Horrible Service and Hidden Costs

Booked online with the information of car return at 7:30 AM. Payed everything.

Then at the airport I had to pay additional 100 PLN due to early return. Office opens at 8.

Then I requested a bill via e-mail but no one is responding for weeks. I have sen 4 different mails and received no response.

Cars are dated, extra charges for car wash!!!

Cars are dated, 70,000km on the clock.
I was charged extra £31 for the car wash on return! Take that in your calculations, or just wash your car before returning :) A bit of a joke rental company.
Be aware your card credit needs to be 6 months ahead expire date otherise they charge extra insurance.

Regarding the car wash charge – this is a standard procedure when a vehicle is returned not cleaned. We always recommend returning the car in a similar condition to how it was received, which avoids this fee.
As for the credit card requirement, our policy clearly states that the card must have at least six months validity remaining. This ensures the security of the deposit and insurance coverage. These conditions are transparent and included in our rental terms.

Ace service at Wroclaw airport. Got an upgrade to BMW 5. Everything went well. Asked to check the car at return and they did this. It was the second time I rented a car from them and I'll return.

I, Genady, rented a Mazda CX 5 from you with the order number reservation no. 397927 rental start date from 22.07.20 to rental end date 06.08.2025. Unfortunately, during the use of the car I encountered several malfunctions that significantly complicated my trips.

List of malfunctions:

[Description of the first malfunction] when pressing the gas pedal the car did not respond, even if we switched to sport the tachometer rose to the very end and the car did not pick up speed. The only thing that was heard was the hum of the car when increasing the speed, but the speed did not increase. But the strangest thing is that with a full tank of gasoline and fuel consumption as written on the panel 8.5 -

9 liters per 100 km, but in reality it was 16-17 liters per 100 km, I drove 200 km and there was already half a tank of gasoline left.

[Description of the second malfunction] the car panel constantly displayed that the camera system was turning off, that is, the on-board computer of the car was either turning off or turning off the cameras, it is unclear.

[Description of the third malfunction] while driving, the car suddenly started to honk. But it was not a signal, but some kind of sound that came from the engine. It is not clear. I am sending you a video of what happened and what kind of sound. I hope you understand that the car was faulty and should not have been given to a regular customer. The video and photos will be posted on the website.

I expected to receive a serviceable vehicle, but, unfortunately, this is not true. I ask you to consider this situation and take the necessary measures, including possible reimbursement of expenses related to rentals.

My experience with Kaizen Rent was extremely negative, and I want to warn others about the problems I faced.

After arriving in Katowice at 1:30 a.m., nobody answered the phone. I had to wait for a callback from an employee and then travel several kilometers to their office — something I had never been informed about in advance.

A few days later, the car broke down. I was unable to reach their technical support (they kept transferring me from one department to another). In the end, the department that was supposed to assist me simply had their phone switched off. This completely ruined my plans — I had an important medical appointment with my daughter, and I had to take a taxi instead.

• A replacement car was only provided two days later. During this time, the car I paid for remained broken, and the company still refuses to refund me for those days, despite it clearly being their fault.
• When I returned the car, there was still fuel left for about 45 km, yet I was charged for a full tank.
• Despite prior arrangements, I was charged an additional 99.99 PLN for returning the car at night — a fee I had never been informed about. On top of that, the employee who was supposed to meet me at 3:00 a.m. arrived half an hour late.
• My credit card deposit has been blocked for over a month, and contacting their office is extremely difficult and unpleasant.

When I filed a complaint and asked for a fair settlement of the wrongly applied charges, the company started threatening me with debt collection, even though I never refused to pay what I owed — I only demanded an honest calculation from their side.

Additionally, at the airport I was pressured into buying extra insurance, even though I had already purchased full coverage through my broker — completely unnecessary and dishonest.

In summary — this company is incompetent, unfriendly, and dishonest towards its customers. Lack of communication, no willingness to solve problems, adding hidden fees without prior notice, and holding deposits for weeks are just some of the issues I experienced.

