Hi Nicholas,

I'm sorry to hear of your experience. It sounds like you may have found what we refer to as "expired" deals. Latest Deals is a community platform where members of the public share deals and offers they've found for the benefit of other bargain hunters. This is usually great as it helps everyone unearth genuine discounts. Unfortunately a downside of this is that these deals can be short lived and quickly expire (run out of stock, price increase, etc). We do our very best to update deals as soon as this happens but rely (to some extent) on the community to report deals that are no longer active so that we can take them down. You can do this by tapping the three dots on the website or app and choosing to report the post. As an added bonus, we reward members who do this with points that can be converted into Amazon vouchers :)

We're always striving to improve how quickly we can update/expire deals and will continue to do so but hope that this added context better explains why you may occasionally find a deal listed at a price that is no longer available.

Many thanks,
Kelsey

Ignorant and don’t like any form of criticism! ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY NOW!

Seems like fame has gone to the head of this bunch!
Nearly every deal is geared towards them getting referral money.
They don’t answer queries, I’ve been messaging for over a month with no reply.
If it doesn’t earn them any dosh they’re not interested.
Shame on you! This used to be a great platform for finding deals but it’s turned into a little money making scheme for Deepak, Tom and his cronies.
SHAME ON YOU ALL!

Hi Roch,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, albeit difficult to hear your negative view of Latest Deals.

I’m really sorry you feel the way you do. We pride ourselves at Latest Deals in letting the community choose what’s good or not. And, whilst we do have sponsored posts (and have always been very transparent about those that are - with clear wording at the top of the deal’s description) and do earn commission from some posts (we’re very open about this and have a notice at the bottom of every page) we have never prevented a deal, voucher, competition or freebie being shared on the platform because it doesn’t earn us a commission. It’s a founding principle of Latest Deals and, as one of the co-founders, is one I’ve always ensured is enforced.

If you’d be open to sharing more detailed feedback explaining why you feel the way you do it would be really appreciated to see if we can address your concerns (whether that’s through additional context/explanation or changing how we do things). If you’d prefer to do that privately, please do email us using the contact form and ask for it to be forwarded to “Kelsey” to ensure I get your message. Similarly, if you could let me know your Latest Deals username I’d like to investigate why you’ve experienced unanswered emails.

Many thanks for your time,

Kelsey

Wording could've been better!

It's not a bad deal site and I enjoyed sharing some great stuff for a long time.

After a gap of several months, I wanted to share a deal on this site. I was excited just to be embarrassed and disappointed when my deal went into moderation soon after I posted it.

I can totally understand and support their initiative that they are aware and cautious about their site. The site stands ethically for not being used for promotion from different companies or sellers.

But the wording when my deal went to moderation, says, " We believe there's a chance that you may work for retailers".
There could have been a better sentence. I couldn't take the word and decided not to go back again.

Also, no response to the report/query and nothing.
Most of all more maximum deals are imported from Hotukdeals too.

Hi Lazaros,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm very sorry to hear you didn't like the wording of the automated moderation message.

It is a private message that only you receive (other members cannot see it) and we did our best to word it in a way to explain that the system and/or a member of the team had sufficient belief that the post might be self promotion (but may well not be!)

The automated message goes on to say "If we've got this wrong - sorry! Please reach out to us so that we can investigate. We're really sorry for the inconvenience but we have to be extra cautious with newer or less active members to try and protect the community and prevent spam." If you have any ideas as to how we could improve this further please let us know.

If you could please also share your Latest Deals username I'd be love the opportunity to investigate what's gone wrong with your report. We always aim to respond to every message.

