Mark is a great instructor

Mark is a very good instructor. He was able to help us learn several swimming techniques in our first two sessions. We are still taking sessions with him and we are loving it! Great job Mark!

engaging and enjoyable swimming lessons

I started taking swimming lessons with Mark for a month now. As a pure beginner, I was nervous about getting into the water, but Mark's patient and easily understandable teaching style quickly put me at ease. He explains every step clearly and prepares the equipment we need for the lessons. Mark is a very polite and encouraging person, always offering positive feedback to help me improve.

The swimming pool is clean and well-maintained. We have a private lane that allows us to focus completely without distractions.

I now feel confident in the water and look forward to continuing my swimming lessons with Mark. I would highly recommend Learn to Swim to anyone looking for a skilled and supportive swimming instructor.

Brilliant teaching

Mark is simply a brilliant teacher. He has been excellent at teaching me how to improve my swimming while making it very interesting — I never thought swimming could be that interesting! —and enjoyable. I came to him to learn how to properly swim freestyle and backstroke and I can already see significant improvements after only a few sessions. Would 100% recommend.

Great swimming coach

Mark is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient swimming coach. I have now had a few sessions, and each of them has been structured and paced very well. Training takes place at Fitness First near London Bridge. The pool has a dedicated lane for lessons, which is great during peak times. It is very easy to book a regular or a one-off session via the app.

‘Learn to Swim’ is a fantastic place for adults to learn how to swim or improve their swimming skills. The facilities there are great and the price is very reasonable!!

I highly recommend Mark as a swimming…

I highly recommend Mark as a swimming teacher. I swim regularly but never had any advice on my technique and Mark has taught me a lot about the basics and different concepts to help me improve. We cover a lot in each session, using a lot of props which really help. Mark takes videos which we review together and it is really valuable to be able to watch yourself. And finally Mark is a very friendly person, helping you relax and have fun!

Highly recommended

Mark is a very friendly and empathetic coach. He has a great way of breaking down and communicating swimming technique, and his sessions are very structured and targeted at specific areas for improvement that he identifies (at least for me). Highly recommended, no doubt.

Great swimming lessons

I’m a few lessons in to my swimming journey and after putting it off for years am making great progress.

Mark breaks down the steps in a simple concise way with a clear plan and goals from each session.

I already feel much more confident in the water and on my way to being a competent swimmer.

Good experience

I had around ten lessons with Mark. Mark is a passionate teacher and very methodical in his approach. He will look at your swimming from all angles and illustrate various aspects of the technique before helping you put it into practice. He is in the water with you a lot and follows up after lessons to remind you what you worked on. Although I wouldn’t say I have achieved all my swimming goals, Mark has taught me enough to work on in my own time. It helps he’s an all round nice guy!

Mark is simply fantastic!!!

Mark is simply fantastic!!!
He makes you feel comfortable in the water, regardless your starting point.
As an adult learner, I was a bit ashamed and scared to fail. After only few lessons, I can see some improvements. Mark explains very well all the swimming techniques with simple example difficult to forget. He is very patient and professional. Mark encorages and motivates you in every single lesson. If you want to learn how to swim, you won't find better teacher than Mark.

Couldn’t be happier with the progress I’m making

I have been taking lessons with Mark for a couple of months now. He has the perfect combination of technical swimming knowledge and the ability to translate and communicate that in the pool. As an adult learner I’ve been particularly grateful for his talent in identifying the adjustments I need to make in the water; always with creative and intuitive solutions to tackle each new challenge I face. Having had a few false starts with other teachers, I couldn’t be happier with the progress I’m making with Mark. Moreover, he is a terrific guy and the lessons are fun, nourishing and definitely a highlight of my week. Highly recommended!

Finally improving my Front Crawl with Learn to Swim

Currently really enjoying lessons with Mark to improve my front crawl and general ‘feel’ for the water. My general ability is pretty basic, short of breath after one length etc. (despite being a fit guy) but I have full confidence in big improvements by the end of the 10 lesson package I booked. I’m already seeing improvements just 3 lessons in.

Mark is very professional and also very personable, clearly born to teach. He’s hands on, in the water with me, setting fun tasks with various bits of kit and isolating different aspects for scrutiny. We study vids of my swimming and he makes helpful reference notes & visual aids. My understanding is that he works with ‘high-end’ serious swimmers down to beginners and everything in between. Indeed by massive coincidence it turned out that Mark had 5 years ago taught my own daughter (5yrs old at the time).

The 20m pool at Cottons Fitness First is very neat and kept at a very pleasant warm temperature, which is very welcome in these winter evenings (for general feeling, think Spa... rather than public leisure pool). It’s never too busy and I’ve had the lane to myself. For beginners it might be useful to know the pool is I believe 1m at shallow end and only 1.4m or so at the deep end. The Fitness First staff are great, very welcoming, friendly and professional.

Obviously I wholeheartedly recommend Mark for anyone wishing to learn or improve. I also think a full hour of one to one tuition at this level of quality represents excellent value for money.

I'm extremely happy!

I'm extremely happy that I chose Learn to Swim. I've been very anxious in the water, having a bad experience when I was younger. I've tried swimming lessons at my local leisure centre and did not get anything out of it. Chosing Learn to Swim was the best choice I've made, Mark is an incredible instructor who has made me comfortable in the water and taught me the mechanics of swimming. I'm feeling more confident in the water and happy I made the best choice.

Highly recommend

Mark has been great in helping me improve my techniques and understand the mechanics of swimming. Each lesson is productive and I end up applying his teachings in my solo swims.

Mark is a great teacher; friendly, witty and always filled with enthusiasm and precise with his observations, meaning there's a sense of progress with each lesson.

As for the facilities, the pool is clean and heated and lessons are in a dedicated lane, so no disruptions.

The app is pretty convenient to book lessons on so there's no hassle when it comes to picking a date/time at any time of the day.

Best swimming teacher!

Mark is an absolutely fantastic teacher who in just 5 lessons has already taught me so much and helped me become more confident in the water. I admittedly felt a bit embarrassed learning to swim as an adult at the start but a few lessons with Mark and those worries have disappeared, he is very patient, funny and makes you feel at ease during the lessons.

For anyone who has reservations like I did and wants to learn to swim I would definitely recommend Mark!
