I honKeep Away — Constant Bugs and Frustrating Updatesestly regret switching to…

I honestly regret switching to KeePassXC. The software is an absolute pain to deal with. Every time there’s a new update, the stability seems to get worse rather than better. At the same time, opting out of updates doesn’t feel like a real option because you’re basically forced to choose between a buggy experience and potential security vulnerabilities.

The Chrome extension is especially frustrating — it’s notoriously buggy and often fails to detect even simple username fields. In the best-case scenario, you end up having to manually copy the username and then the password separately, which is highly inconvenient. And to make things worse, sometimes even the copy function itself doesn’t work, seemingly for “security” reasons.

Overall, what should be a smooth and reliable password management experience turns into a constant struggle. Very disappointing.

Libre Source. Strong security. Loaded with features. Auto lock session too short at 12 hours.

What made my experience great:

• Libre Source (Open Source)

• Attractive GNU General Public License. Either version 2 or 3.

• Encrypt my database

• Protect my database with offline keyfile or other methods

• Edit revisions. Which I can quickly and easy restored.

What made my experience unpleasant:

• 12 hours session automated lock is too short for my needs. By "automated lock" I mean that if I do not use KeePassXC for more than 12 hours, then KeePassXC automatically lock my database. I am assuming this is done for security prevention, if a database is protected with a password, this database automatically locks after around 12 hours (43,200 seconds) session. Then to unlock it, I needed to re-enter my database password. And so on every 12 hours. This is unpleasant for me before I need an automated lock after 48 or 72 hours. But, unfortunately, presently KeePassXC does not allow more than 12 hours.

Most secure password manager

KeePassXC is the most secure and reliable password manager I’ve used so far. It requires a bit more effort compared to a cloud-based manager, but once you get used to how it works, you’ll likely prefer it over most other options. Its most important feature, however, is its security. KeePassXC uses AES 256-bit encryption, is open source, has undergone audits, and doesn’t connect to your network unless explicitly permitted.

Perfection

Secure, audited software, supported on a large number of platforms, without unnecessary bells and whistles. And best of all it's absolutely free and open source.