Many thanks,

High RRPs give the illusion of a bargain

I have been a contributing member for over a year now. If I was looking for a bargain, I wouldn't use this site, its mainly a rehash of Amazon deals and some of the non-Amazon stuff off hotdealsuk; if fact, I don't think in all the time I've been using LD I have ever purchased anything via their site. Where as I have had a fair few deals off HDU. In the past, I have tried sharing some fantastic deals with LD, things that I myself have purchased, and have been more than satisfied with, only for them to be taken down for nitpicky reasons (i remember a 24kg kettlebell for £30inc p+p from BLKBOX, because mods didn't think it was a real company, apparently). Competions and freebies I posted would be in and out of moderation all day like playing tennis with no real explanation as to why. It even got to a point when I knew which moderator was online just by if my posts and comments were being deleted, bearing in mind that some of these posts/comments had already been through moderation and had satisfied whom ever had checked them. What is also irritating is a lot of this usually happens exactly halfway between milestone point scores, meaning if you want to walk away it will waste 25000 points. I have noticed that the moderator present on sundays especially enjoys removing my posts, comments, freebies, competions and coupons with no valid explanation, and almost military timing. It makes posting competions and freebies not worth the hassle of the constant "to and throu".
On the whole there are better bargain sites with genuine deals on them, this site is more of a "post anything with and a high rrp and a lower price next to it and call it a bargain" kind of site, or more accurately a shill for Mr Bezos.
In fact a lot of the time when I was looking for older deals to expire for points I would find a lot of them either even lower or still the same price and this is over two weeks later.
If you really work hard and max out on most of the tasks, you can earn the equiverlent of £1 a day, but there is always a chance of your posts being deleted and the potentual points being made no longer available.
On the whole I would recommend hotdealsuk.com for some of the best deals, I'm not sure what they are like to contribute for, but if I'm thinking of buying something, thats where I look first, mainly because they have the deals before LD who seem to get them a day later.
***it took writing this review before I got any reply to my countless email enquiries about the moderators, which I feel now is like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. They still offered very little explation, and I am left feeling that the less I engage with this site, the happier i'll be.***

Hey,

Thank you for taking the time to leave detailed feedback. It’s obviously disappointing to hear that your experience hasn’t been a positive one but we very much appreciate the effort in leaving a review as it helps us improve :)

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a difficult time with moderation decisions. Would you be willing to share your username? (if not publicly, then please contact us and ask for it to be forwarded to Kelsey re: Trustpilot). We do our utmost to try and consistently apply our guidelines but there’s, of course, always room for improvement! I would appreciate the chance to review any historic moderation decisions on your account to see if there’s anything we can do to improve going forwards.

Our aim is to always have the best, genuine deals on Latest Deals but we are, ultimately, a reflection of the community. What is voted high or low depends on the community consensus. If you ever see a deal cheaper elsewhere please do share it as a comment. This not only helps the original poster improve their deal hunting skills but also lets other members get a better bargain. We’ve also more recently introduced the ability to “dislike” a deal if you feel it doesn’t reflect good value.

Thanks for time as an LD member,

Kelsey

Update:

Hello again!

I just wanted to update my message in response to your recent edit.

I'm sorry you've felt it took a TrustPilot review to get a reply. We aim to reply to every email and so I would be very grateful if you could pass on your username and/or details so I can investigate what's gone wrong on this occasion. I appreciate I'm asking for extra steps and effort on your behalf, after you've had a disappointing experience, but it would be very much appreciated so we can hopefully resolve any outstanding issues and improve our processes going forwards. Thank you :)

Honestly there are pros and cons using…

Honestly there are pros and cons using this app and certain things to remember as a rule.

A lot of items are advertised at higher than normal price. With many products you can buy the product a lot cheaper elsewhere. Inflated RRP is very common on this app.

Most of the people posting products are recieving some form of commission (of sort) on the amount of products sold, hence it is in their best interest to make the product look and sound like a bargain. That's not always the case , often the product price is inflated.

You often find other users making positive comments like " I've just brought 4 " or " I needed one, fantastic price " it's all just hype on products but this tactic is merely helping to push up the commission sales for others.

Cheap Chinese products are often advertised which you can buy 80% less directly from China.

