KUBWA5 Safari Holiday Review
We booked our honeymoon safari in Uganda and Tanzania with KUBWA5 this year, visiting several parks over just under two weeks. Overall, our experience was excellent, though this was our first safari so we have no direct comparison.
Value for Money – 4.5/5
KUBWA5 offered very good value compared to other operators, though we had to make some adjustments due to booking and itinerary mistakes. Once the trip started, everything ran smoothly and logistics were excellent, so we still rate value for money highly.
We docked half a point for the booking and planning errors that required extra attention on our part, but the trip itself was seamless.
Booking – 2.5/5
The booking process was the main low point. After paying a deposit, KUBWA5 realised they had underquoted by $12,000 USD, which led to changes in dates and hotels to keep within budget. Double-check all pricing before paying.
Planning – 2.5/5
KUBWA5 were flexible and responsive during planning, sending detailed itineraries and budgets. However, some mistakes in scheduling meant changes to flights and extra costs. Review the itinerary and travel times carefully.
Logistics – 5/5
Once we arrived, logistics were flawless. Transfers were on time and well coordinated, with thoughtful touches for our honeymoon.
Hotel Selection – 4/5
Hotels ranged from luxury to mid-range, with some mid-range lodges below expectations. Staff in both countries were excellent and added details for our honeymoon. Bring local currency for tips.
Guides – 5/5
The guides, Charles in Uganda and Bakari in Tanzania, were the highlight. Both were knowledgeable, safe, and ensured we saw all the animals we hoped for, making our trip truly memorable.
Vehicles – 4.5/5
We had comfortable, well-maintained vehicles for our private tour, with fresh drinks and charging ports. No mechanical issues; air conditioning was uncertain but not needed.
Wildlife & Parks – 6/5
The wildlife was outstanding, thanks to our guides. We saw the Big Five, enjoyed gorilla trekking in Uganda, and witnessed big cats hunting in Tanzania. Serengeti was ideal for classic safari experiences, while Uganda offered unique gorilla and chimpanzee encounters and boat safaris on the Nile.
Food – 4/5
Food was good overall, varying by hotel. Most lodges served international cuisine and local dishes, and meals were often packed for game drives.
Safety – 5/5
We always felt safe, both with wildlife and general security. Guides were attentive, and lodges sometimes escorted guests at night to protect from animals.
Final Thoughts
Our honeymoon safari with KUBWA5 was amazing. We recommend them, but advise careful attention to booking and planning, especially pricing and itineraries. Once the trip began, everything ran smoothly and the guides made it truly unforgettable.

Our drivers and guides, Erik in Kenya and Mustafa in Uganda, went above and beyond to show us as many animals as possible. Both were proactive, knowledgeable, and incredibly warm, which made us feel safe, comfortable, and welcome at all times.

The trip itself did not disappoint. Communication with the company via WhatsApp was excellent—quick, clear, and reassuring—so we always felt well taken care of throughout the journey.

We had an incredible experience with Kubwa Five Safaris from start to finish. Our multi-country itinerary through Kenya and Uganda was complex, yet everything ran smoothly thanks to their excellent planning, attention to detail, and responsive communication throughout the trip.

The accommodations were eco-friendly but comfortable, the food consistently delicious, and our guides knowledgeable and personable. We especially appreciated how easily we could reach the Kubwa Five team on WhatsApp and their quick responses made the entire experience feel safe and well-supported.

There were a few small bumps along the way, as can happen on a long safari, but nothing that took away from the overall experience. The only real suggestion we’d make to future travelers would be to skip the Maasai “cultural event” stop, which felt more like a tourist cash grab than an authentic experience. In contrast, the Ugandan cultural visits, were absolutely wonderful, heartfelt, and meaningful.

Overall, Kubwa Five Safaris offered fantastic value, excellent organization, and warm personal service. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone planning a safari in East Africa.

