Difficulty to actually pay the premium
Making a payment online by credit card was exceedingly difficult. It resulted in my Lloyds card being blocked and now I’m without this card for a week till they send me a new one.
Payment using my M&S card worked but the messages were exceedingly clunky.
There is no phone contact and messages via chat are exceptionally useless. I hope I never have to make a claim.policies seem to be underwritten by Aviva so at least there’s a decent company at the end of the chain.
I wasn’t making a general enquiry, it was for uptake of a policy, which was difficult to process online. Is there no phone number for your sales department?

The chat portal was really good
The chat portal was really good. The help I received was excellent. I managed to make a mistake with the start date. As this couldn't be changed I was guided through cancelling the wrong policy and creating a new one.

Ridiculous pricing more expensive than…
Ridiculous pricing more expensive than my current insurer by a mile despite safe driving I had the highest rating with my current insurances Blackbox so if it really quoted based on the driving then it should have been way cheaper.

In a list of things I’d like to spend my time on car instance isn’t particularly high, however when it got confusing and needing sorting with changes Jack and the Rooster team were phenomenally helpful and made it painless. That’s my kind of Car insurance sorting!

Waste of Time - Rejected After Monitoring Period
I spent quite a while using this app to get my quote, driving carefully to demonstrate my safe driving behavior. After all that time and effort monitoring my driving, they rejected me anyway.
If Rooster wasn't going to insure me regardless of how safely I drove, they should have informed me upfront instead of wasting my time. It's frustrating to invest weeks into proving you're a safe driver, only to be rejected at the end.
The whole point of this app is supposed to be that careful driving gets you better rates, but apparently that doesn't matter if they've already decided not to insure you. Very disappointing experience and a complete waste of my time.
I would not recommend this app to others - save yourself the hassle and go with a traditional insurer that will tell you upfront whether they can offer you coverage.

Had to ammend my wife's details on the policy after a DVLA mess up, got answered straight away on the messaging system, so easy to use. Would rather message than jump through hoops with phone numbers.
The advisor Jack was very pleasant and everything was changed so easy.

Best and easiest insurance to deal with
Honestly was a little skeptical of rooster given they work differently to most insurance companies. However I can now say after being with rooster for 2 years now, AND having a car crash (write off) within those 2 years, I would absolutely recommend them to ANYBODY. The test drive is super simple, the customer service is incredible and everyone at rooster has been so lovely and helpful as well. When it came to sorting out my claim for my crash I was dreading it as I’ve heard horror stories from friends about dealing with insurance. However it was truly a breeze. There was no back and forth with them, they stuck to their word on the payout, it was quick aside from an issue which was out of anybody’s control where the police didn’t release my car, although once that was sorted the insurance claim was settled within about a week. Once I had got the nerve to get a car again, I went straight back to rooster. They gave me a quote, I bought the car, and then a different quote came up much higher than originally. I spoke to their customer services and they decided to honour the original (and cheaper) quote they had given. When it came to my renewal, rooster wasn’t the cheapest for me anymore (due to my crash understandably) however I did decide to stick with them because of how incredible all round they have been since being with them.

They dont care + Hard search + Cancellation fee
I joined Rooster, thinking it was a good deal. Then i got a heard search added to me. Never had this happen before.
Three days after starting the plan, I attempted to cancel and was charged a £50 cancellation fee.
No sense of empathy from customer service. Regarding the hard search cancellation, I was basically told to sort it out myself.
I tried to call the company they told me to reach regarding the hard search (Premium credit), but they told me to contact Rooster. When I contacted Rooster, they told me the same thing.