I will never use Kaizen Rent again, and I strongly advise everyone else to stay away. If you plan to rent a car in Poland, choose a different, more professional and transparent company.

We would like to clarify a few points regarding your concerns. Our office in Katowice operates in an off-airport format, and information about its location, as well as the fee for returning the vehicle outside business hours, is included both in the rental terms and in the voucher sent by the broker through whom the booking was made.
The vehicle was provided to you in full working order, and the reported issue occurred during the rental period, which could not have been anticipated. According to our rental policy, we arrange a replacement vehicle within 12 hours of a breakdown. In your case, a proportional refund for the downtime was applied. GPS data also confirms that the car was not completely immobilized during the reported period.
Fuel charges were applied based solely on the actual amount required to refill the tank, with no additional fees. The security deposit of 1 PLN was automatically released after the vehicle return; the timing of the funds reflecting in your account depends on the issuing bank.
Although our calculations were consistent with the rental terms, we understand the situation caused inconvenience. In this spirit, as a goodwill gesture, we decided to cancel the additional out-of-hours return fee of 99.99 PLN.
We take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our services. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and hope this explanation clarifies the situation.

Horrible experience at Krakow

Horrible experience at the Krakow airport. Arrogant young man, name possibly Jakub (as he wasn't happy to give us his name) in a very rude way informed us that no car will be given to us because we do not have the international drivers licence. I understand that rules are rules, but we didn't have to be verbally abused.
By the way, the company next door was happy to rent us their car based on our Australian licence only.

Somehow the keizen response missed the fact that the customer service in Krakow was very rude. I complained about the rude service in Krakow and not the fact that we didn't get the car. No apology from them regarding this.

On the response from Keizen: How is another document, international driving licence, transcribed from my original licence word for word, issued by the same office as the driver's licence, making me a safer driver??

We would like to clarify that the terms and conditions of the rental are clear and binding: in Poland it is not legally possible to drive a vehicle with an Australian driving licence alone. Australia is not a signatory to the Geneva or Vienna Conventions, which define the licence format recognised under Polish law, nor is it part of the European Union. For this reason, an International Driving Permit is required in addition to the national licence.
The fact that another rental company may have provided you with a vehicle under different circumstances does not change these legal requirements – it only means they chose to take the risk of not respecting Polish law.
Our team is obliged to follow the applicable regulations, which are in place first and foremost for the safety and legal protection of all drivers.

Office close on Saturday morning, not able to collect the car after 40 minutes delay and my reservation cancelled blaming the customer for no show up

Review with regards to Rental booking D011223831 (pick-up on 2 Aug 2025 from Warsaw Chopin airport)

Unfortunately the company just keeps lying about the situation, instead of admitting they employ incompetent people they prefer to loose customers. Below is the detailed description of my unfortunate experience with Kaizen, but in the end the issue was that due to confusion around pick-up instruction, I arrived 40 minutes late at the correct car rental office (Laczyny, Warsaw, have photos with a date to prove), but their office was closed at 10.40am on Saturday. We even talked to some Kaizen employees at 10.40am at Lyczyny, who told us that the office was closed and they couldn't help us as they worked for Kaizen Warsaw Chopin airport. They were very rude, not wishing to help us in any way. Finally, my reservation was cancelled blaming the customer for showing up.