We booked our 16 day East African Safari with Kubwa 5 (after much research, study & negotiations with several safari companies. Kubwa worked with us to trailer the experience exactly to our liking & specifications, even adjusting several times before we found the ‘sweet spot’ that ticked all the boxes of what we wished for.
The 1st eleven days was a private tour to several areas & countries with one guide (Samuel) who became family to us. Then we flew to Kenya & spent 3 nights/ 4 days in Masai Mara conservatory with a traditional Maasai guide Edward (Loinyio) & his assistant Joseph (Pesi).
The whole experience was truly life changing. The wildlife were all happy to greet us, but the guides made the difference!
We highly recommend Kubwa 5 & would definitely book with them again.

We booked a 17days Safari through Uganda and Rwanda with Kubwa Five Safaris and it was absolutely amazing. The planning of the tour was perfect, we could decide between diverse activities and the communication with the team was very easy, intermediate and on point.
Our guide Samuel was the best guide you can imagine. He was very flexible, took care of us very well and showed us the best spots to watch animals. We learned so much about birds, mammels, primates, reptiles etc. Also he was a very skilled driver and we felt save all the time.
Beside the beautiful National Parks, we also visited several communities and spent a great time with local people and got a lot of authentic insides.
It was definitly one the best journeys we‘ve ever had. We fell in love with this countries and made new friends.
It was mindblowing and we‘re sure we‘ll come back.

Our tour guides, Eric and Gift, were truly professional and knowledgeable, making the entire journey smooth and enjoyable. We were lucky to witness the Big Five, the breathtaking wildebeest river crossing, a leopard in the wild, and even a lion resting on a tree. It was touching, thrilling, and deeply inspiring to experience nature so closely. I genuinely enjoyed every moment and highly recommend Kubwa 5 Safari for anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure!

We decided on the 19 day Kubwa five safari of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania in July 2025 because of their great reviews, they operate in multiple countries, and are a Uganda owned company. I was told you pay more if you use a travel agent. I’ve been to Southern Africa and Tsavo west in Kenya before, but this was by far my best experience. In Uganda we met the friendliest people with smiles on their faces. I’m 70, so comfort was important and we chose the top end hotel option. Most were very good, with some better than others. I found Wise the best low cost way to transfer payment.

Highlights of Uganda included Murchison Falls, Chimpanzees in Kibale, Gorillas in the Bwindi impenetrable forest. The Batwa cultural tour and orphanage visit moved us. Our Uganda guide, Mustafa has been driving for 8 years which is important as some of the roads can be bumpy with no signs. Mustafa was outstanding, going out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our trip. He found tree climbing lions in Murchison Falls and shoebill storks on the last day driving back to Entebbe.

In Kenya we saw an abundance of wildlife on the boat ride at Lake Naivasha staying at one of the best hotels, SOPA. The balloon ride in Maasai Mara was another memorable experience worth doing. We were apprehensive at first. Once floating gently above, we saw herds of wildebeest and zebra, along with lions with their kill. The cultural visit to the Maasai Mara was disappointing as they asked for money for everything although we got a taste as to how they live. I bought a lot of souvenirs to be shipped to Australia and could have used some advice on how to bargain.

It was a long bumpy ride from Kenya to Tanzania where we got a new driver. We tried twice unsuccessfully to see the wildebeest crossing the Mara river at the Maasai Mara and northern Serengeti. I convinced my wife to go on the early morning drive in the northern Serengeti where there are fewer safari vehicles. We were rewarded with an incredible experience, herds of Wildabeest crossing the crocodile infested Mara river. Our driver got us in a great position for taking photos.

Not once did we feel in danger from animals or people. We hardly had any insect bites, perhaps because it was the dry season. We were put in the group of gorillas not requiring a long hike and it only took 5 minutes to spot them. If you love nature, wildlife, and meeting people of different cultures and have an adventurous spirit, Kubwa five is for you.