I recently saw 65W USB charger for £19.95 on latest deals , however Temu sell 65W USB charger 6 port for £5.79 with delivery.

On the other hand , at times you can get a bargain. Most of what Tom posts can be the better buys.

If you want to save : ignore all the sales comments and do your own research by searching Google for prices.

I've brought a couple of cheap items but it would be fair to say , I do at times find the product cheaper else where.

Hi David,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I appreciate your balanced feedback - it can (and I’m guilty of it myself) be very easy to decide something is either the worst thing in the world or the best so it’s refreshing to see something that isn’t a 1 star or 5 star! (Although, obviously we’re always working towards trying to achieve higher star ratings!)

Inflated RRPs are definitely a problem. At Latest Deals we’re somewhat at the mercy of what the retailer sets or lists as the RRP. If retailers are a bit naughty/deceptive it’s difficult for us to enforce and/or police this at scale. If you ever see an RRP on Latest Deals that’s higher than what is listed on the retailer’s website please do report this (we award points for doing so) as this isn’t allowed. More generally, we have considered alternatives to RRP - e.g. asking members to share the “Next Best Price” however we haven’t yet worked out a way to implement this in a consistent, accurate enough manner (it’s not necessarily an easy task to find the next best price).

Re: comments - if you see comments that you suspect are spam please let us know. We actively monitor (via both manual and automatic systems) for duplicate or “spam” accounts and remove them when found. As we reward members with points for commenting we do occasionally have some members who are, perhaps, a little keen with their comments and feel they need to embellish the truth. We reward points for all sorts of comments (whether they thank, criticise, question, etc) but it is an on-going challenge to persuade members that all their comments don’t need to be (potentially) blindly positive.

What floats to the top of Latest Deals is largely dependent on members’ likes and dislikes. If you know you can get a deal cheaper elsewhere please do leave a comment to let people know and, if you’d like, please share the cheaper deal yourself (and earn some points!)

Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback,

Kelsey

deal sites

Unfortunately like most deal sites, this one too seems to offer fake or out of date codes that do not benefit the user whatsoever.
why do they have the site at all? Well how else would they get your email address and bombard you with adds emails and more fake sites.
you’ve been warned.
watch out!

Hi Peter,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and sorry to hear you haven't got on with LD.

If it's helpful, I replied to your chat topic on LD where you left the same feedback, here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/discount-codes-5389 you can also see some of the other membes' comments on the topic which I hope provides further reassurance and support to my words below.

The vast majority of content on Latest Deals has been shared by other members. Regular (well, pretty great actually!) members of the public that share the deals and discount codes they find for the benefit of the community.

Unfortunately these deals and discounts do expire and/or run out (often very quickly!). We do our best to keep on top of this. We encourage members to report no longer working deals (and reward members with points that can be converted into Amazon vouchers for doing so). We also have several systems in place where we review and expire older content ourselves.

All that said - we can of course continue to improve and increase the speed and accuracy in which we remove no longer working content. It's something we're always working on as we appreciate how frustrating it can be to find an exciting, good offer only to find it's no longer available.

I just wanted to reassure you that the deals aren't "fake" - they are, as you suggest, just out of date.

We do encourage members to sign up as part of the Latest Deals community and this does opt you into receiving our email newsletter. However, you can choose to unsubscribe from your settings straightaway and at the bottom of every email that is sent. We don't share/sell your email address to anyone else.

I hope that provides you with some context about how Latest Deals works and why it is the way it is. And also gives you some reassurance about our intent and motives. We've always tried to be very transparent about how Latest Deals makes money (it's at the bottom of every page of the website).

Please do jump back into the chat topic you created on LD if you have any further feedback or comments. I'm always very happy to help/reply if I can :)

We love Tom!

Although a technophobe, I actually like receiving my daily 'Toms Deals' e-mail. The information contained in it and the quick links are always up to date and more importantly work, and I have managed to get some spectacular deals which I wouldnt have known about from anywhere else. Love the daily dose of humour as well. Thanks Tom for putting together something wonderful all the while maintaining a human edge to it all.