In detail, what happened was that I've rented a car from Warsaw Chopin airport area through a broker DiscoverCars (have been using them for many years). I chose option to collect from the airport, and the pick up instructions on my rent voucher were level 0, arrivals, rental office next to McDonalds at Warsaw Chopin Airport. I arrived there at agreed time only to be informed that I have rented a car from a far away location (25 mins from the airport). I showed them the voucher but they just said that they have informed DiscoverCars a few times that their pick up instructions are incorrect and they have many customers in a similar situation. I was pretty shocked that they just accepted it and continued to mislead their customers just explaining to everyone - sorry, this is not our problem, your broker gave you wrong pick up instructions! I've been using all other companies through DiscoverCars and have never experienced something like that. I have asked Kaizen car to at least pay for the taxi to the other office, but the employee said this was not an option.
After I managed somehow to get to this far way locations, with my luggage and kids, I found out that the office was closed (it was Saturday after 10am), and there were similar customers like me looking for Kaizen Rent cars. The phone lines were unresponsive, we all tried to call Kaizen Rent customer helpdesk, after choosing 10 different options there was no answer. We went back to Warsaw Chopin airport, Kaizen Rent office, and explained to their representative that the office is closed. He was extremely surprised, didn't understand how this was possible. He has connected me to their customer helpdesk and the lady then offered to pay for my taxi to go there again. However I said this was too much, my kids were tired, and the lady from Kaizen Customer Support agreed to cancel the booking. I called Kaizen cars yesterday, again their Customer helpdesk doesn't respond. I called Kaizen Rent office at the airport, and they have checked that they have marked my booking as Cancelled by the customer... Proper scam!
On top of that, I had to rent a car at the airport from a different company and had to pay 3 times more than I normally pay for renting a car. A horrible experience, will never use Kaizen Rent. I have also complained to DiscoverCars, and luckily after more than a month, the broker DiscoverCars (after their investigation) have returned my prepaid amount in full. However Kaizen to this day claims the customer had not showed up and they did not return the money to the broker Discover Cars. What a shame, very short-sighed approach!

The address provided was Warszawa, ul. Łączyny 2/52, entrance from Pieskowa Skała, which is approximately a 5–7 minute drive from Warsaw Chopin Airport.
Upon learning about the difficulty you faced, our team immediately offered a free taxi transfer to the designated pick-up point to minimize any inconvenience. Unfortunately, you chose to cancel the reservation and make alternate arrangements instead, declining the solution we proposed.
We regret that the situation caused frustration and additional costs. At the same time, we responded promptly and offered a practical solution to fulfill the rental, which unfortunately was not utilized.
We hope this clarifies the situation. We take all feedback seriously and will continue to work on improving our communication and service for future customers.

Wroclaw airport in July 2025

Wroclaw airport in July 2025 – I received Fiat Tipo ( instead of Toyota Corolla ) with documented 55 ( fifty five) scratches . After drop off they found another 2 scratches ( or the same but longer ones ) . Luckily I have not been charged for it .
I requested a printed version of documented damages as it would be extremely hard to compare it on the tiny phone screen . BTW I still can not open it on my laptop ( zip version , protected by password etc )
The desk Lady confirmed that they have a photographic documentation of the car in the system but refused to email me it . Why? - No answer .
So I lost at least half an hour for inspection of the car which paid off as I found one item missing and one more damage . No apologies .Otherwise I would have to pay for it.
Surprisingly general cleaning of the car after use is required ( general condition and customer service say car must be returned clean.) It is like as the hotel would require from the client to clean the hotel room ( vacuum , clean windows etc ) before checking out. Otherwise penalty 100 PL ( around 25 Euros )
Conversation with the desk lady:
Q would you like to drive so scratched car? A : I have a private car and I do not have to use rental agencies 😊 If you do not like it I can cancel reservation for you...
I will complain for your service and give negative review– A: I do not care 😊
So I am doing this….

Please know that we mark even small damages to make everything transparent and avoid any misunderstandings at return. The Fiat Tipo you received belongs to the same class you booked — we don’t guarantee exact models, but always make sure they meet the booked category.
About the damage report: for security reasons, it's sent in a protected file and the password comes via SMS. We know it’s not the easiest way to open it, but this helps protect your personal data.
As for returning the car clean — it’s part of our rental terms, and helps keep things fair for all customers. It doesn't require professional cleaning, just a general tidy condition.
We’re also sorry if the conversation at the desk didn’t feel professional — we’ll follow up on that internally.

