Hired a car at Seville and returned…

Hired a car at Seville and returned back to Malaga airport
Basically I was charged over 300 pounds with no explanation what the charge was for
Booking was via booking.com who were also awful to deal with who claimed keddy wouldn't talk to them
Remember to keep all paperwork and only pay by credit card and to challenge the payment if it doesn't look right
These are a bunch of complete scammers who overcharge for upgrades or hang on to deposits with no explanation
Thankfully my credit card company believed my account and wouldn't give any explanation to why I had been charged over 300 pounds
Do not book with this company

The small Lancia had 50,000 miles on the clock.
When driving in Croatia a tyre burst.
I phoned Europcar Croatia and they said get it repaired and they would refund us.
At the tyre place they found that due to faulty tracking both front tyres were worn down to the webbing and needed replacing .
After I gave the car back Europcar/ Keddy refused to refund me even though I had put 2 new tyres on their car and sent them the invoice.
Absolutely disgusting treatment avoid Europcar/ Keddy at all costs.

A great experience spoilt by a corrupt employee trying to blame me for a scratch that he himself did!

Huge queue at Rome Fiumicino Europcar desk (Keddy is the cheaper outlet of Europcar) which has a ticketing system so take a ticket as soon as you arrive. service was very courteous no extras hard sell, collecting the car was straightforward, remember to video EVERYTHING! The problem was on returning the car. I returned it washed hoovered etc. in immaculate condition. When the guy from Europcar came to inspect the car he started with the inside checking the mileage etc. Whilst he was doing that I videod the car from the back moving to the front and then round to the back. As I was at the front the guy went to the back inspecting things whilst I was returning back from the front. On finishing the inspection he pointed out a 15mm superficial scratch on the rear bumper claiming I had done that! He then tried to make me sign a damage form admitting to the scratch! I refused absolutely of course. He then said that was all and I left. On checking the detailed video I took whilst he was in the car there was NO visible scratch on the bumper! The pictures I took of it AFTER he pointed it out showed it clearly. So this scratch magically appeared whilst I was videoing the other end of the car!! Clearly he scratched it thinking he could blame it on me! I was waiting for the claim to arrive but it never did, which is lucky for him because he would have found himself in criminal court. My relative in Italy is a lawyer and would love to catch these thieves! Also whilst pointing out another small scratch before taking the car, the rep told me that anything under 2cm is ignored. It would be worth getting that statement on video before you leave! It`s a pity because I used Keddy before and never had this sort of nonsense that you get from the gutter car co`s. It seems Italy is rife with this sort of thing so beware! Video everything in detail!

Unacceptable service

Unacceptable service, never again. Reserved a car for 5 passengers Opel Grand land in Brindisi airport and we were given a Fiat 600…. We also had to wait for them to wash it… We paid for a certain type of vehicle which was not available AND we were not the only ones in this situation. Keddy/Europcar does overbooking and cannot provide the right cars to their customers. That’s bad.

Rented a car in Santa Cruz Bolivia

Rented a car in Santa Cruz Bolivia. Shockingly poor customer experience.

1 hour to get the car back, given the wrong car, charged 33% more of a safety deposit then what was in the T&Cs, 1.5 hours to give the car back, and now waiting 3 days to get the refund.

Kiddy’s response is “you need to contact your bank”. I will never use this company again and I do t recommend you do either.

Gave us a much smaller car than booked and refused to change it

We booked a diesel Peugeot 508 sw but at the Turin airport service desk they gave a us Ford Focus which is a significantly smaller car and obviously in a smaller class estate vs hatchback. Yet they claim it’s the same size/class and didn’t agree to change it to a car that’s closer in size to the one that we booked.

Turin Airport experience

I picked up a car in Turin Airport ( flying from Dublin). Pick up was actually done in couple minutes and there were no any annoying questions or hold ups. I must admit I was first in the line as I knew the times you usually wait since I fly very frequently. The car met my expectations ( Once in Italy I was given ford C max as 'the same category' car as Mercedes GLC ) . Returning the car was the same swift action , the guy checked everything and I was on my way. The car itself wasn't cleaned 100 percent but really it was a minor thing. I was left very satisfied

Rented via europcar payed in full with…

Rented via europcar payed in full with full insurance . Got the car from Kedy. He said I’ll give you an upgrade. I signed for the car. End off story the included full premium insurance without even having a conversation about it. We discussed what was on the form. Now it turns out I paid € 1089 extra. Those people are ruthless pure evil thieves. They told me it is a waist of time to try and get your money back.
Word off the wise…..think twice before renting a car from Kedy. Read the reviews they are real.

