I've been a Lightspeed customer since 2010. It used to be amazing!! The product is good, the support is awful. The online chat has no real access and if you purchase hardware there is zero support if... See more

Returning to lightspeed and the Help Elijiah gave
I was a using Lightspeed (R) a few years back, had to leave for a couple years,
I signed back up again but with X and first i was not too happy as it was so different and some of the features where not in X that where in R,
But Elijiah walked me through and after using X now going on 2 months i have happy, Yes I do miss the features which where in R, but the extra features that are in X like being able to use your phone as your POS on the fly is amazing,
If you looking at coming to Lightspeed talk to Elijiah and I am sure you'll be happy you did.

Knowledgeable and supportive sales service
Have always heard how modern and advanced lightspeed has always been modular with any business model and customizable with every consumers needs from many reviews but with so many features I always expected a high cost from such a sophisticated system. As I stand corrected, working with Callie Friedman and her persistence to make sure I understood that even their pricing is flexible and that they put their customers first. With no time wasteD she got straight to the point with what they have to offer and how helpful each tool the have can be, almost eliminating weeks of labor on inventory and decision-making for re orders and logistics. Answering all my questions and even demonstrating how and what would be of best use for my business needs. I thank you Callie Friedman.

Lightspeed was quick
Lightspeed was quick to respond to my call. A technician was sent to the home to test for mold/fungus. We had results in 24 hours! They answered all my questions and broke it down into layman's terms. Fantastic service

13 Years of Loyalty Ended by a Billing Policy
We have been customers of Vend, and later Lightspeed, for approximately 13 years.
In June 2026, following the conflict involving Iran, our business in Dubai came under significant financial pressure. To improve cash flow, we decided that when our annual subscription expired on 22 August 2026, we would switch to monthly billing instead of renewing for another year.
On 16 June 2026, approximately two months before our annual subscription was due to expire, we selected the option to change our billing cycle. We believed this would simply change our next renewal from annual to monthly.
Instead, Lightspeed immediately terminated our prepaid annual subscription, despite there still being more than two months remaining on it, and replaced it with a new monthly contract. The unused portion of the annual subscription was converted into account credit and applied against monthly invoices. The result is that Lightspeed is now attempting to charge us an additional monthly payment on 16 July, even though our service had already been paid for until 22 August before we made the billing change.
This outcome was not clear to us when making the billing change. Had we understood that changing the billing cycle would immediately terminate our annual subscription, we would never have proceeded.
We contacted Lightspeed immediately, explained that this was not our intention, and asked them to reverse the change. They refused, stating that the system had processed it correctly and that it could not be undone.
As a result, we have decided to develop our own POS platform rather than continue with Lightspeed. Despite explaining that we no longer require access after 16 July, Lightspeed maintains that we must still pay another monthly invoice because, in their view, the annual contract had already been replaced by a monthly contract.
What made matters worse was their interpretation of the cancellation policy. Although they describe it as a 30-day notice period, when we gave notice on 2 July they advised us that our account could not be cancelled until 16 August because cancellations can only take effect on a billing anniversary. In our case, this effectively meant giving around 45 days’ notice rather than the advertised 30 days, and paying for another month of service that we neither wanted nor needed.
After 13 years as a customer, we expected someone to apply a degree of common sense and resolve what was clearly an unintended billing outcome. Instead, every response focused on explaining what the system did rather than whether the outcome was reasonable or whether there was any willingness to exercise discretion for a long-standing customer.
Ironically, this experience pushed us to build our own POS system. Using AI and Replit, we were able to build software tailored to our business in around a week, despite having no previous software development experience. The total cost to build it was approximately one-third of what we previously paid for a single year of Lightspeed, and our ongoing operating costs are expected to be around 11% of our previous annual subscription.
AI is changing the software industry. The technology itself is no longer the barrier it once was. What businesses will increasingly pay a premium for is excellent customer service, flexibility and trust. That’s exactly where Lightspeed let us down. After 13 years as a customer, it was disappointing to discover that loyalty counted for so little when a genuine mistake occurred.
If there’s one piece of advice we’d give other small businesses, it’s to seriously consider whether they still need to rent expensive off-the-shelf software. AI has made custom software far more accessible than most people realise, and when customer service disappears, it becomes much harder to justify paying a premium for a commercial platform.
The software itself served us well for many years, but the way this issue has been handled has completely eroded our confidence in Lightspeed and has brought a 13-year business relationship to an end.

Outstanding assistance.
Shelfie an amazing job! I’m so grateful he actually took the time. He took 45 minutes on the phone with me to walk me through some issues. I was having with my payment system and getting things lined up for an event I have coming. I’m so so grateful every time I call light speed for something. I always got a great agent. This agent did exactly what I wanted and more. Thank you guys. I truly truly appreciate it.

The software is bordeline a joke
The software is bordeline a joke. Sync issues and so many bugs. Back office reports do not match the reports on the devices, leading to highly confusing cashing up and other issues. Stock / inventory module cant understand you sell items in different formats or servings. Waste of time and money.

Continues to Charge us. They owe over $3,800 after we cancelled
We were with Lightspeed Retail, Golf and Restaurant from 2019 to April 2026. The software needs a major upgrade especially Retail and Golf. The worst part is after we cancelled our subscription they have continued to charge us. They owe us over $3,800 as of this date. I have emailed and called, no one will answer. Do not do business with this company.

Run...run far away....this company is awful
Lightspeeds customer service is literally the worst I have ever had to deal with, no empathy or knowledge of the issues of their products, just arguments and headaches. Ive been forced to switch to manually taking payments because the card reader keeps shitting the bed its totally worthless, highly suggest going elsewhere and saving yourself the stress and headaches.