POOR SERVICES, POOR COMMUNICATION - SHI*TY COMPANY

**Better avoid KaizenRent !!!!!!!
In my opinion, this is one of the worse rental companies. You better pay some extra money, but at least you'll get better service, such as Sixt, Avis, Hertz. I picked up a car from Gdansk airport and drop it off in Krakow airport. Nobody informed me about the drop-off place, there's no email or any information regarding it. When I called their customer service, nobody was able to speak in english (such a shame for a car rental company) and they were keep putting me in waiting lines. There was nothing to do in order to get the correct drop-off location. Because I was in rush, I left the car in the normal parking of the airport with the ticket inside so they can easily access it.
I went inside the airport and informed directly the people from Kaizen rent. They told me that they understand the situation and nothing should happen because of this, as I wasn't informed and showed them proof of it.
Yet, after few days, they sent me an invoice saying that they charged me because i left the car in a different place. I tried to communicate with them, but no replies yet, after few weeks.

This is the worst service I have ever had

This is the worst service I have ever had at any rental. Most of the personal cant talk english, had to call the support several times to get a answer, they send me invoices in polish that I cant even understand with google translate, the invoice was for driving over from Poland to the German border. They had not informed me that it was not allowed but they charged me a fine of 1000 PLN for doing it. I will never choose this company again, please do better Kaizen rent.

Forced to purchase additional insurance

The vehicle was collected at Gdansk Airport. As a repeat customer, I have previously had positive experiences with this rental agency and provided favorable reviews. However, on this occasion, I was charged over 1100 zloty for supplementary insurance, despite already having comprehensive coverage from an external provider. This was due to my credit card's expiration date being within five and a half months, while the company mandates a minimum validity of six months. While the agent was courteous, this unexpected charge significantly impacted my trip to Poland. Consequently, I will be utilizing an alternative rental service moving forward.

I would give them no star review but…

I would give them no star review but won’t let me. Krakow Airport location gave me scratched and used heavily car and trying to rip me off a week after I’ve returned the rental. The pictures they had attached to the report are made up with the false accusations. Front desk service is unprofessional, forcing you to buy insurance from them. I’ve notified all the related authorities about their actions. Stay away, find yourself a decent company for your peace of mind 🙏

As clearly stated during pickup, our vehicles are not brand new, but regularly maintained and in constant use, which means they may bear signs of prior wear. That is precisely why every rental begins with a detailed inspection and issuance of a handover protocol, which includes photographic documentation and a written record of all existing damage. This document is reviewed and signed by the customer prior to vehicle release — confirming agreement with the noted condition.
Customers are also encouraged to take their own photos if they wish. In your case, our internal documentation clearly shows that the front bumper damage was not present at pickup, and was recorded only upon return. The photographic evidence was taken directly by our staff — and we firmly deny any accusation of image tampering, which is both unfounded and extremely serious.
If you have your own photographic proof showing the damage was already there at pickup, we are open to reviewing it. Our complaints process is fully transparent and always available — however, it must be based on facts, not assumptions or baseless accusations.
Allegations of being “forced” to buy insurance are also incorrect. Our staff only presents available options; any purchase is entirely voluntary and confirmed by customer signature.
We encourage you to submit a formal claim if you believe an error has occurred — this is the proper path for resolving disputes. Publicly posting false accusations is not only unfair, but undermines honest dialogue and the rights of all parties involved.

Avoid Kaizer Rent at All Costs – Total Scam

It’s a ok company in terms contact with costumers.

As confirmed in our recent correspondence, we have thoroughly reviewed your case and acknowledge that while the requirement for the credit card to be valid for at least six months beyond the rental period is included in our Terms and Conditions, this information was not clearly visible during your booking through an external platform (EconomyBookings).
We have already reported this issue to the intermediary in order to help ensure that all relevant information is presented more clearly during the reservation process in the future.
As a gesture of goodwill, and despite the condition being part of our official rental policy, we have accepted your claim.
We value your feedback and the opportunity to resolve this matter fairly. If you feel that our final handling of your complaint reflects a willingness to listen and improve, we would be grateful if you would consider updating your review to reflect the resolution provided.
