Buyers Beware

Buyers Beware - we had a brilliant buying experience but apalling customer service shortly after. We purchased a £3,500 bike from this shop through Bike2Work. It developed a fault on day 5.

Over the following weeks I contacted the shop repeatedly by phone and email. Communication was patchy, questions not fully answered, and there was limited proactivity. Delays in correcting the fault were attributed variously to couriers and building work at the shop, and on three separate occasions I was told the replacement part had arrived yet it was impossible to schedule a time to fix it. Many were offered but with 12-24 hrs notice only, and at weekends when plans were already set.

Throughout this period the owner remained pleasant and apparently helpful — but no actual progress was ever made, and the direct concerns I raised in my communications were never meaningfully addressed.

I eventually contacted the manufacturer (Estarli) directly. They arranged the repair promptly and professionally, sending out a driver to collect the bike.

I want to be clear: I am not writing this review out of frustration at a single bad experience. I am writing it because I read the other 1-star reviews here before posting, and the pattern is consistent — and so are the responses to those reviews. Polite, but never his fault....and never once did we receive a sincere apology or see a glimmer of humility. I think he still beleives he's done nothing wrong!

If you are considering a significant purchase from this shop, I would encourage you to read those reviews carefully and make your own judgement.

The bike is excellent. The manufacturer's support was excellent. The retail experience after something went wrong was definetly not excellent.

I had a truly shocking experience…

I had a truly shocking experience outside this shop over the weekend. While I was queuing at Daniele, the ice cream shop opposite, a man from Leftfield Bikes — who I later learned is called Guy Wheeler — picked up one of Daniele’s heavy metal queue barriers and placed it directly on top of my foot without warning. When I said “ouch,” he responded with “well move then,” while continuing to apply pressure instead of pausing to let me move safely.

It was painful, unnecessary, and completely avoidable — he could have simply said “excuse me.” His behaviour was rude and unacceptable. When I told the staff inside Daniele what had happened, they weren’t surprised; to my shock, they said this wasn’t the first time they’d heard of this person behaving in this way.

I would never consider buying anything from this shop after this experience. Please think twice before supporting a business that treats people like this.

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Ordered specialist kit for a Yuba through the cycle to work scheme in September 2024 and Guy was really helpful in identifying what was needed. The order (mostly) arrived after a delay.

When there was an issue with the mudguards, however, he went almost silent, telling me that the issue was with Yuba. After months of chasing Guy for updates, I lost patience and contacted Yuba who told me they had refunded him *three months ago*. I have given him until August to rectify the issue but I have little faith left that he will. I now have to get my money back from the Cycle to Work scheme and/or small claims court, which is going to be a hassle.

I was waiting for a friend outside of this shop and didn’t realise I was standing in front of the shop window. The owner could have asked me politely to stand to one side, but instead he came out and was very sarcastic and rude. I certainly wouldn’t contemplate buying a bike or any accessories from them.

Won't ship item. Won't answer phones.

Ordered £300 or so of items 3 weeks ago. Took a few days to get order confirmation. Here we are today, no shipment, multiple phonecalls over the past few weeks, multiple emails. Hasnt answered either.
Opening a paypal dispute.

Paid for accessories which didn't arrive

I ordered bike accessories via the cycle to work scheme early May. Almost 3 months later they had still not arrived, despite lots of holding messages saying that it would be here very soon. I am certain that Guy didn't actually order the accessories from the supplier in that time. Getting the money back from cycle to work was another big hassle and I regret the time and effort I've wasted here.

Avoid purchasing from this supplier

Avoid purchasing from this supplier. I ordered a bicycle via the cycle to work scheme and and never received the bike. He’s happy to blame a number of different individuals apart from his ability to procure a bike. It took a very long time to get this resolved. Please stay clear from this company and Guy Wheeler unless you want to loose money.

DO NOT BUT ANYTHING FROM THIS GUY

Ordered a bike through cycle to work scheme for £3,500. Got told I could have it in silver now or the orange (that I'd actually ordered) in a couple weeks. I opted to wait but it's now been 2 months and still nothing. He initially responded to chasers with a vague email about a customs issue but would not give us any actual details. I have asked to take the silver one that was available instead and this has not been acknowledged. In fact the seller has not responded to any phone calls or emails for weeks not and I get the impression he has no intention of engaging. We have asked to cancel the order but still no response. Don't really know what else to do. Trying to get money back through cycle to work scheme (as I have now been paying for the bike for 3 months) but this is not an easy process and I'm not in a position to order another bike elsewhere until this is resolved. It's an absolute shambles.

9 months on -item not arrived and no response to calls or emails. Ordered a rain cover for a cargo bike purchased elsewhere. I appreciate the industry is facing huge delays as my bike took almost a year to arrive. Unable to speak to anyone. -£300 down the drain

Steer clear of this company

Steer clear of this company, ordered a wiring harness for my bike.
Received two emails, one to confirm purchase and one about a week later to confirm order complete.
A few days later I still had not received my goods so tried phoning, three calls made, messages left, no reply.
Sent a couple of emails and finally got a reply saying there had been a mistake and my goods would be with me the following day, five days later, numerous calls and emails and still nothing.
Wish I’d read the other reviews before wasting my money, very disappointed.

Communication not the best, and difficult to get hold of

Ordered an accessory through the website. Didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks apart from an order confirmation email and an order complete email, and when I tried to phone my calls went unanswered.

Update: Eventually I got an email from the company and my order was confirmed, so I've got my fingers crossed it will arrive soon.

Knowledgeable team - beautiful bikes, well assembled and delivered in London.

A friend from our local nursery bought an electric Yuba Kombi E5 from Leftfield Bikes. My wife loves that bike and she encouraged me to buy it through our work's cyclescheme.

It arrived within 5-10 days, which was a pleasant surprise as we have heard of people waiting 6 months for bikes from other shops. I think now that the pandemic is coming to an end and we were buying outside of the usual peak season, we were very lucky.

Guy Wheeler, the founder delivered the bike himself. He's very knowledgeable about E-bikes and is a real advocate for all types of E-bikes.

E-mail is the best way to contact him. Leave your number and he will call back.

Thank you Guy for helping us get our kids to school in a swift and eco-friendly way! Our 8 year old and 3 year old love riding around on the bike and finally, my wife is comfortable cycling with the kids on board.

Dodgy seller

Placed an order for bike accessories and thought I would call to find out their returns policy should I have any issues once it arrives, I also called to check when it would arrive as it was taking a long time.

Seller was so rude and hung up the phone stating he did not want to sell it for it to be returned despite me telling him I have no intention to do so. He then cancelled my order and claims it to be because I want to modify the item (which i have every right to do if i've purchased it)! Neither did he send a cancellation email to let me know that its been cancelled so he's holding onto the payment Klarna made to him. SCUM AVOID. Have evidence in email to support this!

I've had to order from the US because of this tiny mans pettiness

Cycle Satiator - Leftfieldbikes

Very pleased with my customer experience. Placed an order for a cycle satiator battery charger through the website. Instant confirmation of order, great communication throughout and good solid advice about the product which was delivered in good time. Would certainly recommend to a friend.
