Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 60 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers frequently expressed deep frustration regarding completely unresponsive customer support channels, missing assistance at airport desks, and significant, unexpected flight delays. Travelers also pointed out sudden, highly inconvenient schedule changes alongside frustratingly difficult, lengthy refund procedures that frequently left paying passengers stranded. Some reviewers were happy with the remarkably affordable ticket prices, clean aircraft cabins, and surprisingly smooth, trouble-free journeys experienced on specific regional routes. These individuals genuinely appreciated the polite staff members on board and felt the overall travel service closely matched typical low-cost carrier standards elsewhere.

Criminal scam company

They mess up their own schedule.
They cancel the flight.
They never answer the phone, don't reply via chat and ignore emails.
Then they’ll say you get a refund if you send a copy of your passport and they won’t ever get back to you.
I am really worried about sending them my passport details now, even more than getting a refund for a flight that they cancelled. The people who run this should be locked up in a jail cell.

Nice decent flight

We flew with Thai Lion Air on September 25, from Bangkok to Krabi. The flight was smooth, on time, and the service was decent. Overall, a pleasant experience—I would definitely fly with them again.

I often fly this airline because their…

I often fly this airline because their fares are often significantly cheaper than competitors.

However, if you book them you must accept and expect the following:

- Delays are significant and common

- As other people have said, if you experience difficulties and are entitled to a refund: You will never get it.

- There is no customer service whatsoever. Calls are not answered. Emails, no matter how many you send, will never be responded to.

- Only ever book an "economy lite" (the cheapest), and then add check-in bags later in the booking process later. There is no point doing the standard fare as they will not honour any of their stated inclusions: including any luggage allowance, so you will just end up paying twice. And for reasons stated above you will not get your money back as there is no customer service.

IF you accept the above when you book, the planes are comfortable and the leg room is above average when compared to other carriers in the region.

first time ever Thai lion air

Yesterday was the first time ever that i had a flight with Thai Lion Air. If you’re used to Ryanair this company is a breeze of fresh air. Great Seats, friendly employees and not constantly trying to sell you lotery tickets and other crap you don’t need. Only downside is that I’ve tried 4 weeks to change my seat to an extra legroom seat as I’m pretty tall. Support was really bad, and I didn’t manage to book an extra legroom seat. I guess they don’t want to make some extra money.

My experiences with Wheelchair…

My experiences with Wheelchair boarding. From Bangkok, staffs were professional know the procedures well. But in Chaingmai airport, the staffs were not know what they were doing. First, the girl asked me to queue online with the other passengers. I was rejected then she went asking, we could be able to get high priority. When boarding she didn't come to get the wheelchair. I have to push it myself. I asked the counter service, the girl told me to board last. I hope they should go back to train again.

Thai Lion Air Customer Support Is Unacceptable

I booked a flight from Bangkok to Chiang Rai and contacted Thai Lion Air 20 days before the flight date to cancel my booking and request a refund according to their own fare conditions.

Their customer support responded by telling me the ticket was not refundable and that I am only entitled to receive the taxes back. This completely contradicts the expectations set when booking the ticket, and their explanation was vague, unhelpful, and showed zero effort to resolve the issue fairly.

To make matters worse, they didn’t bother to tell me how long the tax refund will take, and there has been no clear communication afterward. I’m left waiting indefinitely with no timeline, no transparency, and no sense of responsibility from their side.

This experience has shown me that Thai Lion Air’s customer support is unreliable and unprofessional. I’m writing this review so others know what they might face when dealing with cancellations or refunds.

I strongly advise future passengers to be cautious when booking with Thai Lion Air. This level of service is simply unacceptable.

Great Airline, Don’t let the negative reviews put you off

Used twice whilst travelling in Thailand and can’t fault. This was the cheapest flight out of all the operators that offered flights for this route, the aircraft were clean and there were no delays to the flight. Don’t get why it’s rated so poorly, the service is no different from European carriers such as Ryanair, EasyJet, etc.

Scheduled change and no refund

Booked a flight that was then rescheduled with a 5 hour difference from the original flight. Due to connecting flights I could not accept the flight change so asked for a refund. Getting this refund has been impossible.

Do not book with Thai Lion Air unless…

Do not book with Thai Lion Air unless you're prepared to be stranded without notice.

I had a confirmed ticket on Flight SL220 from Bangkok to Kathmandu. Thai Lion Air canceled the flight and never notified me. No email. No SMS. Nothing. I found out only after showing up at the airport. Their own staff admitted they failed to send any notice.

I was left with no support, no refund at the counter, and had to book a same-day replacement flight at my own expense, which cost significantly more than my original ticket. I submitted proof, documented everything, and chased them for over a month just to get the basic refund for the cancelled flight. They never offered to cover the replacement cost.

Thai Lion Air’s customer service is unresponsive, unaccountable, and completely unprepared to handle their own mistakes.

If you value your time, money, or travel plans, avoid this airline at all costs.

Multiple delays and no information given

The flight started with a 2 hour delay, when we arrived they tried to land and nearly crashed due to light wind (flown a dozen times in worse weather so I think the pilots are bad as well).then without telling us they flew us to a airport 2 hours away, refused to let us deboard and gave us no information before flying to the original destination. Worst airline ever!
