I absolutely do not recommend Lidl…

I absolutely do not recommend Lidl Connect.

I bought a prepaid SIM card expecting a simple and quick process, but the experience was the opposite. The activation process was extremely slow: it took 3 days for the SIM card to be activated, with no clear confirmation messages or information about what was happening.

During that time the system was confusing and unclear. After trying several times to activate the SIM card, I started receiving notifications about contracts and charges that I never requested or agreed to.

The most unbelievable part is that they are now trying to charge me 200 Swiss francs as a “cancellation fee” for a supposed contract that I never asked for. All of this for a prepaid SIM card that cost only a few francs and that I barely even used.

The activation system is poorly designed, the information is unclear, and they end up generating completely disproportionate charges.

⚠️ Be very careful before buying a SIM card here. If you are looking for something simple and transparent, I strongly recommend choosing another provider.

Excellent value and service since 2023

I’ve been a happy customer of Lidl Connect CH since 2023. The subscription offers an unbelievable price for calls across Europe, and the customer service has been very efficient whenever I needed support. The network (Salt) is decent, no major issues so far. Honestly, I can’t be disappointed. Great value for money!

My experience has so far been positive

My experience has so far been positive. I never really spoke to the customer service but I also never had an issue. It's true that the sim card activation is complicated. When I first activated my sim card, the program couldn't match my face to my passport. It did however offer a manual option for at which the post office worker could verify your person by asking to see your ID and give you the activation key. The post office personal had to be paid 20.- CHF for it but that was fair for their service. The phone provider didn't earn from that. The phone plan I chose had a special lifetime deal that beat their competitors. My phone bill only costed 9.95 CHF unless I did something stupid like calling overseas which was not included in my contract. I always pay my bills on time. The payment window period is relatively generous. I manage my phone package deal over the eportal, so I never speak with the customer service. It makes sense... if you cut out the customer service the bill becomes cheaper for the consumer. If you want good customer service, cheap providers aren't a thing for you.

I have been with Lidl-connect for two years now. The switch went relatively smoothly. I only went 4h without Internet when the switch from old to new provider happend on the promised date. I guess that is fair... it was an agreed date and not an agreed time of the day. It is not their fault that my old phone provider shut me off early in the morning while they started their service at noon. The internet is smooth and stable. If I run out of my usual limit, I can purchase more over the eportal. I never run out most of the time. The phone calls quality is ok. They at least didn't try to take my phonenumber and sell it to other people like my last provider did, so that is a green light at least. Lidl-connect has upheld their promise according to the contents our contract, so I am a happy and satisfied customer. The bills are always correct. In terms of function, Lidl-connect is reliable as long as you pay your bills on time. It is indeed recommended that you speak German well enough and read the fine prints in the contract... because you are practically your customer service and I love it.