Logged in and proceeded to post a deal.

Logged in and proceeded to post a deal.

I suddenly get an alert that my account is blocked due to "suspicious activity"... what... logging in with the correct password like I always have??

"Now we NEED your phone number to confirm it's you"

Seems like a very VERY suspicious way to extort phone numbers from people to me. Do you think I was born yesterday?

I don't have to post deals on your website, I do it out of a sense of community for others.

Then the deal I posted gets denied because they can't verify the seller as genuine... what, on the item with 1,500+ 94% positive reviews been sold for a number of years? Then I suggest you find a new job because you're not very good at this one.

I don't have to post deals on your site, I get absolutely nothing from it, and I don't want to give you my phone number. Do you get that!

I use my own time to go out of my way for no return, then don't ******* HARASS me.

Account deleted, useless ****-witts.

Good luck with your own "SUSPICIOUS" practice.

** EDIT **
I don't buy it. I logged in with my usual IP address which I've had for a long time, and at the end of the day the only option offered to me was phone number.

It's obviously a cynical attempt to pressure people to register their phone number, there was no "suspicious" activity.

If that's the reputation you want, that's your look out. Good. Luck.

"" EDIT 2 ""
Also, nice try trying to get this review removed. You people. Disgusting.

** EDIT 3 **
- If the account was hacked, and I were the hacker, I would have just entered my illegitimate phone number, hence, it's not a legitimate security check.

- My email could have been used as 2FA - which most other websites use - my email address is the same as it was when I created the account. You never gave this option. RED FLAG!

- This is IMO, a decision by management to force all members to part with their phone numbers. Tell me I'm wrong.

- I came to your site originally from 'the other site' due to their contempt for members. If you also treat your members like farm animal flesh-bots, then what would be the point in your existence? I can have that experience already!

- Add to that, I could never really make use of your site anyway because you don't allow keyword alerts on your web browser portal, and I don't want to install the app, so... overall, just a TERRIBLE user experience.

- Oh, and knock the deal back as soon as you have the link and scrape it; you might rub people up the wrong way if they take time to write out a description only for you to then bin it.

Hi Peter,

I'm sorry to hear of your frustrating experience.

We have automated systems in place to try and protect members' accounts and prevent them from being taken over. Unfortunately there are people who try and take over accounts to access point balances or promote their own products.

I can understand the hesitancy in providing a telephone number. Whilst I assure you we only use it for verification (and only store a one-way encrypted version of it - i.e. we can never see or recover your telephone number) I understand that some people may be skeptical of this. I would personally much rather we didn't need these security measures but unfortunately it is a necessary evil at the moment.

We very much appreciate every member of our community for contributing to Latest Deals and take pride in being the first deals community to give back to members via our points system. However, we do recognise that it is the members that make Latest Deals and so I hope that this explanation and apology may make you reconsider your status as an LD member.

If you are willing please email us with your username to team@latestdeals.co.uk (and ask for your message to be forwarded to Kelsey) and I'll see what I can do about getting your account recovered via alternative means.

Many thanks,
Kelsey

Updated to respond to recent edits:

Hi Peter, I'm sorry to hear we couldn't convince you that our security checks are legitimate and that you didn't want to take me up on the offer of reviewing your account. With regard to trying to get the review removed - we did indeed report a very small number of specific parts of your original review (with the intent of only those parts being redacted). Whilst we encourage Latest Deals members to share their honest feedback we felt parts of your review had gone a little too far and where casting unfounded aspersions and making factually inaccurate claims. I hope you understand that we have to protect Latest Deals reputation against such claims and that, in this instance, TrustPilot agreed with our report. I'm sorry we haven't been able to resolve this in a more amicable fashion but wish you all the best with your future bargain hunting endeavours.
