Stay away from Kibbutz Ein Gev
Like the other person said. Volunteering is great and overall you are very likely to say you had a positive experience after being on a Kibbutz, you just need to know that if there are any problems, any injustices, there is no one there to help you. My own experience turned out to be a complete scam and I want to share it so others can be warned.
The holidays I had worked and saved for all year was suddenly declared invalid. This wasn't a mistake, the holidays had been approved weeks beforehand with the coordinator and the decision was deliberately sprung on me only as I was on my way to the airport to fly home.
The volunteer coordinator at Kibbutz Ein Gev is self-centred and prioritises bringing in money from volunteers and her reputation within the kibbutz. I was blamed for their theft because I was told it was my responsibility to coordinate a final meeting with ‘the volunteer coordinator’ before I left—something that had never been communicated to me. Without a meeting, she claimed there wasn't enough time to discuss the money the Kibbutz still owed me, leading to 'complications'
Seeing this now advantageous position she was in, the coordinator conveniently claimed that due to some unauthorized absences (being ill), the amount of holidays I had were incorrect. This was an outright lie to reduce my final payment to which then KPC stole £90 from me.
I contacted Mor from KPC to voice my complaints. She was professional but blatantly biased. My reasonings were ignored and she was clearly happy with the extra income for the Kibbutz.
I heard many other problems with this coordinator from other volunteers during my time there, but my own experience is enough to make a simple statement: Stay away from Kibbutz Ein Gev.