Our tour of Namibia, July 9-23, 2025; Kubwa Five Safari
We made a whirlwind tour of Namibia beginning in Windhoek. Our 2nd night was in the Kalahari desert where we went on an evening game drive and a sundowner with wonderful views over the acacia savannah. We then drove to Le Mirage in the Namibian desert for 2 nights including an incredible hot-air balloon ride over the desert. From there we drove to the coast for a boating tour of Walvis Bay and about 400,000 southern fur seals, and 100,000 Cape Cormorants. The afternoon was spent on a hair-raising tour of the dunes south of Walvis Bay in SUVs driven by skilled dune drivers. The next day we drove to Fwyfelfontain in the interior famed for extensive San petroglyphs and rock etchings, and on an evening game drive we found a herd of desert elephants that we followed to a waterhole. We visited a Damara community museum where we learned about customs of the Damara people and were treated to a community dance. From there we drove to Opuwo where we visited a Himba village where an interpreter helped us to communicate with Himba women. Our next night was at Epupa Falls on the Kunene River, Angola border. Our guide took us to the edge of the falls which was quite spectacular, and again a sundowner overlooking the falls. Then we returned via Opuwo to Hobatere Lodge on the western boundary of Ethosha National Park where we observed several lions at a waterhole adjacent to camp. We spent one night inside the park at Halali and observed black rhinos visiting a waterhole at night. Three days in Etosha were stunning with many waterhole visits with vast herds of wildlife including elephants, zebras, giraffes, kudu, lion, black and blue wildebeest, ostrich, and of course, thousands of springbok. Our last night was outside the Park in a wonderful Mushara bushcamp, our favourite accommodations of the entire trip. From there we spent a day at the Cheetah Conservation Fund property where we met with students and researchers at their excellent research facility. Our final night was at the spectacular Mt Etjo Safari Lodge where we tracked white rhinos on foot and encountered vast herds of wildlife including lions. Our tracking guide was brilliant.
Our guide, John, was a superb birder and naturalist. He made the trip truly rewarding.

Kubwa5 truly delivered a thrilling Safari of a lifetime! The Safari was everything we had every dreamed of as this had been a bucket list adventure trip we had wanted to take for many years. Kubwa5 was amazing to work with as I had so many questions before I ever booked the Safari and they answered every question in great detail. They were so professional and easy to work with from start to finish, I cannot say enough wonderful things about the company and highly recommend them. Our tour guides in Kenya and Tanzania, Tony and Alfa, were both so awesome and they truly made the trip even more special than we ever imagined it would be. Both guides took the time to position the vehicle for optimal viewing experience of the animals and were always checking in with us to make sure everything was okay. Both guides made the Safari even more special than we could have ever hoped for. The lodges, hotels and tented camps we stayed at were each different and unique and we absolutely loved every placed we stayed and the food was excellent. The tented camps are a must to experience while on Safari and they are well appointed and have everything you could possibly need. Although we wanted to experience all the animals in Kenya and Tanzania, for us it was not just about the animals as we wanted to experience the culture of both countries, everyone was so accommodating and made us feel at home. This Safari adventure allowed us to become a part of the African story and it will always be a part of us.

We had high expectations and Kubwa Five exceeded them all! We had them plan the entire itinerary, since we’d never been to Africa before. They selected the lodges, guides, and which parks we would see- all were fantastic! We saw many animals, even some that surprised our guides (caracol cat and a Pels fishing owl) In Botswana we did land and water tours in the Okavango Delta, Khwai and Chobe River. In Tanzania, we spent time in Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Tarangire. All the lodges were great, food was delicious and plentiful, but the guides made it spectacular. Their knowledge of the locales and animal behaviors were key to seeing the wide variety that we did. Kubwa kept in touch with us during the trip making sure everything went well and keeping us informed of any changes. We are heading back again next year and will definitely use Kubwa Five again.