KEDDY-ORBIT-EUROPCAR fraudsters?

KEDDY - ORBIT - EUROPCAR FRAUDSTERS?
I search for an economic rental car 14 days from Bianiac, Toulouse. On the Internet I book a manual car at Keddy car rental 14 days, no extras, for a fixed total of 430.37€.
Returning the car a final invoice comes from Europcar. It is for 881€ including all extras - more than double the fixed amount.
Complaints are bounced between a chain of companies - KEDDY, ORBIT, EUROPCAR - and not attended to. Orbit and Europcar have both received details as below - no comments.

DETAILS - 411 TO 881€ INCREASE
I get an e-mail confirmation. Not from Keddy but from Orbit Car Hire. And they charge me 17,05€.
Arriving Bianiac, Toulouse. No Keddy nor Orbit rental to be seen. Asking at Europcar for Keddy I am informed it is there - at Europcar. I present the Rental Agreement Details on paper. The lady confirms an “economic car”, “manual”. Yes. Is it OK with a Peugeot? Yes. No other changes to my reservation are mentioned. The car given to me is an hybrid, not manual.
Returning it after 14 days, they remark there is a colour scratch on the rim of a wheel. Could be, I did not check the wheel rims at picking-up.
I get an invoice from Europcar France S.A.S. It has the items Basic Rental 411€, Coverage (Go Zen) 336€, Services Cross Border Fee 32€, Surcharges Environmental Contribution 15€, Other revenues Damage Admin Fee 87€, Total 881€. On top of the 17,05$ first paid.
No figure, or combination of figures, correspond to the fixed price of 430,37€.
COMPLAINT
My complaint is sent to the invoice sender, Europcar France S.A.S. Reference 20799055.
They return 14/8 with the message “I've checked your request and noted that you made your reservation via a Tour Operator.
They are your main partner for the the full rental process (before, during and after the rental). They will be happy to provide further information.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Erjo
Europcar Mobility Group Germany“

So - that “Tour Operator” - could it be Orbit Car Hire. I contact them forwarding the above message and write:
“EVIDENTLY - Europcar considers you, OrbitCarHire, as a Tour Operator which should handle the case. I kindly ask you to do so immediately.
I enclose Reservation details and Invoice (protested)
Yours sincerely. ENCLOSURE”

The answer from OrbitCarHire:
“thank you for your email and my apologies for the late reply!
I will get in touch with Europcar, as we will need a copy of the signed rental agreement and final invoice from your reservation as well as an explanation of why all the extras were included in the reservation.
As soon as we have more information available regarding this case, I will get back to you with an update. In the meantime, I kindly ask for your patience and understanding.”
Kind regards, Nik Bradac. Orbit Car Hire”
Now the Reservation Details and the Invoice had already been sent to Orbit Car Hire. The rental agreement was left in the returned car and of course available at the Europcar office in Bianiac, which I informed them. In the Reservation Details are no extras included - hence no need for an explanation on my part - possibly on the part of the Europcar lady at Bianiac.

I heard nothing further from Orbit och Europcar. Keddy was nowhere to be heard of, except on the Internet page.

THE CASE IS NOT UNIQUE - THE SETUP
appears to be one of three organisations using, blaming and hiding each other in order to cheat customers and avoid responsibilities. When the paper company KEDDY gets too stained with frauds, another facade can quickly be arranged.

I have seen that there are a number of fraudulent cases in various reviews regarding the experience from Europcar rentals in other places around the globe.
Common appears to be that the constellation around Europcar is a doubtful, if not pure criminal fraudulent one. THUS, AVOID RENTING CARS where Keddy, Europcar och Orbit Car Hire appear.

International driver license required.

My International driver license was in my baggage which was delayed. Counterperson was very compassionate and polite but would not allow me to take the car I had reserved because I did not have my international driver license. I cancelled my reservation believing I would pay a $21 fee. Instead was refunded less than half of the amount charged to my credit card. Rented from one of several other agencies that do not require an international driver license. Do not rent from this company. Most other companies will not require an international driver license.

Terrible company Europcar/Keddy

Reserved and paid for a car at Naples airport in advance, but when I wanted to get the car they said there weren't any cars avalaible. Very rude employee, didn't even bother to find an alternative solution. Now I had to hire a car at a competitor for a much higher price.

Rip-off insurance - avoid

This is an edited post of my review of Europcar.

Rented a car for pickup at Ancona airport, Italy, for £250 for 9 days. The company was Keddy. All went well until I dropped the car off - no damage - and got an additional invoice for nearly £300.

