the issues.
I then asked the assistant what my options were and was told that I could pay for the repairs myself or I could consider trading the Z4 in and rolling the dice again with Lloyd's version of "approved used BMW".
I was transferred to Jamie at Lloyds BMW Carlisle who would be happy to discuss the trade in value of my car.
Using his special Lloyd calculator, Jamie decided that my £13000 car that needed £3500 of work was now worth £2500 as a trade in!!
Needless to say I am disgusted with the shady practices and the level of customer service displayed by the Lloyd motor group. Clearly "Approved Used BMW" doesn't mean what I thought it did!
Reply to the response from Lloyd group.
Lloyds once again do nothing to resolve my issue, I’m not even worth an original response to my complaint, just a cut and paste copy of their previous reply to the previous complaint, they just offer inane comments about future restoration of our relationship. Rest assured Lloyd that in future I will be purchasing my approved used BMW’s from a more reputable motor group. Like all your other customers who use your trust pilot review page to sing the praises of Sytner, I won’t be a returning customer.
To all potential customers, read these reviews and Lloyd responses carefully, it is very apparent that the Lloyd motor group have no interest in you once they have your money. But they do hope that you will be back in the future to spend even more money! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT LLOYD, UNLESS YOU THINK “APPROVED USED” MEANS “MAY CONTAIN CARRIER BAGS!

Caution buying used cars from them
Purchased what I was told was a high spec demo that had not been in an accident. Everything I was told about the car turned out to be lies to get a sale.
Consider getting an independent inspection of a used vehicle if buying from them. After buying I took the car to another dealership For warranty repairs and they pointed out how badly the car had been repaired after an accident. The grill was broken, they had t-cut scratches, bad paint job and damage to the batteries under the vehicle which had t been correctly repaired. When I queried this with the dealership they said unless they make a claim on the insurance they don’t consider it as an accident. And as we know it’s cheaper for them to do repairs themselves than to put through the insurance. But it does bring a mockery to the 278 point check or whatever it is they do in used vehicles since none of the issues had been flagged on that by themselves.
Personally I’d avoid this group as they are untrustworthy and couldn’t have cared less at what they had done.