We just returned from two weeks of game drives, first week in Botswana, second in Tanzania. We selected Kubwa Five Safaris to organize everything and it was an extraordinary experience. Great communication prior to the trip-and I had tons of questions, to check-ins during the trip making sure everything was going well. The accommodations they arranged were amazing, and all of the guides were stellar. We got our Big Five and plenty more. Kubwa arranged all of flights within the countries, and the flights between the two, as well.
In Botswana we enjoyed game drives in the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Preserve and Chobe Nat’l Park. In Tanzania we searched The Ngorongo Crater, Serengeti and Tarangire.
Our guides did an incredible job locating the animals and with their knowledge of their behaviors, we saw many big cats!!

Our trip to Africa with Kubwa 5 was more than perfect and exceptional. If you are looking for and efficient, and well organized trip which can adapt to what you need don't look for anybody else, just talk to Kubwa 5.
We went to Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. It included gorilla, chimpanzee and rhino trekking. It included sunrises and sunsets and the best tour guides that will explain to you how the animals behave and what you want to know about them. We found tons of elephants, giraffes, hippos and of course lions and their cubs. The trip was excellent on timing, great food at great hotels and it was mindblowing when finding and connecting with animals. We were able to even see 3 lions eating a wildebeast, cubs and their mother lion protecting them and even to see how they hunt. Also, about 70 elephants drinking from the Nile river with hippos surrounding them, we saw eagles, ibis and all sorts of birds. We were able to walk with zebras, giraffes, antilopes and wildebeasts in safe environments. And at the end, what made our trip the absolute best for our lifetime is that our expectations were exceeded in all senses. About 9000 photos in around 21 days will help us remember emotional moments and full connection between us and the animals

We booked three tours with Kubwa Five Safari for our Africa trip, covering six countries: Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Ethiopia. They designed customized itineraries based on our preferences and time constraints, adjusting them based on our feedback.

The team leader, Joseph, and his team at Kubwa Five Safari consistently answered our questions, addressed our concerns, and ensured the program maintained a comfortable pace for each activity. As experienced tour operators, they considered all logistical details, double-checked our flight information, reassured us about visa requirements, reminded us to bring bug repellent and take required immunizations, and advised us on proper attire for the trip.

When one of our flights was delayed, I informed Joseph. He promptly coordinated with the local team to reschedule our activities, ensuring we didn’t miss the helicopter ride over Victoria Falls in Zambia.

During each tour, their representatives met us at every connection, airport, and border, making us feel safe and well-cared-for throughout our journey. Joseph also followed up with us in each town we visited, ensuring we were satisfied with the program and our guide. Our tour guides, Samuel in Uganda and Fikru in Ethiopia went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience in their home countries. Samuel would rearrange activities or adjust the schedule to ensure we had enough time to enjoy the game drives and visit local villages. Fikru invited us to his home, where his wife prepared a delicious traditional Ethiopian lunch. She also made coffee from raw beans, roasted them over charcoal, ground them, and then brewed the coffee. It was tasty, and we all agreed it was the best coffee ever.

They were very knowledgeable about game drives, local culture, and history. Because of them, we gained invaluable experiences that will stay with us forever.

We had a fantastic month in Africa, and I highly recommend Kubwa Five Safari.

Fantastic Experience (No, Really, It Was Actually Fantastic!)

We're not kidding, folks! Everything went off without a hitch, and we're still grinning from ear to ear. John, our trusty guide, showed up on time (miracles do happen!), and was like a walking encyclopedia of awesomeness. He shared his life stories, and we were riveted (who needs Netflix when you have John?!). He was very knowledgeable about animals and birds in all the national parks we visited.

The trip was so smooth, we are pretty sure we heard angels singing in the background. And the best part? No meltdowns, no lost luggage, no "I forgot my passport" moments (okay, maybe just one, but John had a spare... just kidding!).

All joking aside, we can't recommend this experience enough. It was the real deal, and we are already planning our next adventure with Kubwa Five Safaris. If you want a trip that's actually fantastic, look no further!