I am so impressed and grateful for the Lightspeed Support Team.
I am so grateful for the Lightspeed customer support team! I recently had an issue with my receipt printer and unsuccessfully spent hours trying to fix it myself. I gave up and called the Lightspeed Help Centre in hopes they could help me. Liju, the representative was friendly, helpful, patient and knowledgeable, and was able to resolve my issue quickly.

Our company Auditors have flagged the system as unreliable
Something has definitely changed in the Lightspeed support team. Maybe they have hired untrained agents but definitely it’s nothing like it used to be. I have been using Lightspeed for over 8 years but I am now actively looking at alternatives as I can no longer accept the horrific level of support from the team. It’s like they have absolutely no idea what they are doing now. Shocking. Our auditors have flagged the system as “unreliable” and “greatly concerning” as the raw sales data they share (which we can’t extract ourselves due to the limitations in data retrieval!) does not match the sales showing in the sales reporting inside the Lightspeed system. The auditors have said they can not rely on the system data and therefore can not verify our sales! Which is a massive issue. Extremely concerning. We will likely move to Shopify or one of the more reputable providers.

I am extremely disappointed with Lightspeed POS. During the sales process, I was promised excellent support, reliable hardware, and a system that would help my business run smoothly. The sales team said all the right things to get me to sign up.
However, just two weeks after signing the contract, the system went down and the hardware stopped working properly. When I contacted the help centre, they were unable to resolve the issues or provide the level of support that was promised.
It feels like many of the promises made before I signed were simply sales tactics. Once the contract was signed, the support and service were nowhere near what I was led to expect.
I would not recommend Lightspeed POS based on my experience. Be very careful and do your research before committing, as the reality did not match the promises made during the sales process.

I will just copy a message my…
I will just copy a message my Lightspeed account manager just sent me, over a dispute regarding price increase:
"In Section 20.8, as I've screenshotted below, you'll see the clause stating we can increase the subscription price (or remove the attached discount) with 30 days' notice."
The section states: "20.8. Lightspeed reserves the right, at any time and upon thirty (30) days’ written notice, to amend this Agreement, including making changes to the Fees and scope of the Products. Such amendments may be made for reasons including, but not limited to: (i) complying with applicable law or regulation, (ii) security reasons, (iii) changes in market conditions, and (iv) changes imposed by a third-party supplier."
Which basically means they can increase (almost doubled in my case) your fees for basically whatever reason they can think of, you CANNOT stop the contract at that point without paying an early termination fee, and the only way to keep the fee at the same price was to being bullied into signing another contract with them (which I obviously didn't do). I will either have to pay the augmented fee for a couple of months or go through legal way, but I thought everyone should be informed that this is their business practice.
If anyone at Lightspeed tries to spin it I a different way, I have the emails all saved.

Absolutely awful company to deal with
Absolutely awful company to deal with. If I could give zero stars — or minus 1000 — I would.
This is my first ever negative review because I usually give companies the benefit of the doubt, but dealing with Lightspeed has been beyond frustrating.
The cancellation process is worse than cancelling a gym membership. They will squeeze every single cent out of you. Their POS system is shockingly basic for the amount they charge, and the support completely disappears once onboarding is done.
I was paying for 5 terminals and cancelled one after closing part of my business. Despite removing the terminal, Lightspeed kept charging me for TWO more months because apparently you also have to remove open sales, close tills, AND manually remove the licence itself — otherwise they continue billing you. None of this was made clear.
Trying to get support is nearly impossible. You can’t talk to anyone properly, and when I finally complained, they suddenly offered to refund the charges — but ONLY if I stayed with them. Otherwise, no refund. They even offered me 50% off for 6 months after previously telling me “nothing could be done” about the extra charges. Funny how things suddenly become possible when you threaten to leave.
Then when I cancelled before the renewal date, they hit me with a “30-day notice policy.” Why on earth do I need to give notice to stop using your piece-of-junk software?
The whole experience feels designed to trap customers into paying longer than they should.
The irony is I have now built my own fully functioning POS system that costs me about $2 a month to run, while Lightspeed was charging me around $1000.
Beware: they are incredibly nice during onboarding and sales, but once you’re locked in, support and transparency disappear.
Would never recommend this company to anyone.

Concerns of online selling!
There are a could of things i am extremely disappointed in with Lightspeed but feel stuck. First and foremost, our customer service experience has been horrible to be quite honest. Getting in touch with our rep, or anyone for that matter, is almost impossible. I feel very unsupported in this category. Secondly, i feel as if Lightspeed is very behind the times as far as its compatibility for its R-Series customers to have extra online selling avenues whether that is with TikTok shop, Instagram Shop, Facebook Selling, or even online registry system. With the world going more online, Lightspeed is holding us back. Each year this renewal creeps up on us and we wish we would have been proactive in finding an alernative POS. I hate to be so negative but at the same time, this is genuinely how i feel.

Sales tactics are shady
Sales tactics are shady. They will say they can do anything you ask to get you to sign the contract. They will also say it’s easy to cancel and get a refund if they can’t. Then as soon as you sign and they can’t fulfill their promises they will blame everyone but themselves. “Too bad, you signed the contract. No refund for you.” I finally had to go around my salesman’s back to cancel. Luckily customer service was fine to work with. But it was worth it to eat the cost and get as far away from Lightspeed as possible. Big businesses screwing over small businesses. Be careful.

The worst of the worst when you are…
The worst of the worst when you are offering yourself the service very attentive, as soon as you are already working with them, a problem with the system happens and they never solve it, you ask them to send you a technician to fix the problem and they tell you that you have to pay him oh they send you a video of how you can solve it is a waste of time this system not only of time but also a lot of money I lost a lot money with this system my clients were uncomfortable when the system did not accept the payments lousy I do not recommend it at all
