Nothing as Promised!!!

The car I reserved at Lisbon was not available so they "upgraded" me to another vechicle. Upgrade, no! The car was scratched up, no third gear, standard shift, so I had to drive it for a month shifting from 2nd to fourth! Ridiculous! No power going up hill and the wrench icon came on an off every other day during the month I had the car. No offer for the inconvenices and 1 hour of choas to pick up and over an hour of chaos to return it. Worst car rental experience of my life.

Worst ever rent a car company

I was on a quick visit to Lisbon and booked a car from Klass Wagen. While i was given the keys of the car the dashbaord had lights on for Service engine soon and Oil change. I refused to accept the car but i was told that this is not a risk. The car had lot of scratches with a accidental damage to the Rim guard of the rear tyre. I asked to change the car as there are many scaratches all over the car. I was told that this is the only car available currently else i would have to wait for couple of hours if i would opt for a replacement. I was asked to account for all damages of their own like an underwriter and have to substantiate any thing new or i missed to record and pay for those scratches. I was in a hurry for a meeting and had to accept the car. They don't care of lights on dashboard would risk customer life. As expected they picked up a 6mm scratch on the car at the time of return and charged Euro1300 on my card and said it was my fault that i didn't notice it during hand over of the car.

Please note that all vehicles are checked prior to delivery, and any existing damages are recorded in the vehicle’s condition report. Customers are advised to carefully review this report and document the vehicle at pick-up to avoid any misunderstandings at the end of the rental.

Regarding your concerns about the vehicle, our team should always offer assistance if a customer is not satisfied with the assigned car, including the possibility of a replacement depending on availability. We regret if the situation caused inconvenience due to time constraints.

As for the charge applied, this was based on damages identified at return that were not present in the initial report. In line with the rental agreement, and in the absence of corresponding evidence at pick-up, such damages are considered the responsibility of the renter.

We understand your concerns and regret if any part of the process was perceived as unsatisfactory. Your feedback has been shared internally for further review.

Appalling service – Scams and shady practices in Bucharest

A truly indecent service. I picked up a car at 10:30 PM in Bucharest, booked through Booking.com with full insurance. Upon arrival, they demanded a €2,300 deposit, which we paid. The clerk showed us the car—a Renault Captur instead of the VW Golf we reserved—claiming no manuals were left. The car was parked in a pitch-black lot. Even though I tried to record a video, it was impossible to see all the pre-existing damage in the dark.

Once on the road, I noticed a huge crack in the front windshield. After three days of use, I returned it to Bucharest, and that’s when the nightmares began. First, they complained the car was 'dirty' (it had been raining) and threatened to deduct cleaning fees from my deposit. I had to go find a car wash and pay €20 just to bring it back.

Then, they started 'finding' microscopic defects: a scratch on the rear window and two 3mm marks on the door frame that were invisible to the naked eye—especially to someone who received the car in total darkness. It was blatant dishonesty. They knew those marks were there because the car was delivered DIRTY and at night.

In the end, they returned my deposit, but only after a very stressful confrontation. These people are unscrupulous; they try to 'bill' customers for pre-existing wear and tear just to make extra cash. Booking.com is also to blame for partnering with these low-cost predators who treat customers like 'prey.'

BEWARE: What seems cheap can end up being very expensive. My advice: allow plenty of extra time when returning the car and, if they try this with you, do not hesitate to call the police and file a formal report. Unethical and shameful.

Regarding the vehicle category, please note that in line with our terms and conditions, when the reserved car class is not available, a free upgrade is offered. In your case, you received such an upgrade to a newer vehicle with low mileage.

Upon your arrival at our office to collect the vehicle, our team, following the standard procedure, presented the two available options for vehicle handover:

Security Deposit Option – The standard option, where the security deposit specified in the booking voucher is blocked on the main driver’s Visa or Mastercard credit card. Under this option, the main driver assumes full responsibility for the vehicle and any potential damages.

Klass Total Cover (Local Insurance) – An optional service that reduces the customer’s financial liability and requires only a smaller administrative deposit.

After receiving all the necessary information, the customer is free to choose the option that best suits their needs.

We would also like to clarify that any insurance purchased through a booking partner is a third-party product. This type of coverage is intended to reimburse you in the event that part or all of the security deposit is charged due to damage or loss. However, it does not replace the requirement to provide a security deposit or to opt for our local Klass Total Cover. These are separate services, each with their own terms and conditions.

At the time of vehicle collection, a damage report is provided outlining the vehicle’s existing condition. Upon return, the vehicle is inspected again and an updated report is issued if necessary. In order to accurately identify any new damages, the vehicle must be cleaned prior to inspection.

If additional damages are identified compared to the initial report, the corresponding amount may be retained from the deposit. In such cases, the file is forwarded to our Damage Department for review and processing. You will be contacted directly with further details, and within up to 30 days you will receive the corresponding invoice along with supporting documentation.

However, in your specific case, please note that the security deposit was fully released.

Please be assured that all procedures are carried out in accordance with our internal policies and applicable legislation.

The Usual Suspects. Fraudulent case raised.

The usual.
Claiming for damage that did not exist.
Fraudulent and possibly illegal actions from staff.

Update after Klass Wagen response,:

Your words and explanations are worthless.
You are nothing other than a bandit organisation.
YOU are required by Contract to prove that the fictional damage was caused by the renter, something you cannot do because you are fully aware of your fraudulent operation.

First of all, with the deposit option, all the damages that exists are written on the Damage Document of the car that you receive when you pick up the car.
Also, we encourage our clients to take videos/pictures of the car from the moment of the pick up.
To continue, we do not add damages that doesn't exist, we are just following our procedures in case any new damages appears during the reservation.

Do not rent a car with them. The treatment and the conditions are the worse we have seen ever.

Our experience in Klass Wagen was absolutely awful. First of all we spend more than one hour and a half (at 10.00 pm) waiting for someone to pick us up (after several calls that nobody answered) and to take us to the rental car in Otopeni airport. Once we arrived the Rental Car, the person who attended us practically forced us to take the FULL insurance (for a total of almost 300 € for a week). He was forcing us with arguments like if we had any problems we should go to the police; we should return the car complete clean or that we had to leave a deposit on our credit car of 2200 € (which is absolutely crazy compared to ANY OTHER RENTAL CAR IN THE WORLD). Moreover, finally they charged us with the IVA (25 more €) without telling us.

We are sorry to hear about the situation, but we will explain.
First of all, to order a shuttle from us, you have two options:
1. Call our phone number;
2. Complete the link for the shuttle service.
It takes maximum 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive to the airport, but besides that the shuttle comes regular to the airport for the clients.
To continue, we do not force our clients to take the insurance from us, but it's our duty to present both of our options. Further, it's your decision which one you would like to choose.
Regarding the 25 euro, it is not something that we can control, this cost being commissions or any fees applied by the make.
All these information can be found on our T&C on our website klasswagen.com.
