Where the bullying activity feels at home…
I endured a severe and damaging experience of bullying and academic injustice during my time as a Ph.D. student in the Department of Genetics at the University of Leicester. Despite successfully passing my examinations, my Ph.D. was ultimately rejected without any formal justification.
The environment was hostile and deeply unprofessional. I was subjected to repeated verbal abuse, including degrading and vulgar comments directed at me by my supervisor, Dr. Flaviano Giorgini, and other senior academics (Prof Charalambos Kyriacou). I was called “potty,” “rubbish,” and other offensive names language completely unacceptable in any educational or professional setting, let alone from those tasked with guiding young researchers.
I have documented my case in full detail here (Google bullying at the university of Leicester)
I believe what I experienced was a violation of both academic standards and basic human decency. No student should have to suffer in silence or have their academic future arbitrarily destroyed due to the abuse or personal vendettas of those in power. I am sharing my story in the hope that it will bring awareness, accountability, and eventually change to protect others from similar harm.
