have I lost all my pictures on lifecake???
I really hope I haven't, I had my children from born
Trouble Migrating - why do we need to???
Loved Lifecake and had no trouble switching between my four grandchildren. However my parents never could figure out how to use it. Now I'm trying to sign on to BackThen but it keeps saying my email account is a migrating account. So I loaded the app on my iPhone (and tried on my MacBook Pro), but it makes me open Lifecake first and then I can't figure out where to go from there. I just want to view my grandchildren's photos! Those of us that didn't post anything should not have to migrate anything. Same company or not, why can't you allow permitted people to simply log into BackThen to view photos?
Some misplaced hate here
As far as I understand, the change-over took place because they were dropped by their parent company, Canon. As such, I don't find it unreasonable that the subscription cost should rise, when they undoubtedly are working with fewer resources available.
All in all, it was a fantastic and intuitive app. Once we get past the migration hurdles, my family will continue to enjoy it as BackThen.
Very unhappy grandmother
Lifecake was a great source to go to see and Enjoy watching my grandson grow up but since the COVID-19 pandemic life cake decided to switch over which can cause confusion for some grandmothers and grandfathers that I aren’t Technical savvy just not a good time to be switching over.
Emotionally blackmailing loyal customers....
Such a shame this change over is happening. I used to love this app and it was great for my family across the world to view privately our children's progress and updates. Now, with very little notice, it's all closing and the only option we have is to double our subscription or lose everything. Yes, I do have all my original photos backed up elsewhere, but I used Lifecake to organise them and the stories on there are like a diary. This is outrageous and it is effectively emotional blackmail as I'm sure their client base are mostly parents. I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years. I'm gutted.
Scandal
They have now renamed the platform to a replica platform albeit with a different name with the obvious ability to export your memories across which charges you for the storage. They do offer a free storage space of 100GB however cleverly they have removed the delete option on Lifecake so you can’t reduce your storage space. Absolutely scandalous pulling on parents heart strings.
Shocking
Shocking. They have now changed the name to Back Then and increased cost by 100%.
Update
I have always LOVED this app (so am being fair by not doing a 1* review), however I completely agree with the below review. I have tried to follow the instructions to request a refund but there is no option to do so. I’ve now just had an email to say subscriptions will be cancelled on the 30th of June and a pro data refund issued. I moved to the new app on the 1st of May yet you’re not going to cancel it for 2 months so I’ll lose 2 months of the refund 🧐. I honestly can’t believe the timing of you doing this and it just screams money making scheme at a time when people are apart from their families and won’t see them anytime soon. The fact you gave less than a day’s notice yet your statement on Lifecake states that ‘it will be unaffected until the 30th of June’. Couldn’t be less true could it as you now can’t upload any photos, or even view your contact list once you’ve downloaded the new app. I’m now unable to add people to the new app without contacting them all individually first. I really think this could have waited as you’ve taken away people’s lifelines at a time they need them most. At the very least you should be rewarding loyal customers who have been with you for years.
Great until the last update in April
Great until the last update in April. Since then I can not upload photos directly from my favorite image gallery app. Before it was perfect, simply select photos and share to Lifecake. Why have you removed this way of uploading photos?? Please put is back.

Uh-oh (childs name) run out of space
I’ve been able to view my grandchildren’s photos that their parents have uploaded onto Lifecake for 3 years now and it’s also given me chance to upload photos of them that l have taken until now......l tried uploading one of my grandchildren’s photos and it says ‘Uh-oh (childs name) has run out of space. I tried uploading the older child’s photo and that was ok

You can't change an email address
Original 1-star comment: You can't change an email address. My email was discovered on the dark web and so I asked my daughter to change my email address so I could delete the email account that was exposed so I could protect my family. Guess what? YOU CAN'T! You must open a new account so now all my likes and comments over the years are no longer available to me. MAJOR DEAL BREAKER IMO! FIND SOMETHING ELSE!
UPDATE: 3 stars for lifecake as an app because the account holder can't make an email change to their invited members. However, I would give the lifecake support member that helped me 5 stars because it appears they resolved the issue and I am very thankful for that.

Fantastic!
I have been using Lifecake for nearly 5 years now. It’s a great way to share pictures with my family and I love the fact I can keep them on the app and they are safe! We are getting close to our storage limit and won’t hesitate to pay the yearly fee when we do!

Love it!
I get a ton of value out of the subscription - my family abroad just love it - and I've enjoyed the printed products.
Life-changing for parents with grandparents and family abroad!

Great app
Some of the negative comments here are just a result of people not knowing how the app works. My experience of this app is nothing but positive. I have had three years of sharing with our family precious photos and videos of our first son and, just recently, the addition of our second. All for free. We are soon to reach the storage limit and I won't hesitate to pay the upgrade fee. A small price for such a great platform and memories that will last forever.

Deleted photos
I have just tried to log on, I’m not being recognised and all my photos which I deleted off my phone of my 3 children and stored on this app have GONE absolutely devastated!

My family have been using Lifecake for some time and seeing regular photos is brilliant but please put a Translate option on the comments!!

Great App, but limited storage and expensive to upgrade
Great, simple to use and seamless app, but limited storage and very expensive to switch from free to paid account (£60 per year!).