Thinking it was an error - and that maybe I had another £50 to pay (local taxes, currency etc.) I waited for the final bill. It was the full bill for 9 days' insurance.

I do not remember agreeing to this and, moreover, I was presented with this bill AFTER I dropped the car off. I might have had quite a conversation at the start of the car hire had they presented it to me then.

I see that other contributors on this site have had the same experience. I also note the Europcar corporate boilerplate in reply - please get in touch with our advisors to resolve the issue etc. etc. etc.

I have waited for my reply for Europcar before posting and they say that the charge holds. So don't believe the boilerplate - these people are rip-off artists.

Their agent in Italy is called Keddy. I suggest that anyone planning to hire a car abroad avoids Europcar and Keddy like the plague.

Ruined travel, Incompetatsnt staff and spoilt holiday start

Our flight from London Gatwick to Brindisi was delayed by an hour and I was due to pick up my rental booking by 11pm.
The original flight was due to land at 10pm but the delay now said eta would be 10:37.
My anticipation that I would not get there in time for 11pm made me think to call them from London which I did.
First try the phone rang for a bit then the lady who answered and we explained that, we have a booking and our flight is delayed in London by half an hour. She then said that they close at 11 pm and that we must phone thier office number which she gave us and use option 5.
To my horror the phone rang continuously and nobody answered.
I had done this booking through trip.com so I then called them, straight away. They said they would contact Keddy and put me on hold... After 10 minutes they too said they had no answer and advised me to cancel as the booking states that if. I am not able to pick up the car then we lose the booking and the money paid.
So we did this, we cancelled.... The cancellation now had a charge of £80 and the remaing balance to be credited back to me between 7 to 30 days... Astonishing?
When we landed in Brindisi Airport the euro car/Keddy car rental was still open at 11:30pm??????The two receptionists were not listening to me when I was asking if they could help me with a car? And that I had only cancelled because of a no response from the call.... Nothing, just blank faces?
I am absolutely fuming with all this confusion and terrible customer service.
The person that answered the phone was completely incompetent because she said they close at 11pm.
I am now travelling by taxi to my destination, I have no car for the remaing days of our holidays and will have to lose another day of my holidays to re book another car.
It would be nice if you could offer me the car booking back... But I doubt this will happen.

Bad experience turned around by good staff member Miranda

We arrived at Toulouse Airport 2 hours late and followed Keddy instructions to go to the Europcar office which along with all others was closed. There was on our instruction sheet telephone numbers to call but none would connect. The note left by Europcar gave telephone numbers that either did not connect or if you held on told you to go to the website.
Absolute ridiculous and a big worry at that time of night.
Only by chance a person passing asked if we were collecting a rental car and said try car park 2.
We rushed to car Park 2 and found a fully open Eurocar office. Why was there no instruction or simple sign on the closed office???
Once we were attended by Miranda and a pleasant discussion followed as she was convinced there was a sign and would look into it.
We were then turned around by her positive and helpful approach to our car hire and when credit cards would not work remained patia t and helpful
Even helped when the Appleplay would not change to English
So from being tired and cross she turned the issue into a positive experience and is to be complimented for her manner.
What was sad to hear was how many customers are rude arrogant and unpleasant when a difficulty arises. Problems do crop up in any transaction but beings a shifty customer will not help in the long run
Well done Miranda you are a credit to the business and I hope the senior management learn from you what true customer service does for the business.

Extra charges, Long wait times, shabby car and poor service

We rented a car from Keddy Brindisi airport Italy. Contract no. 89749259
We arrived a day late and got charged more (53 euros) for a shorter rental period. I was not informed the rental was more expensive but noticed it on the agreement I was given to sign. When questioned the operator shrugged his shoulders and said 'thats the price on the computer'. I asked him to explain but suddenly his english failed. My wife (italian) asked him to explain and was given very long sentances with no meaning or justification. The final offer from the operator was that he would email customer service for a reason. We asked when we would get a response and he replied 'there will be no response, they will only reply to me (the operator). It was getting late so we gave up. Then when we got to the car it was a very scruffy example. Damage absolutely everywhere including underneath. A lengthy wait for the assistant to record all the damage on the collection paperwork meant we was not over and hour and a half collecting the car. When we got going the car vibrated at motorway speed and as usual had no screenwash. Finally, of course we heard nothing from customer service or the counter staff at Brindisi as to the additional cost.
In summary, long service times, unhelpful staff, extra charges and a low quality vehicle.

Having had a previous bad experience with Europcar giving the police my details for a driving offence when I wasn't even in the country when the offence was commited, I have to declare this is the last rental from Keddy or Europcar.
